  1. Once you have replaced one of these the next one is easy. These are a bit more difficult then a honda but that may be because of the chassis brace and stiff bushings I have. It's possible to change one in less then 30 minutes if you know what your doing. I will say the $80.00 axle looks much older then the oem one in the car, I changed the left front last Aug. just pulled the tranny 3 weeks ago, that new axle was all rusty, the oem one 141,000 miles looks great. But for the $80.00 who ever see's it ?
  2. For a few dollars more ($80.00) I got a 100% new axle from Advance Auto Parts last Aug. I'm not a big fan of Remanufactured axles.
  3. I guess by now you have started the engine and all is fine. Most of us have had that happen. Appearently having the cams snap back with out the engine running is ok. I have about 45,000 miles since I did my T belt.
  4. Thanks again The part should be here next week somtime.
  5. Just stopped by the dealer. $108.00 for 60319FA201 He gave me the copy of the picture that he printed "B12 Back door parts" the mechanism is #63100 in the picture. I'll PM BAC5.2 and see if that's a good price.
  6. Did this job on the 05 Saturday. We didn't remove the intake just removed the required nuts and bolts to lift either side enough to use needle nose plies to gently pull/wiggle the old ones down and out. Then installed the new ones and lowered that side then did the other side. I also zip tied the vacuume hose as needed. The one next to the hose for the brake booster from the intake to be exact. I have zip tied the others before. Haven't started the car yet, the tranny's still out, that's a different thread. But these new o-rings are much bigger.
  7. We found out the latch is getting power in both direstions. We removed the mechanism, the two brass colored screws. Didn't have to remove any plastic panels. I'll order the mechanism Monday.
  8. If I remember right it's pretty much silent. We'll play with it tomorrow. Thanks for your help.
  9. Thanks, Yes it was locked. Yes we figured out how to get into the it from the inside and move the lever down to unlock it. I sent your directions to my Audi buddy, I let him do all the electrical trouble shooting. He's real good with that kind of stuff.
  10. Thanks for the idea's. That's kind of why I bumped this back to the top. Hoped some of you knowledgable guy's would have thought's.
  11. FYI, Found this on the BIU doing a web search. http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/80-electrical-electronics/19097-biu-body-integrated-unit-location-print.html
  12. I'll check when I'm with the car over the weekend. It's at my son's house, where 90% of our tools are. The tranny is out of it and I need to replaces the rear diff, but that's in a different thread.
  13. Is that cable in the mechanism ? 05 Wagons don't have cable if I remember right. There are 2 connectors to yellowish plastic mechanism.
  14. Body integrated unit, that's a new one on me. Where would that be located ?
  15. For some reason the rear hatch on the 05 GT Wagon won't "unlock" from either the key fob or the drivers door. It will lock from the key fob or the drivers door but will not unlock. According to a wiring diagram there is only one wire that controls it (?) I'm not good with electrical so my Audi buddy found that only one wire controls it. Is he correct ? You can move the lever down by hand and it will open from the outside when not locked. I guess I'll have to price up a lock mechanism. Any body have any thought's ?
  16. ^^The pullies should be ok. You should have them replace the drive belts also, aka, alternator and a/c. Yes the T'stat should be changed. It's cheap insurance, you know the old saying, pay now or pay me a lot more money later.
  17. Take it to a auto parts store, they can match it up and sell you the correct bolt. I'm guess 6x1.25 I don't know the lenght, may 35.
  18. Mine is different. sometimes, it won't unlock. We went in from the back seat. popped the panel off and moved the lever down with a light push and it unlocks. It did this the first time last Fall, but after driving the car to my buddies body shop, the thing unlocked and worked like there was no problem. Yesterday while the car was up on jackstands, the hatch wouldn't unlock. Will trouble shoot more during the next week or so. Tranny's out being rebuilt, but that's a different thread.
  19. I went with after market belts and other parts. My seals were dry and still are, at 142,000 miles. I have not changed them.
  20. That is the same basic reason I bought the 5qt container of Castrol Syntec instead of the t6. But I think for summer I'll spring for 2 gallons of t6 and keep the rest in the shed.
  21. Walmart has the t6 5-40 in gallon jugs. I think its $19.00 a gallon. Are you using the long filter too ? PL14610. I'm changing over to those on the next oil change. There's plenty of room down there.
  22. Yea, they just became like any other Legacy 4 door car. Helps them to stay stelthy I've had mine since Tuesday afternoon, Love the way the tranny shifts, hind sight is 20/20, I should have bought one of these new. Thanks,
  23. Forgive me if there is a thread for this, is there a listing like this for the 07-09 ?
  24. The idea is to use the highest gear. So yea, 6th would be ok.
