Dyno Day Pulls, Whos in?

Dave, thanks so much for organizing the dyno day. The LGT community is lucky to have you as such a great, thorough, and responsive tuner. Our local community is even more lucky to have you "just down the street".

My favorite LGT dyno of the bunch is KGrizzley. Not only does he have the best peak torque by a lot, but also early peak torque. To me it looks like the most fun to drive and SSpeed's car doesn't start to pull on it until 5500rpms, so I'd expect KGrizzley's car to be a better stop-light in-town less than 60mph car but at the dragstrip SSpeed would likely come out on top. KGrizzley also takes the cake for the best bang for the buck, proving a good ol' TMIC, stock turbo and pipes can go a lonnnng way with E85 and a great tune.

I loved that S5, but the Subaru crowd proved you can do just as much but spend half the money for the same results. It was a beautiful Audi for sure, but I can't help but think the guy had to be a little disappointed. I think that car makes good crank hp but between the 22" tires, auto tranny, and AWD a lot of the power just doesn't make it to the ground. I do like the shape of the whp and tq curves better for the Audi vs. the Subaru's though, despite the lackluster numbers. Power comes on right away and is pretty linear.

As for mine, it was a little less than I expected. I keep making less power with the dang thing.. the previous owner trapped 123-125mph at Bandimere... when I got it I was trapping 119-121mph, and then I got it re-tuned on E85 and now just trap 116-118mph. On the re-tune we dropped boost from 12psi to the current 9.5psi and I'm tempted to increase the boost. Red-line is also set to a somewhat low 6300rpms to keep power from getting too dangerous. The tuner said it would be good for another 60-80whp but really would be pushing the stock 4.6L block. So, it's a little de-tuned for safety but I'm tempted to say to hell with max safety let's go for power and get a new build when it blows, but the wife really wouldn't like that. Previous dynos (both RWR) were 568whp and 590whp (current tune), and I think this just shows that RWR's dyno reads high. Anyhow, decent for a bone stock 4.6L block with bolt-ons.

It's a lot of fun on the street but traction is a huge issue. Power doesn't get much more linear than that and torque is an instant >400tq the whole way after 3krpms. Nice raunchy fun but not a great all-season car!

Here is the Audi S5 Stasis stage 2 dyno. (If you come to a dyno day your plot becomes public domain in my book... ;)

I think the S5 (Mike) was a little disappointed, but I'd trade cars in a heartbeat. :) Most peoples only reference is magazine and manufacturer hp crank numbers, so dyno wheel hp numbers (especially at altitude) leaves them scratching their heads.

It's time for my little 16g to go. It's been great for its purpose, which was as big as I could go on 91 octane without swapping injectors. That's no longer a concern. There's now e85 near me and the ID kit makes swapping reliably easier.

Here are my mods for reference:

91 octane - cryotune

276WHP

309WTQ

BNR 16g

3-port BCS

Cobb downpipe

upgraded BOV (not sure which one and it doesn't matter, I thought my stock leaked)

AVO mid/y

ProcessWest TMIC

Grimmspeed X-pipe and uppipe (the welding on my STI uppipe kept breaking and rattling)

Group N engine and trans mounts (changed for "clunking" reasons and not necessarily power ones)

Manifolds ported by me (I like porting :))

Stock mufflers

Stock intake

Stock injectors

My MAF voltage at redline is 4.6V, but I'm starting to think I'm limited by the stock intake and snorkel, or specifically how much air it can pull in at high RPMs via that small hole in the intake with the snorkel in there and the silencer still in place. I say this because my airflow stays exactly static from 5500 to 6500rpm, not changing at all.

Glad I could host it and we will do it again in the future. It was nice to hang with all you guys and very interested to see some of those same cars numbers in another 6 months or so.

It sounds like there are a few people planning some decent setups and glad I can be part of the process.

Hey guys,

I hate to ask you guys to do this but anyone who went to the facebook page and "liked" it earlier will have to go back and do it again.

Something happened to the other page and I had to start it over.

Please re-visit and "like" it for updates, etc.

Thanks for your support and I will be adding pics, videos etc as much as possible as I work on cool projects.

"Liked" FB page, Dave. Thanks for pics and videos. Subscribed to youtube channel also. FYI my car doesn't have "Cobra" in the title.. just a Shelby GT. I'm still so torn whether to keep it as-is slightly detuned (9.5psi vs 12psi) and safe, or add back my missing 60-80hp. Just hate having it slower than it once was...

You should put it back up. At least for what you do with it. It's not your daily, you track it, don't drive it all that often. If it were me I'd bring the psi up and back to where it was.
