shralp
My 7 year old Perrin rear sway is absolutely hammered. Most of the paint has come off and its pitted with pretty heavy surface rust. I take it its ok to have it media blasted and powder coated without weakening the bar right? I mean its steel so it should be ok with the heat its going to take in the powder coat I'm assuming. Comments anyone? Thanks.
Moderators BarManBean Posted March 22, 2014 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2014 It's probably fine. Is it a 25mm perrin bar? It's solid steel AFAIK and those things are beastly. Underdog
Yes - it will be fine. I had my Whiteline bars powdercoated last summer. Avoid clearcoat though, it will peel if it gets damaged anywhere (like under bolt heads). The Crimson Dynamo

scoobyscoodle
Perrin PC'd it from the factory didn't they? You'll be fine.
shralp
I guess I thought that powder coating was completely bomber in terms of weather proof, but yeah it looks like on their site they list them as powder coated.
scoobyscoodle
There are certainly different quality levels of PC. I have the Perrin set as well, and the PC still looks excellent, but then again I live in SoCal and only make momentary trips to the harsh climate places. Decide on a color yet?
