So beautiful and bad-assed, Nick! Your level of detail is always a notch above the rest, including me of course.

I think I'm going to Bandimere next week Weds 9/10. Just street tires, street tune/fuel, hit the strip and go. Any chance you want to join up and race that night?

I am interested in going even though my time will be embarrassing given my power. I have never launched my car, could use more sidewall to put the traction down as 1st and 2nd aren't a lot of use going WOT even with TC on.

What time does it start? My wife wants to go but works till 530, probably wouldn't be able to be there till 630 if I had to guess. At least the temps would have come down a hair by then. Figure I would like to do 2, maybe 3 runs. The bar is set at 13.7 with the LGT, hopefully I can take that time down with ease despite babying the car out of the chute.

Yeah maybe, Nick, but most people who the dragstrip know that a car that runs a 12.5 and traps 125mph is north of 600whp but either has traction issues, missed a gear, etc. Even when I had my crappy 20's and just spun at the dragstrip I'd get about the same traps as when I went to Hoosier Quick Time Pro's with 15psi... I dropped nearly a second off my runs but traps were still within 2mph.

Plus, it's fun to see a Vette get smoked by a much lesser car... only to have that Vette mow the other car down and destroy that brief moment of glory. Cool to see cars rocket past others!

Hello there,

Well its a bummer since I didn't see this till now. I am hoping to take the sti to bandi just for grins before the end of the season but have an appointment booked for next Wednesday :(

^^ Dang, that sucks Dave. The weather that night still looks a bit sketchy so who knows. I work until 9pm the following Weds but maybe I could swap shifts with someone. I'd really like to get together with you as well. That would make for some beautiful photo ops with 3 super cool but very different performance cars in red, white, and black.. all of them top of the line for their respective models in the years produced.

Yeah its kind of a bummer but work seems to come before play these days :(

I really want to get together with you guys before the weather gets bad and you two put the beasts away for the winter.

Bummed, I am going to have to bail out. I was wrong on my wife's schedule and found out she doesn't get off till 7 instead of 530. At that point we wouldn't be able to reach the track till 8, making it not worth going.

I still haven't had time to call bandimere to see if they rent helmets, I bet they do if they rent fire jackets. If anyone knows, post it up.

Dang... this Weds is so good for me since I get off work early AND my daughter is away at outdoor lab. But I'll pass. I definitely have the itch to go once this year so I don't want to blow it just going on my own.

So... new date then? I work late on 9/17 so that is out for me. How does 9/24 sound? I'm a little wary of any October dates as it gets crazy busy due to people looking for one last time out and/or nice cool air.

Hello there,

Well I looked at my schedule and unfortunately it looks like oct 1st is going to be the day for me. I have a crazy busy week next week and the following week I have tickets to a show on Wednesday night.

I don't know how many runs I will be able to get in on the 1st but as of now that's going to be the day I'm shooting for since its the second to last Wednesday night test and tune from the looks of it. It would be awesome to have you both up there as well but obviously I can understand if it doesn't work for your schedules.

I just penciled it into my calendar so I'm going, haven't taken enough time out of the schedule to do fun things with my own car this year so I'm making an appointment with myself :)

C5Zs offer lots of performance per $ spent. Here are my two LGT replacements, one is a street car, the other a track car:

Silver 2002 Z06 with 395whp on bolt-ons:

^^ Okay Dave sounds good. I've tweaked my schedule a bit to make 10/1 work for me also.

Nick?

I will be questionable for that date. I have to take off early from work the following day to participate in a walk for Leukemia in memory of my best friend who past away. I will talk to my wife and check in with her to find out if she will be able to attend, hope I can make it temps should be conducive to a good time.

So the Weds forecast doesn't look conducive to racing at this point (unless you drive a Subaru).

As a backup plan, how about Cars and Coffee in Lafayette this Saturday morning? If you haven't been before, it is THE monthly car show in Colorado. Tons of cars and very cool. I am going only if Weds night is looking too rainy. My buddy with a 911 and I will caravan from 104th & Lowell area for a spirited 20-25 minute drive to the show. Here is a tasty video from last month:

Well that is no good! Last thing I want to do is get up there and have rain delays all night.

Saturday is the wife's b-day so I know it won't have anything to do with cars unfortunately.

Seems mother nature and the stars are against me having any car fun away from work :(

I am not going to be able to make it today either. Would like to go to cars & coffee Saturday but have to take our pup in for some shots followed by taking my dad to the airport. Figures, I don't think I have a thing planned for Sunday other than watching the broncos.

Just started my car for the first time this year over the weekend and made it to cars & coffee near my house. Wasn't sure if it would be on the ground in time but I finished the night before. We will have to get together soon.

While my car was down for the last 6 weeks I did a various maintenance on it and a couple more mods. Busted out my porter cable and did a full detail including wet sanding the wheels.

Not much planned for the this year, other than the controversial mod of swapping out the pop up headlights for fixed headlights this week. I'll post some pics after they are in. Here are my detail pics...

You sir, are turning into a true Vette guy... a waxer.

Beautiful car! A monster in disguise. Getting rid of popups will save you quite a few pounds up front. BTW, you are missing a rear license plate bezel/frame.

My red C5Z is getting a cage put in as we speak. A different path from yours, but not really a better one.

Never noticed I was missing a bezel till you pointed it out. I had to go an order one.

Caging the vette is hard core but if it is a dedicated track car that is what you need. What suspension mods are you running?

Geeesh that thing is CLEAN!! Still can't believe I haven't seen it in person.

I can't believe I haven't seen the mustang yet. Seeing you go v8 supercharged got me thinking the same thing when I was figuring out what car to go with.

Yes, it is in fact a dedicated track whore, so extensive mods were required to keep it reliable and safe. I am using LG coilovers and T1 front and rear bars. Aggressive camber, caster and toe settings are set to make the car handle better than I can drive it. ;)

I am currently running it on R888 tires, 305 in the rear and 275 up front. Once I get more experience and am able to handle it in any situation on these tires, I will graduate to slicks. But that brings additional sets of problems, as bearing wear is accelerated and long left hand sweepers at high g's will require a dry sump setup. And all that costs money... so the longer I wait, the more track days I can do in the car as is.

Without making this a thread about my car, I also have an oil cooler, electric diff and tranny pumps that route the fluids through their own coolers and no AC, which aids in airflow through the stock radiator. The car as it sits, with a cam and bolt ons (no cats) make 425whp and 407wtq. Race seats and 6 point harnesses, along with a quick disconnect steering wheel, complete the interior. It weighs just north of 3000lbs, so the power to weight ratio makes it very capable on the track. I just need a set of bigger balls, and those I hope, will grow over time, along with experience.

I sold my silver '02 C5Z a few months ago and have my eye on a 04-05 Viper SRT-10 or a used C7 Z51. Those are the only cars that are low enough to allow stacking along with my Vette on a 4 post lift in my garage. Just need to come up with the cashola to make it all happen. :spin:

Here is a video of my last session of the season in 2014 (watch in 1080p). The Vette is in fact a powerhouse on the track. It is hard to beat for the money!

Damn, that is some great driving, you were hauling! I have never driven on a road track before, pushing your car like that requires to have a set nuts without adding you are driving on a windy track.

At long last I got my headlights done but was too busy to drive the car. I haven't been able to capture the halos, they are xbaled and are too bright for my camera to capture in a darker setting. I'm really happy with how it turned out makes a drastic change in appearance.
