  1. Dusting this thread off... Wanted to confirm that Thule accessories work with the square Mont Blanc cross bars for the Legacy wagon?
  2. http://www.stinkyteapot.com/kayakwagon.JPG Just the stock Mont Blanc.
  3. Approaching two years. Nothing much to add other than getting some RE960AS tires. Oil pressure sensor wiring gave up recently, exposed right close to the sensor. Still thinking about y-pipe one of these days. Headers are looking a bit grungy, curious how long they will last. Being MadDad, hoping for a least a couple of more seasons.
  4. full headlights aren't much brighter than DRLs at all, at least that's the way it has been with my car since new. Way too close from the I perspective. Caught myself a few times when the car was new driving without full lights on since I could see just fine with DRL light output.
  5. Black or maybe the dark blue whose name eludes me at the moment. It was friggin' pouring, all dark colors looked the same. Do know the wheels were black/dark as well. Multispoke design, a la P1-esque
  6. Route 109 in MA, LGT wagon with aftermarket wheels. 2PM or so today.
  7. Atlantic Blue wagon, 5MT on Beacon St. on Beacon Hill, around #30. Saw it last week...
  8. Been just about a year. As far as issues: 2 passenger headlights. I know, the norm for LGTs! Cover won't fit, so I think on heavy rain days, water is getting in and killing bulb. Oil sender unit from Prosport failed, replacement is doing fine. Again, not that uncommon. Getting Subaru Bucks together for y-pipe/midpipe in spring, and will be the final mod other than wear items for the wagon. Although the current setup is so quiet and without leaks, not sure if I want to bother or not for another 20WHP up top, hehe. Very pleased with the mods I did, still putting a huge smile on my face when driving even after a year. Car has carried my racing kayak down onto beaches, have had five people in it, carried two Christmas trees (one on roof, one in car), Was borrowed by friend for IKEA run and stuffed to the gills along with sofa on roof... The one thing I haven't done was actually race the damn thing after all the latest mods! Did more with it when I was stock, a booo. Will be corrected this season for certain.
  9. Nope. I just smell the rich mixture for a few minutes on a cold start. Nothing from front of car, just from exhaust.
  10. No dynos for anybody anymore in MA. In fact, 1995 and earlier cars don't even get a sniffer anymore. There's no more active sniffing, just computer scan for 1996 and up cars.
  11. For creating this thread? Being me? Driving a wagon? Anyway, 6K miles or so on build, finally replaced oil sender unit and will be returning to ProSport for refund ($30.00 or whatever it is). Oil pressure gauge is working correctly again. Still haven't bothered with a helper spring yet, so slight squeaking with clutch out at stoplights. Oh, noticed some noise from front LCAs in wet conditions. Getting the AVO BOV rebuilt by AVO so I can slap that back on the car at somepoint, or have it at the ready when the stocker finally starts failing, which I think may happen come the cold weather. With the new tougher inspection laws in MA, glad that I held off with a CBE so far. Having the stock mufflers sticking out the back and having it near stock noise level will make things much easier come inspection time.
  12. On the Christmas list this cable goes!
  13. Atlantic Blue wagon with 5MT on Beacon St. near the State House. Looks like a shifter knob swap to boot...did a double-take when I saw it was a manual.
  14. Wasn't too bad, spread out parts order. Spent enough to get a free set of tires thanks to Subaru Bucks, and the selling of older parts (currently) also helped to take the edge off.
  15. Oh jebus... Hehe, bobcats, but I haven't washed the car in months. Comes off easily as well.
  16. 6+ months and 4K+ miles later, all is good in all mods at once land. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l177/ean611/DSCN0656.jpg Problems so far: I broke a front strut mount bolt. Prosport oil sender is reading 5V/145psi at all times, even with engine cold and off, will replace next oil change. Need to get a helper spring for clutch arm, getting some sqeaking while stopped sometimes. Other than the above minor issues the car has been been great. Can get 25 mpg on the highway, mid teens in the city. Combination aggressive city driving and highway miles with kayak on roof gets me a tank average of around 20-22. Still love driving with the radio off to listen to the intake and turbo spool. Having a quiet as stock exhaust is fantastic coming home late at night, accelerating aggressively without being noticed or just being able to disappear into a mass of Outbacks that are all around here in NE. Suspension still is a great balance of increased performance without decreased comfort or ground clearance, been off roading on beaches and down fire roads and haven't come across a clearance issue yet.
  17. Noob? Bah! Was here over a year before you post-whoring noob! Back in my day, we didn't even have a New England forum... We had to rub elbows with New Yorkers. Hmm, time for MA forum?
  18. Garnet Red Pearl sedan with aftermarket wheels, lowered and aftermarket exhaust on Spring St. in West Roxbury weekday mornings. Seen it a few times now. Anybody?
  19. I'd say about $10. $125 total for the Crucial UP work for you?
  20. GRP LGT sedan on South Hanley St. heading towards Clayton, MO Saturday around 1PM.
  21. I'm a little concerned about just using systems with just the small pad on the hull itself. Fairly fragile hull, and folks have had issues with dents appearing at the pad points. It looks like all the L-brackets out on the market just work with specific aftermarket racks, thinking now of homebrewing up some foam wrap a layer or two thicker than what the boat rests on, then clamping it with a band clamp. Will mean the boat is aligned and will give some lateral support, all for like $5. Hmmm...
  22. Anybody use j-bars for their longer touring kayaks with the OEM bars? Anybody have a set they wanna get rid of? Getting tired of having to line-up the boat exactly and want a little less give when crosswinds hit. http://www.stinkyteapot.com/kayakwagon.JPG
  23. Meh, having the 05 Outback do great and the 05 LGT do poorly in side tests in the US (if I remember correctly), but in Europe having the LGT doing well, makes me think real-world crash results aren't going to be all that different. Not that I really care. Being on the bicycle and motorcycle in Boston traffic as often as I am, having any metal around me makes me feel like I'm in a tank.
  24. 2005 non-limited is 115 pounds lighter than a 2008 limited GT, and 230 pounds lighter than a 2008 Spec B. Maybe that's what he meant? But yes, there was only a 65 pound difference between limited and non-limited models in 2005. I like the 2005 model. Got the car I wanted without the frills, along with the color and transmission choice I wanted (well almost). Like the blacked out headlights versus the chrome from later years. No air pump to get in the way of FMIC pipes. Like the look of the 2005 gauges as well. Same goes with the look of the radio controls.
