keeper15
So I just picked my 2009 legacy 2.5i up over the weekend and noticed the gas gauge is good till it hits the halfway then it plummets like a rock... Anyone else notice this happening?
rob-2
Pretty common for every car I've owned.

I fill the tank when I have 280-300 miles on the tank. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. DonnyJagaru
I guess they deleted the 'info centre' after 2008 on the 2.5i ? Maybe this is a Canadian car thing....
keeper15
I still have the data center on my 2009 2.5i... When I fill the tank I get the 340miles info but I was just curious because I get about 200mlies out of a half tank then the second half tank I only get 100miles
Max Capacity
Max, is 340 with the reserved fuel used up ? Don't know, never ran out of gas. But I have run it down to 20 miles left, and put in almost 16 gallons. I had a spare gas can with me, just in case. I still have the data center on my 2009 2.5i... When I fill the tank I get the 340miles info but I was just curious because I get about 200mlies out of a half tank then the second half tank I only get 100miles I'd say my wagon is pretty close reading correctly. I know I'm down to below a 1/4 tank and just over 270 miles on it. I either get gas on the way home or before we leave for VT tomorrow afternoon. I plan tp drivethe Spec B to work tomorrow, it needs gas too. It's got like 40 miles left. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). covertrussian
It's generally a good idea to avoid running out of gas, A. your fuel pump brushes are cooled by the fuel flow, B. sediments at the bottom of the bottom can be sucked up. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
007Legacy
I have just the opposite issue. Mine drops like a rock and then sits there at half a tank. Like I get 80 miles from fill up and it’s at a half tank. Then I go another 200 before the low fuel light kicks on.
DonnyJagaru
I heard the piezo elements in the fuel injectors will overheat if no fuel is present. Bad regardless to run it dry.
rob-2
You'd have to run dry a lot before anything major was done.
Max Capacity
You'd have to run dry a lot before anything major was done. Correct, I normally fill up once twice a week with 13-15 gallons. In case you want to know, last year I spent around $4700 at the gas pump. I have one credit card and all I use it for is gas. I can view my end end statement. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. covertrussian
Depends on the pump too, Walbaro 255lph that we run our Nissan's burn up the instant you run dry. 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
GEE-OTTO
On my 2.5i I get easy 470 miles out of a tank I would fill up twice a month with my LGT that is a pipe dream. How a car uses so much gas baffles me I bet V8s get better MPG than the EJ255 But seriously I drive it like my 2.5i in "I" mode im lucky to get 350 out of a tank. Hoping once the temps rise outside and the fuel blends change I can at least get a 30-50 more miles per tank in "I" mode

I'd expect nothing less then accurate reporting! I want to say I spend around $3,500/year on my cars and the wife about $800. I've never put more then 15.5gal in. But just for you I'm going to run it as low as possible to get it to 16.2 gal fill

BTW, loaded a new MAP from my Tuner, www.tuningalliance.com The wagon got 28.8mpg on the dash readout yesterday. That was after filling up in Ludlow VT, and driving home to Tolland CT, 150 miles. Normally that dash would read 27.4mpg on that drive. Car runs great, even when cold. There's this up hill right turn I make each morning. It's about a 1/2 mile from the house, I normally have just shifted from 1st into 2nd gear as I begin the up hill turn. The car used to buck once or twice, it hasn't since the new MAP. I know the car is still in open loop, (right) but it's smoother there. BTW, I don't let the warm up in the driveway, start it and drive it. Since the new MAP its been sub zero and the car has not bucked. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).
