You'll have to either source a jdm crash bean or trim your usdm one. But other than that it will not on. You can complete it more with the fender liners too

Went to an event a couple weekends ago and I guess someone there snagged this after I was parked. Makes the poor fitment of winter wheels not look so bad.
Bought an 07 spec b interior last week from a wrecker whose parting out a car. They should arrive to me next week at some time hopefully. I've kinda changed my mind with my plans for paint. Thinking I'm going to get all the dings taken out and the whole car resprayed rather than just the front end. And it probably won't remain OBP, still staying black but it will be slightly different and not a Subaru black.

If I'm not on a ship I would be down to make a trip down there to be on the pit crew.

Oh, wow. Didn't even realize it was his. At some point I put in STI BP5 wagon into a saved search. They hit me with rando listings all the time. How's yours working out, Magnuson? Fitment looked better than the Liberal in pics posted somewhere on the forum.
Fitment is definitely better than the MachV one I have sitting under my bed collecting dust. The one I have still isn't perfect but Madrig redid the mold and the fiberglass ones he produced fixed the small fitment issues that mine had. He's actually making me another one that has the updated fitment.

The passenger seat once we figured out what needed to be done wasn't hard either. So basically:1) swapping over the driver's seat isn't too hard
2) don't bother with the passenger seat unless you have to
What's a used Spec B seat go for?
Used spec b seats tend to be around $1000 for fronts and rears with door cards.

Into an 05 that would be an absolute pain to make work.I actually wonder if it'd be possible to install the 2015+ wrx seat in our cars. Reason why I'd be interested to do that is they seem to provide additional legroom for the rear passengers.OP, would you like to make another how-to thread [emoji38] ?
For any of the cars that use the bladder tye occupant sensor it would be an easy swap and totally worth it. For 05's though I don't think it would be possible. After extracting the occupant sensor out of my 09 seat and installing it in my JDM STi Recaro, I really think that part isn’t much of an issue. The bigger issue is the mounting brackets. -
After swapping 08 Spec B seats into an 05 LGT wagon with Kalien32 we thought we would do a little write up as we did as few possible changes based on piecing together what others had done from various threads. We both hope that this is thorough enough to help others with similar seat swaps in the future. At the end of this there were no airbag lights and all functions of the seats continued to work as they are designed.
So we'll start with the drivers side as its the easiest. The only things you need to save from your 05 seats are the magnetic position sensor, we just drilled out the rivets on the 05 and plugged it in and coiled it up under the 08 seat once it was installed, the plug for the power into the seat, and you'll also need to retain your 05 seat belt buckle receiver. The memory function of the 08 Spec B seat still works as well.
Power plug
Magnetic Sensor
Seat belt buckle is pretty self explanatory. Just unplug the harness and move it over to the new seat.
Passenger side is a bit more complicated and we tried as much as we could to use as little of the 05 seat as possible, that didn't happen
So we started by attempting to plug in the 08 seat directly and see if there would be an airbag light, then we realized there aren't near enough plugs under the seat.
Bottoms of the seats. 08 on the left, 05 on the right. Lot less wiring under the 08.
Tops of the seats, really wish we could have used the 08 as it probably sits 2" lower and Kalien32 isn't short so if he's ever in his passenger seat he doesn't have as much room as his drivers side.
You'll also see the hinge and recline motors are still attached in that last picture, the brackets are different on the base side so you gotta swap those over as well.
Then you get to the wiring, for whatever reason when they were built in 05 the plug on the car side of the harness is the same as the plug on the seat side for the 08, so we snipped the connector on the 08 and the 05 seatbelt receiver and spliced the wires together, I guess you could swap the receivers over but we had tan receivers and we were swapping the interior to black in the process.
Then when you put the covers back on the 08 leather needs some trimming to fit properly and you need to use 05 plastic side pieces as the 08 ones won't fit onto the 05 seat base.

Please, someone buy this to save me the trouble. If you missed Madrig's custom tail spoiler flash-in-the-pan sale, here's another chance to get your wang on.
Yup that's Madrigs work on both eBay and here in the classifiedsIs that the same one that's in the classifieds? -
Get a quote for painting your old one RBP.
I didn't ask about getting the current one redone in RBP but it would probably be about $300-400.
Got quoted $1000 to have the facelift parts painted and the bumper cover smoothed out from the little bit of curb rash on the bottom and getting the license plate area filled and smoothed as well as getting my hood redone. Was tempted to do it now but then decided to wait till spring time to get it done so it doesn't get all rock chipped from all the extra dirt and grime on the roads during the winter.
-
I haven't decided yet. Part of me wants to hoard it and swap it out as a winter bumper, and part of me realises that that's impractical and I should probably sell it. Im going to get a quote for getting the fenders and bumper repainted on Monday and that will kinda decide my timeline of getting it all installed. What are you doing with the old bumper? I may be interested. -
Maybe a mod can merge this into the V2 thread?
Can do.

How does the paint look?
Its currently DGM and actually in decent condition. The bottom US drivers side Japan Passenger side has some scrapes of what look like driving over a parking curb but not too bad. It will have to be repainted OBP anyways though as will my fenders as they are silver.
Two random internet people coming to my neck of the woods (Yokohama)? Weird. If you two want to chill or anything; beer, food, a ride in my rather modest '05 3.0R wagon, let me know.I know I just made this account. I'll post my wagon somewhere here soon so you know I'm not a serial killer or anything.
Yeah I'll be at the US Military North dock in Yokohoma for the first week of January. We've got quite a bit of maintenance to do on the main engine though so my time off will be limited to the evenings but I'm always up to meet up with people!
bring back a lip for this bumper please !!!Going to have to keep looking for one. The car this came off of didn't have a lip installed.
-
Well I was just about to give up on bringing back a bumper with me when the guy I bought facelift fenders from in August messaged me saying he'd gotten another facelift bumper. So I decided it was meant to be especially since he was able to deliver the bumper to me during my lunch break today right at the ramp of the ship.
Also after seeing and hearing his Autech RS26 Stagea I need an RB26 in my life. Such a smooth sounding engine.

I'm still contemplating a set of 08 spec B seats. I like the blue and have blue accents in my JDM headlight, grampus markers, and DAMD D shaped wheel so I think the blue alcantara might be a bit much.
Plus they are a year or 2 older and likely in worse condition.
I'm kinda in the same boat. The 07 seats I'm trying to work a deal on have one small imperfection on the drivers seat base but I'm worried that it might just be too much blue. I may end up doing the 09 seats kalien has and redo the stitching to be blue to match the DAMD wheel I ordered.

Gunnar, check out Up-Garage. It should be a fairly ubiquitous chain, meaning multiple locations. It's like an Autozone for aftermarket stuff.
Also get me neat 2012 Civic SI stuff. I'll paypal you.
I'll have to keep an eye out for an up-garage. I did a search and couldn't find any near where we docked but they may not all come up when I'd searched.
Any possibility of bringing bumpers or hoods back from Japan?Probably not. I started thinking I wanted to try to bring back a bumper cover for my car but the more I thought about it when I get off in Tacoma then I'll be walking around with a bumper and trying to get a cab or something to the train station big stuff just makes it difficult.
On the OEM footwell lighting, did you get both front and back?I believe it is front and back. It is the kit listed on Japan parts. I only saw one kit and it didn't say anything about being front only or front and rear.
What dates will you be there? I'll be in Yokohama the 29th of December through the 9th of January.I believe we get in on the 31st and then I think we leave on the 8th. I already know I more than likely will only have time off the ship in the evenings as we are pulling a piston on the main engine while there as well as changing out several exhaust valves all of which are full day projects with all hands needed for getting it done.

Coming up on Japan again in the next couple weeks. This time on the plus side the schedule shows 10 days in Yokohama which should give me time to explore and maybe find some places to buy parts. In the mean time I decided I needed to write down everything I've ordered so I remember what to look for and who to get in touch with when I get back.
Japan parts
-DAMD Wheel
-Aluminum pedal covers
-OEM Footwell lighting
Legacybt
-Ohlins
Friend back home
-Prodrive P1 with snow tires
Currently working on a deal to get a full set of 07 spec b seats and door cards and have talked with kalien32 about potentially trading him for his 09 spec b seats based on which looks better in my car if the blue alcantara is too much.

If you're getting a new driveshaft made I'd just get a solid one piece one that doesn't need a carrier bearing.
-
seent the F7LTHY cars in person. No rice among them.
-
#395 out of 450 manufactured..
How did you get a number? The 07's weren't numbered I thought.
-
Following! Excited to see you get more done on your car in the near future!

black sunroof trim.
You've peaked my interest. I was unaware that the black headliner and the sunroof could be had together in the tbSTi model. I didn't think any of black headliner car had a sunroof.

And we need another driver who has disposable income. PM if you want to work in exchange for driving.
Rid myself of student loans or racecar? :spin:

I'm actually in Japan right now docked at our last port before we head back across the ocean. I haven't had any time to go parts looking in the 2 weeks we've been jumping around ports because we have been in and out so quickly. I did find out that there's the possibility that I can ship stuff to the ports we are coming to and the ships agent can pick it up to give to the ship. I need to talk with the captain to see what all goes into that but that may be an option for the next time around I'm over here.
-
You'd have to cut the USDM one almost completely for it to work. I looked into it when I did mine. Then I just decided no crash beam and I'll be fine.
