I have never seen or heard of a car that develops a cracked fuel pump housing which leaks fuel vapors into the cabin. To those who don't know, fuel vapor is the most dangerous state of fuel because it is the fuel vapor that actually ignites!
And the only place you will find a new stock housing assembly for an 06 LGT Sedan 5AT is from the official subaru parts website where it lists some dealers that have it for $380.
You are right the vapors are the most dangerous but if it's below the LEL then nothing will happen. The mixture is too lean to burn.
MTBWrench's point about the fuel housing is it's plastic and plastic does have a useful lifetime. Just like rubber. There are various factors that affect that lifespan temperature being a pretty major one.
And you don't need to buy a new one from the dealer unless you are that OCD about the parts on your car. You can buy one from a salvage yard that is in good shape, buy it from an aftermarket source that makes parts identical to dealer ones at fractions of the cost. That part is up to what you want to do. Since it is your car.

About 3:45 this afternoon westbound across the Carquinez Straight bridge SWP 05-06 don't remember if the headlights had chrome housings or not LGT sedan. Looked possibly lowered and had an STi badge above where it says legacy on the trunk. I was the guy running across. The bridge that busted a 180 to see the back of your car as you went by.

I'm planning on doing a cross country road trip one summer to go to as many events as I can.
-
But then I'd be working ships on the great lakes. That doesn't sound as cool as open ocean stuff to me.

Thats the plan right now. I'll probably have a better idea next week after the career fair. Hoping to have a couple job options lined up following that.
-
Probably not going to work out then. Graduation is end of April and I don't even think I'll be heading down to SoCal between now and then.
-
Yup that's the one. I've had the part number written down for awhile. Just haven't bothered to order one on partsouq.

Mine's about that bad. stock mid, extra long hangers, and LGT muffs hanging low to clear the Outback's no-cut-out bumper. It scrapes often.
It's on my "to do" list.
Going to have the outback in the bay area any time soon? We could see how the LGT rear bumper fits without the flares. It'd give you cutouts.

Looking good my friend. Curious, the REV D-F tail gate garnish...how easy was it to install it? Were you able to get the rear fog to work?
Install is super easy all the bolt holes are the same as the usdm one so it comes off quite easily and then goes back on. There's a ton of bolts though so if it isn't coming off there's still one holding it back somewhere. Right now I haven't run separate wires for the rear fog and I just have it plugged into the reverse light harness and it works. I've been thinking about getting a euro LHD signal stalk that has the extra switch position in the stalk for the rear fog and then wire in a relay and have it be like a factory set up.

Yeah he had it done yesterday.

My buddy's STi with a 20G that got tuned at PIA right before you did with the 1.5xtr and he just did an IAG block and got tuned yesterday and hit the magic 400 at 22psi. Definitely looking forward to what you wagon puts down.

Okay so you list 3 instances of it happening. Again, It's not a design flaw as it isn't a widespread issue and there is nothing to show of anything specific causing the crack. Plastic gets brittle over time. Like I said before, just buy another one and replace it.
If I did have something like this happen in my car I would figure out what caused it to fail. If it was due to age, poor design, an added stress on it somehow, etc. I've had my assembly out in the past year and the design is definitely not a bad design. If you get the gasket down and tighten down the retaining ring properly and torque it properly it shouldn't have issues.
-
Cracking left and right? This is the first instance of it happening that I have heard of. Just buy another housing off ebay and throw it in and move on. It's not common enough nor is it a design flaw that will cause it to fail to warrant a recall.

That kit is pretty cheap but if those are halogen lights, they won't be worth the trouble.

Eh either way I would retrofit in LHD projectors and quality HID bulbs.

^i want that but can't afford or justify it.

You are correct about the Mach V wing being a replica of the Liberal. Once you have all the parts together and painted on your wagon I might have to make a trip down to SoCal put our wagons next to each other. I just put a JDM rear onto mine as well to complete the look. I may have missed it earlier but what is the final color that you are going to go with?

Ohhh Albero. There's one for sale in the classifieds here. I'll have some pictures for this thread this weekend. Just put my JDM rear on

They all do have the cutouts for mounting a plate. My front end came with a bracket and I have to run a front plate otherwise I will get ticketed while in my schools parking lot. But it wouldn't be hard to fill the area where the holes are and smooth before getting paint done and then you'd have a nice smooth JDM front end.

Spotted on CL being parted out. Who lost their 07 facelift swapped wagon? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/ptd/5953422515.html

Did you have to roll your fenders? I've seen people saying they had to roll at least the rear with the width/offset you're running. Looking to run a similar wheel size
Yeah I rolled my fenders when I was at stock height with these wheels and 235/40 tires. Had to roll them more when I went to coilovers.
love your rear spoiler mate!Thanks!
