  1. The figures I calculated were with my size tires.
  2. ^^^Bout time you chimed in here. Yep the shorter gearing is a drawback, but will make it much quicker. I just checked and 4th on the 05 trans at 7200rpm is 109 mph. 6th on the freeway will be about 350rpm's higher than I was before. I think the power split is 35/65
  3. I am sure there is a tcm somewhere that controls both the SI drive and the dccd. I could be totally wrong though. Someone with actual knowledge will have to tell us for sure.
  4. I am guessing it is just the switch, especially considering the price.
  5. That would be an interesting idea. The price is not bad either. I may look at one in person to see what size it is.
  6. I prefer the oem ones that he sells, but they are pricey. I haven't really decided yet.
  7. fahr_side: Thanks for the info. I was doing a bunch more research last night and the dccdpro seemed like the way to go. I actually just finished a brief email conversation with Jeff at dccdpro and he was very helpful and his answers assured me I would be getting what I need even given the heavier weight of my car vs an STI.
  8. Thanks a ton for that info. Once I have both mounts and I verify that they work I will do that for sure.
  9. Generally you would just leave it in auto. This allows the computer to determine how much center diff lock to apply and where to send the power. More front or more rear. It does this via a g sensor located as close as you can to the weight center of the car. Standard on the trans I am installing is 35/65 front rear, but with the controller that can be changed quite a bit either way. In an STI there are also several manual settings and most aftermarket DCCD controllers let you program several manual settings as well. You could tailor these to snow or sporty street driving etc.. I think in general you want less center lock for street giving a rear bias and slippery you want more lock front bias. That is how I understand things. I am sure someone else knows more , so feel free to chime in.
  10. Anyone have any opinions or know of someone who has any opinions on DCCD controllers. I have looked into several, but reviews are few. Any help would be appreciated. Fred or fahr_side maybe?
  11. I just checked a bunch of my logs and I am hitting peak at 3800rpm. Mind you the 20g is a bit different, but if anything it would have a bit more lag than stock.
  12. My daily mission is to see what I can do to my car to ensure that it can never be traded in and only a crazy person like me would want to buy it. So far I think I am right on track.
  13. So I finally finished the mount. Of course I had another birthday to go to today, but managed to squeeze in time for this. I am pretty happy with it. The welds are by no means professional looking, but it should be plenty strong and serve the purpose.
  14. So I am almost finished with the passenger side mount. Between one daughters basket ball game and a birthday party for another I just did not have the time today. It should be finished tomorrow. It is coming along very nicely and I think it should work great. Most importantly it fits. I will post up some pics tomorrow. Here is a tease for the dialup.
  15. Phoenix is nice. Close to lots of gorgeous country too. Would I pick it over Idaho, no, but you have done Idaho. The only problem with AZ is it is damn hot. You would be that much closer to me though. Just bring me the Legacy and I will get it working for you. I would love to see those two next to each other.
  16. I'm there. I have some friends in NJ. We can all go out and rebuild the motor. That is after S2's of course.
  17. Guys Thank you so much for all the help and encouragement. I will be fabricating the passenger mount this weekend. It is pretty much just welding a bunch of pieces together. Depending how it turns out it might be nice to have one of you see if you could digitize the designs for others use. That is if they work of course. fahr_side: Nice to hear that someone else has attempted this. As far as I can tell this is all just mechanical and fab work. The only real electronics will be in the dccd and hooking up the reverse and neutral sensors, but that stuff is pretty simple. I am just going to take my time and make sure to do this right.
  18. Literally spit out my coffee I laughed so hard. This weekend I am going to start making the mounts. That should be the hardest part. After that everything else is pretty straightforward. At least that is the theory anyway.
  19. Spent a little bit looking at the shifter this evening. This is the STI shifter installed . It is a bit lower than our shifter and while I need to adjust a few things it actually is not that much. Maybe only a half inch. I also have to figure out how to mount it, but wait for it. This is the best part. In our trans tunnel at the back of the shifter hole, the bolt holes for the rear sti shifter mount are already there. Crazy huh. All I need is to buy the rear shifter mount and bolt it in and I am set. Maybe once it is all installed I will not have to modify it at all.
  20. Thats the JDM rear lip right. Worth some money if it is.
  21. Thanks a ton for the gear info. I will be sure to use that when the time comes. I have Rom raider, just dont use it that much. I am sure I will touch base with you when things get closer to the finish.
  22. The other nice benefit is that now I will actually be able to get to the strip without having to worry as much about blowing up the transmission.
  23. ^^^On 91 oct my car is as topped out with power as possible. If I could get 93 or e85 trust me I would. For now I will just have to settle for what I have.
  24. Stu: I had considered going with a later model, but alas it comes down to what was available locally and how much I wanted to spend on a question. The one I got has relatively low miles. The two main things I wanted were dccd and the helical front diff. Those both came in the 05, so I went with it. FL:Thanks. While the gears will be shorter our final drive is 4.11 so I am not sure what the real world difference will be. Should be quicker though. Just what I needed right.
  25. Well I can tell you the stock trans does not seem happy with over 400 hp. Go figure.
