  1. not much of upgrade per-se, but i went with an exedy stage 1 when i changed out my clutch.  works great for a stage 1 tune.  much ove rthat and i'm not sure.  can look at SPEC clutches - had a stage 2 on my medium turbo GTi years ago and with the stock flywheel it was perfectly fine - no chatter or nothin.  best bet would be to look at the wrx guys and see what they're doing for your general power level you're looking for.  unless you're going big turbo, i'd imagine a stage 1 would hold pretty well, but i never planned to really push power past tune level, so i never really did the research

  2. all sounds like a good plan to me!  the 18s will definitely fit better. if you wanna upgrade you can pick up some wrx or sti wheels, 15 or 20 mill adapters from 5x100 to 5x114.3 will get em sitting flush.  tune is the biggest improvement you can do to these cars...the horsepower gains isn't huge, but the gobs of torque everywhere really liven up the car.  BPV, plugs and new coils are good miantenance, same with all the fluids and everything you've done/are doing.

mevotech makes new front control arms with stiffer bushings, worth the change.  rear sway bar from an sti (19 or 20 mm) really tightens up the rear end...front is impossible to change unless you raise the engine, and that's...a w hole thing.  the perrin shifter stop is a must, makes a huge difference.  everyone raves about the clutch damper delete...if you're chaning clutch fluid, that's a good time to do it.  i've got the part sitting in my shed, but haven't done it for 6+ years...soon though.

i'll be doing the kyb/OE springs this spring, so i can't comment on that but i've heard it's a huge difference, i'm excited to see that myself.  sounds like you've got a good old plan for the car to get it kinda where it should have been from the factory.  hope you enjoy it!

  3. the low beams are not DRLs, if they headlight switch is not on the low beams do not turn on, there's a little wedge bulb that is the DRL in the high beam reflector.  i think the easiest thing here so we're all on the same page would be to take a couple pictures of the car with the headlight switch turned on, off, and high beams engaged.

  4. got a couple things from DrD, RIP his GT, and got em installed.  master cylinder brace, intercooler pipe and some nets for the trunk.  got em all installed yesterday morning and everything is peachy!

until i hit the highway during rush hour yesterday...i apparently forgot to tighten the clamp around the boost pipe running up to the intercooler. that made for a not very pleasant experience.  was able to get it back on though and limp home...5 turns on a screwdriver and it was back how it should be.  smh.

    Update: Didn't work.

fuel cap/evap shouldn't have much of anything to do with a p0420.  if you have an AP you should be able to log the o2's and verify they're functioning properly.  if they are then you've got a bad cat.  if they aren't then you get to go down the rabbit hole of wiring and electrical.  before firing the parts cannon anymore i'd run some logs and start diagnosing

  6. oh, i'm not condemning anyone or judging, it's just like graduating college when you find out that everyone you knew is suddenly going separate ways...lamenting the loss of the OGs and 2nd generation as everyone moves to different platforms.

i'll prolly never have another subaru, nothing they make interests me and i can't see that chanigng any time in the near future, but until mine's wrecked or parts are unobtainable, i plan to keep this car.  no judgement just how i am.  i've got an automatic for daily status, and that'll change up but the LGT is staying in my stable.
