  1. Well I just shipped the trans. It was pricey, $114.00. Hopefully this works out and helps you guys.
  2. Glad to hear all is well. You will be fine with the stock clutch at stage 1. Enjoy having a nice easy reliable car.
  3. Hey guys, Just a heads up. Now that I have confirmed the trans and shifter will work I have my STI STS( the factory one available for our cars)the whole unit, my perrin short shift adapter, and brass bushing. I am not actively selling them, but if any of you guys are in need just let me know.
  4. I just spoke with Vince who is going to be building the blast plates. He is really excited to get working on everything. I will ship it out tomorrow.
  5. I will just add that to the parts list. It is getting pretty large at this point, but oh well. All the more fun. I will try the factory starter. I have heard that it works in some cases and not in others.
  6. Great Thanks Looks like I will be buying a starter as well. I will see what I can do with the shift mech I have, but can always switch it if need be.
  7. I am using the shifter from an 07 so GDB I am guessing. I have been wondering about the starter. Do you happen to know if my stock flywheel will work with an STI pressure plate? I measured the trans dimensions for the starter and it is real close. I guess I will just have to see. I will test the starter before installing the IC for sure.
  8. SO I spent some time installing the shift linkage this afternoon. The STI rear shift bushing bolts right in with no modifications. The bolt holes are there and ready to go. Once installed everything works as planned, but the center console on our cars sits a bit to far back so I can not get the car in 1st. The picture of the stick below is with the car in 3rd. So looks like I am going to have to modify the stick itself to move it back a bit. Should be pretty easy. While I am at it I am going to modify the shifter to shorten the throw as well. Another thing you might notice is that the stick itself sits quite a bit lower than ours. I am pretty happy with it and I think it will be pretty sweet when I am finished modifying it.
  9. Here is a pic of the mount installed. As you can see it is a really tight fit.
  10. Update:I picked up a box to ship the trans on Friday. I will be calling the guy Monday and then shipping the transmission.
  11. Trust me no offense taken. I like your idea. The drivers side stock mount will not work without serious modification to the bellhousing though. Funny part is, last night after thinking about your idea I planned out a whole way to make it out of aluminum. At least that way I will be prepared.
  12. Mainly the not having the tig available. Another big problem though is the STI trans takes up a ton of room. I am sure the passenger side would have enough room, but the drivers side is super tight now. I would have to mount some pretty serious anchors to the bell housing and diff area to hold the aluminum mount. I am just not sure that there would be enough room in there for that. Of course I am always open to other ideas. Once I get this all together my mounts may not work worth a crap at all and I will be back to square one. I admit my mounts are funky. I am just hoping they work.
  13. So here is mount numero dos. As I said pain in the booty. There is not a straight line on this thing. This one goes around the starter, which was a real picnic to accomplish. It is pretty much done though. I checked it several times for strength by throwing it about 20 feet through the air and all seems well. I will install it tomorrow. Next step is figuring out what I need to do to the shifter. More to come.
  14. Injector swap walkthrough. Not the best but I hope it helps http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/injector-swap-tutorial-252224.html?t=252224&highlight=injector
  15. So this morning I spent a few hours on mount number two. I should have it finished later tonight and I will post some pics. I have to say that the drivers side is a million times harder than the passenger. I had to negotiate between the heater hoses, steering rack, and the starter. Then of course I had the basic mount made and then I had to figure out how to get it in there. All I can say is that this one is a royal PITA. Almost finished with it though.
  16. I will look into the shipping cost tomorrow and hopefully get this rolling for us.
  17. Just an update. Sorry for the delay guys. The whole family and I have all been sick. Should have more done in a few days.
  18. After closely inspecting our case vs the STI case, our case is definitely a weak point. It is just a ton smaller with no reinforcement to speak of. Mind you it can handle a lot of power. I am sure I could have kept driving with mine for quite a while before the bearings went completely. I really have no idea if blast plates will help or not, but they can not hurt.
  19. I would say my car has been highly molested. What a shame. Sorry honey my car is just to weird to sell now, guess I will just have to keep it.
  20. I just spoke with Joe about this. My transmission case is already stripped down to nothing. I would be more than happy to get the transmission to the guy, but I need to see what the cost would be. Its not super heavy, but is rather large. Any ideas on the best way to ship it?
  21. Thanks a ton for the link. That is really nice to see the ratios side by side. The only difference that I can see must be in the tire diameter. I have 6500 in 4th at 98 mph. That is the only difference I can see between your car and mine.
  22. My rev limiter is at 7500rpm. Cams make a difference:cool:
  23. When I was tuning I had to do 3rd pulls to the limiter. That put me at 107. Made finding a good spot a bit tricky. Ended up using a runway. Worked real nice.
