  1. I need to drop mine off for an axle boot and lower front ball joint. I don't think i can be bothered to DIY it. Since the wife is already talking about snowboarding trips, I figure the lazy thing to do is keep it another season (versus prepping it to sell) to keep the wear and tear off the VW wagon. I might miss out on this sweet chip car shortage price craziness though.
  2. The interview with Kimi at the end of this is wonderful https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/article.buxton-raikkonens-departure-deprives-us-of-a-true-original-we-may-never-see.5C0x7wxco34nQrIT7aWbwG.html
  3. I love Kimi, sad to see him go, but it's over due. F1 is a young man's sport now. Excited to see all these Russel & Valterie rumors fall into place!
  4. I dunno! Gotta keep them both if you have the space and the yearly insurance cost is minimal. The Legacy and G20 are soon to be classics. G20s are rare and weird and cool!
  5. I have two of my cars on Noco Genius battery tender/chargers. Killed the battery in my 2018 VW, even the repair mode on the Genius couldn't save it. Got to the point where I had to jump to get home from any short trip. And they're all short trips.
  6. oof. Well that answers that. I've been there buddy. It was a sucky time for me getting out and then figuring out who I was post divorce. I refer to my first wife as my practice wife. Can't say I have any advice, other than if you're looking at expensive things, make sure the majority of the reason is it is for you, and less as a "F*ck U". A little FU is okay tho ;-)
  7. Great luck! Just last weekend: Driving up the (in)famous Socal Grapevine freeway (starts north of LA and goes up to 5000 feet), we passed an all lit up fire engine going as fast as it could up the hill. Smoke on the horizon, got closer and could see a brush fire just off the freeway. Traffic bunching up as we got closer, firemen on the hill attacking the fire and 5 or 6 fire vehicles. Next I see a family and all their suit cases on the side of the road near a fireman. And then I see their truck. Not much left of it. Color gone, tires gone, sitting on the wheels, still smoking, completely burnt to the ground. I think it was a 2000+ Chevy truck, but so toasted and just a few glances I couldn't make it out. Everyone safe, it seemed, but their trip was ruined. I was with my mom and she asked me, what could make a car catch on fire? .... I thought of a few things... I chose not to freak her out more and said "i dunno" In car fire hydrant can't hurt. Begs the question: Why Not?
  8. So clean! Paint and body look so good.
  9. On Instagram I have seen some clean (yet simple) Civic and Integra builds being raffled off. like $5 or $25 gets an entry, and the winner gets the car. I assume these guys are making 2-3x what the car is truly worth, or the idea wouldn't make sense. No idea the legal implications or how to do it "legit", but I just wanted to throw that out there. The challenge is getting enough eye balls on the post.
  10. I re-joined too late for the (or too parent) for the meet ups, I'm still hanging around, although I am converting my OBXT back to stock to sell, and fixing some niggling things. Drivers window switch decided to pick "get ready to sell" as the time to fail. I'm on a VW Alltrack forum for my DD, but like this one better.
  11. That needs to go in the meaty tire thread https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/bl-bp-legacy-gt-meaty-tire-thread-223705.html Those look proper wide. I have 265s on the Evo, and "only" 245s on the OB. Same weight, similar hp/tq, both awd. OB tires look inadequate when side by side with the Evo... But I had a tough time with 245s and rubbing both inner front and both rolled lips. I'll be waiting to hear how you make it work out with the coils!
  12. That looks great for fogs, lots of side coverage, and doesn't look like an increase in height above the low beams. Long ago, in the days of manual everything, i would occasionally run my aftermarket fogs only and lights off in the deep tule* fog of central CA. Just worked better with that setup. *TIL it is tule fog not tully fog
  13. Oh, if you have not already found this in your research, the OBs have the exact same inner fender liners and fenders as a Legacy (I type LGT for short, but same for all 4th gen Legacies), yet the OBs have a taller diameter tire. I had mine fenders rolled when i got the Tein springs and Koni's down to below LGT height. Then I had it rolled again (MOAR!) when i went to 245s. It always found a place to rub, but only at extreme angles, which meant I had found the right tire size ;-) When I briefly ran LGT diameter tires, all was good. https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5223264&postcount=30
  14. I used a pressure washer to blast the stickers off my side window. Only two resisted and required the razor blade.
  15. Too funny! Welcome! I still lurk and post on here occasionally. The online Outback world is small!
  16. Here's the post https://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6031179&postcount=1460 "My suspicions were confirmed. I believed at ~1.5" front drop on legacy coilovers I was binding the suspension and loading the FSB. I suspected this because when I decreased the lower spring seat .25 to go from 1.25 drop to 1.5 drop the wheel arch measurement did not change... Here's the page so you can read it in context: https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/did-you-do-your-outback-todayi-v3-276010.html?p=6031232#post6031232 This isn't exactly answering your tire question, but before you start lowering, you should be considering the suspension limits. For tires, you can switch to a LGT sized tire to go lower partly due to smaller over all tire diameter making you closer to the ground, and partly due to smaller diameter tire fitting in the wheel well better. Swap in LGT ABS unit to fix the speedometer error (I have one I need to sell for 05-06.... not sure about newer OBs). But you said stock tire size: Stock tire size: I was on 0.9" lower than stock LGT springs with LGT (Koni) struts/shocks (fixed, not coil overs) on stock OEM OB wheels n tires. There's some rubbing at extreme turn angle, but nothing terrible. I'm not sure how low that is compared to stock OB.
  17. We just covered that recently. might be in another thread. Let me look for it.
  18. This weekend I didn't do shit to my OB (despite a long list of things to do to it), but last weekend I installed a KYB "Strut-Plus" shock/strut/spring/hat combos on all four corners. They were exact matches to the stock pieces. Went in real smooth. A joy to install. rides pretty firm, but I only have a few miles on it around the block.
  19. I had my remote wash guy do his paint correction, polish, and "1 year" ceramic coat to my Evo and Alltrack. Both came out great and it's well past 1 year, the coating is holding up well, although both cars are garaged and lightly driven due to Covid. Like I said, I didn't apply it, but it's this Chemical Guys stuff: https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-WAC23016-HydroCharge-Motorcycle/dp/B07PZ92KJ3 I also had him apply the ceramic coating to the outer surface of the Alltrack's Fifteen52 wheels, which I highly recommend. Bonus story time! A few months ago, I stupidly moved some spray paint cans into the garage real quick and closed the door. Two days later I drove my Alltrack out and *BOOM* drove over one. Paint splatter all over the garage floor, some on the wall, and oh crap! A few hundred specs on the right side off the Alltrack and RF wheel. My wife heard the bomb go off and came right out. We spent the next 45 min flicking paint specs off the car (Quality time!). With the ceramic coating, it just flicked off with a finger nail, and we collected it with scotch tape (trial and error eventually landed on scotch tape). Then I spent another 30-60 min cleaning up the RF wheel. where again, the paint came right off. The inside of the LF wheel also got hit in the cross fire, but since the inside was not ceramic coated the spray paint did not come off. I tried to move fast, as I didn't want to find out how much more difficult it would be to remove once cured. Literal night and day difference between the ceramic coated surfaces and not.
  20. uh can i throw my hat in here? I'm prepping my '06 OBXT 5MT to sell. I have new KYBs all the way around on the way, freshly rebuilt VF41, lightly built forged piston motor, but other wise stock, lol. And I have a bunch of performance parts I could toss in the back for the right price.
