Engine clatter when starting cold.
hkshooter replied to klxdrt's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
No, you are right about what you said. Your error was in applying it to the Subaru engine. Sorry I came off as an ass with my response. It was uncalled for. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk -

Anyone else using conventional w/ 3.6R
hkshooter replied to Beamercub's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
Id have to look it up to be certain but I believe 3.6 calls for synth, not conventional. Mine has had a steady diet of Amsoil since its first oil change. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk -

New buyer, significant loss in power !!!
hkshooter replied to Johney's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
I'm convinced the ECM is programmed to protect the CVT. As mentioned above standing on the gas from a standing start will result in a ho hum launch. On the other hand, roll into the throttle and it has much more power. The computer dials back torque in high load situations to protect the CVT. Once the car is rolling the load on the CVT is much lower so the computer will ramp up the power to what the driver is asking. This is why performance additions that dont directly address ECM programming are little more than cosmetic wastes of money. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk -
It's not just an Ascent issue. B line doesn't run Ascent and they are only getting four hour production numbers. Associates were told last night the issue could run into October. FWIW, B line runs all Outback, Impreza. A line runs all Legacy, Ascent, and a small number of Outback. AFAIK, the issue isn't completely engine related but trim related. It affects all models.

The gist of what I hear is a supplier out of TN can not only not make a quality part, they cant keep up at all. SIA has sent a number of people to look into the issue rumor has it. For now associates are being told production will be very limited, possibly through next week. Management is letting associates go home early daily if they wish. Those who stay are left doing busy work that by now has been done a dozen times already. I hope they get it worked out sooner rather than later. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I wouldn't get hopes up very high for either 2020 Legacy or Outback hitting the showrooms very soon. Production is basically halted because of a supplier problem. Employees are losing hours because of it. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I have to wonder if thinner fluid is aggravating the issue. I've read that's something they changed to lessen parasitic drag in the CVT to help inrease fuel economy. Feels like a bad idea to me but I'm no engineer. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Pilot isn't a name it's a term that refers to the initial trial run of something. The first test run vehicles are called pilots and remain so until production officially starts. SIA has been running pilots of Legacy and Outback 2020MY for weeks now working out the production and quality quirks. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Here is a really good video explaining DIT
hkshooter replied to IcEWoLF's topic in Seventh Generation Legacy (2020 - )
This is the reason I've decided to skip the 2020 DIT. After a couple of years we'll know how the engine does with this problem but until then I want no part of it. -
Wife saw the 2020 Legacy and Outback at the factory yesterday. Hates the Napa leather, says its ugly. I'm not a fan of the color either, hope they have options. She also hates the ridiculous size of the screen. I haven't experienced it yet but may feel indifferent when I do. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I didnt know there was an Ascent forum, will look it up. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Ive been poking around the net and come up dry concerning this, maybe I missed something. I know of multiple complaints about the Ascent but the most disturbing is vehicles going into the shop for CVT problems and failures. Ive heard of one failure and a second problematic unit. These are SIA employees and not rumors. Anyone of you heard any rumblings of such? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

15' 3.6R Legacy H6 Oil Consumption
hkshooter replied to amuse_mee's topic in Sixth Generation Legacy (2015 -2019 )
I'm one of those who's H6 doesn't consume any significant oil, yet. Full after change, full before next change. 90k so far. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk -
Pretend shifts between actual ratios? From one ratio to the next, actual real ratio? I fail to see how this is a pretend shift. But the pretend shifts only occur when the throttle is applied aggressively? So during normal operation there are no pretend shift points. How then do the pleebs not continue to think it feels funny if they aren't in the throttle constantly? This is interesting, I did not know this. Must find something to read. Thanks for your explanation.

If flooring the go peddle ruins the CVT, regardless of miles, it would have been dropped years ago. Something else is amiss, as said above take it back for a warranty look-see.
