  1. Yesterday at 6:50pm ....Black LGT with what looked like some body damage to the passenger side rear door (ouch) parked on Grand in front of the anti-cruelty society (by Wells) in downtown Chicago...

That's rclark0032's car. I jacked it from his garage while he's out of town and went for a joy ride. I decided mid powerslide that I wanted to rescue a dog instead. Got clipped by a bus, hence the door damge, but I picked up a real cool schnauzer.

  2. Right, no I meant the other 12v. You have two, the constant 12v and the ACC line that sends the signal to boot the computer.

Where'd you get the remote signal from?

Erp... sorry, didn't read your question right. I'll have to defer to F1 as he hooked up that wire.

  3. f1, what did you tap for your +12v (not the battery)

Nice setup. Is that CF 1.1 just released? I havent updated yet.

we brought a new +12V line into the cabin directly from the battery on it's own fuse.

  4. Sweet jebus, I'm away for a day and the NC goes all to he77. :icon_bigg A fish tape doesn't have to be metal, in fact, a fiberglass or epoxy fish will do nicely in this case. F1, no need to buy one, I have several. And why the questions about running wires to the trunk, were you not conscious during the 10 minutes it took me to get wire from your engine bay into the trunk, zip tied and trim put back together?

The biggest problem in the LGT running large amounts of wire is the bracing in the floor which creates several obstructions along the way. No big deal. We'll get it done.

  5. a little late on the draw here but:

microsoft usb gps antenna, updates fairly quickly no problems through the window defroster, it was a pita to get in there tho :p

I have the garmin GPS antenna for my Kenwood system mounted close to that position. Mine is actually underneath the third brake light housing. Plenty of room and ZERO reception issues. Oh, and stealth FTW!:icon_bigg

  6. So if I bring my car in, I'll have to unmarry the AP, right? I have the resistor fix in for the EGT but have a crucial up and down pipe. Will I throw a CEL. I guess they'd have to be complete morons to miss the up pipe when the hood is open but I'd still like to try to quietly slip in under the radar.

It's obvious if your ECU is bad and needs to be replaced. If the radiator fan runs constantly while the car is warming up, its toast. That's the test outlined in the TSB. So if you fan isn't running, you can leave the AP married, they will replace the relay, verify your fan isn't running, case closed.

  7. So here's the sneaky enclosure I've been talking about. [attach]32388

How did you attach the enclosure to the car? I ask because I have a sub enclosure much like yours in the same position. While it fit snug, the top heavy nature of the sub itself always landed the entire thing on its face somewhere else in the trunk. I finally had a welder friend tack weld a bolt to the trunk floor and drilled a hole in the bottom of the enclosure. Hasn't moved since...

  8. the taller they are...

Why don't you square up your monitor ? :icon_bigg

Done, used a T-square and the CRT geometry proves true. Your touch pad on the other hand.... I bet it looks awesome with the roll top cover closed. Anyway, looks good. Can't wait to see it in action.

  9. Not how much to build one for me but how much for the components? I would like NAV and don’t need all of the other bells and whistles

You don't want those worms, or the can they come in. Buy a Nuvi, schlap it in the cubby and walk away.

  10. :icon_mrgr

    Admiral...whatcha thinkin' ?

Too much sheen on the bezel paint. Hit it with 0000 steel wool to knock a little glare off it. It will be distracting in the sunlight, IMO.

Fab work looks excellent, you've learned a thing or two since your info display relocation days.
