  1. Hey Climber,

I have a question that's been asked about thousand times (but perhaps not recently).

Have you been able to develop an improved valve body or any kind of shift kit for the 07+ VDC cars? If not, are you still researching and do you have any kind of timeline for release?

It was asked a month/2 ago.

    It is not possible.

  2. Maybe I didn't clarify enough. I am looking for a killer deal on lower control arms considering a bunch of individuals picked up some Mevotechs on Ebay and other sources for way the hell under retail. Many of you have extras. I would like to purchase a pair of those extras. I will just install the Whiteline bushings on my stock arms if I have to pay over $100 an arm. Thank you in advance. By the way, does anyone know of a cheap replacement axle for an 05 LGT that actually works and doesn't cause vibration? Can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere. Thanks again.

Most purchases were not honored. Those that did ether installed them, or are going to install them soon.

$100 an arm with new solid bushings and ball joints is still a killer deal. IIRC arms are $350+ each from a dealer.

  3. That's a common issue with the 4eat. It ether hard shifts 2-3 or it has a shift flare(RPMS keep climbing) 2-3 as it gets older.

I had good luck in my forester by doing a few ATF drain/fills with high mileage ATF and seafoam trans tune. After 2-3 months the problem went away.

  4. I'm with you. If it didn't require that much unbolting, I would yank mine out. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to feel what the transmission is doing and how it is shifting, but it's also not nice that you are getting NVH.

It felt cool a few years ago, now I've got two kids and a much more serious job, ain't nobody got time for this NVH bullshit.

I will say this, The car use to change shape when launching, the front would lift by 2+ in(or feel like it did). With the gpn mounts and tranny bushing the car launches flat.

I've been using castrol transmax J in mine. It's available locally and is 'ok'ed' by subaru to use.

  5. Installed a raliteck 'comfort' trans bushing and new mount today.

Car already has group N engine mounts and pitch stop.

I would not install the bushing again, I'm getting a vibration through the peddles/floor now that's minorly annoying, and it didn't improve anything over the engine/pitch stop(would do again)

  6. open loop just pushes you into rich fueling territory. closed loop tries to keep you around 14.7 AFR which is the chemistry balanced ideal AFR for combustion engines, I guess. Usually when you're in open loop it's under heavy driving load (WOT) so it just pushes a rich mixture into the car to be safe.

this is my VERY simple understanding of how it works.

Closed loop trys to target the closed loop table via maf and O2 sensor.

Open loop only looks at the maf.

  7. I'd hope they were getting 02-07 WRX (that also doesn't have flex fuel support) confused with 05-09 LGT support. Being that the Legacy shares much with the 08+ WRX, which has support, hopefully that is good for us seeing it sooner than the early WRX guys.

pretty much what I asked them...

    Hello Zach,

Unfortunately, they share very little when it comes to implementing the FlexFuel feature.

    Thank you,

    Drew

  8. Hello Zach,

Thank you for contacting COBB support!

FlexFuel is something that we will certainly be looking into for the early 2002-2007 cars going forward, but I am unable to provide a concrete timetable.

To be completely honest I estimate that it will be more than 12 months as DIT is the current focus!

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

    Thank you,

    Drew

    :(

  9. Next question. Sometimes the car 'forgets' to shift out of first and hits redline at 7200rpm.

It only happens when accelerating from a stop at WOT.

It doesn't happen every time, maybe 2% of the time it does.

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I had that crap happen a few times, bone stock everything.

It's more or less normal. As in, it has been reported here by many different owners. I am guessing you are not stock? Basically the transmision doesn't respond quick enough for how fast the car revs up.

    stg 3....

Its odd because it's not every time:spin:

$300 bounty for anyone that can crack the TCU?

    Bringing this back up...

Is there anything that I can do the reduce the amount that it happens? The 1/2 shift over revs almost every time when launching now that I have a TS setup:spin:

  10. I reached out to Kevin in the past to compare notes,

    Hopefully he'll reply.

Note that his turbo spools up in the mid 4.5K which puts less stress in the tranny

The EFR 7163 single scroll spools about 500rpm sooner, and a twin scroll version

should spool up in the mid 3.5K on my 83mm crank 2.6L strocker - that should put the tranny to a real test - several people have grenaded their 5EATs imidietly after installing a twin scroll turbo - high load kills

My 20g twinscroll will hit 20psi at 3k.... Brake boost launches at 10psi too.

    I haven't blown anything up, yet:redface:
