About $150/month would be normal.
-
No it is not the same as the vf40. Only the vf40 is the vf40.
-
Not recall worthy. If it was an issue, someones car would have blown up by now. They still use the same fuel pump/assm design in the new cars.
You car is old, it broke, deal with it.
-
You use the larger one with that came with the turbo. It has a larger shaft/bearings/etc over the stock one.
I opted to use one of the kinugawa AN fittings with a proper orifice built in rather than a banjo bolt.
-
Bump it with the starter to get it off.
Wd40 is NOT penitrating oil.

Get a pulley wrench from Company 23 or a 1/2" impact gun will do it. Jamming a screwdriver in the flexplate would be my last resort.
It's worked for generations of cars with automatics.
I'm sure someone makes a fancy tool that only makes the job more difficult and your wallet lighter.
Most of these fancy tools also only work with the stock pulley and damage aftermarket ones.
-
Maybe I'm just stupid, but how do I get the crank pulley off on a 5EAT?
Screwdriver
Flexplate
There's a rubber cap under the intercooler.

So, figure on some DW1300 Topfeed conversion as part of the cost? Group buy on those?
They've dropped their prices drastically since I looked at them last. Prices are much more reasonable.
I know where my tax return $$$$ is going:lol:

You need a +30% larger injector to get to the same power your making now and more to take advantage of the benefits of e85.
-
I've read of that happening, but not how to fix it.
Fluid level/type?

I'm about to get a severance check from my job, wondering how much I'm money going to need to do this? I'll be doing it on a 2006 legacy gt.

More than you think + the cost of a totaled manual lgt.

Welp, one more thing I can say "JDM YO!" about:Ebay: JDM Legacy Transmission Cooler
The automatic '14+ VX and impreza also have these, and the hose routing on those is a bit simpler. I'm hoping this JDM one will bolt up to the USDM transmission.
Can anyone tell me where to get coolant to make this thing work? I cant find a good diagram of where this even was mounted on the JDM car.
Edit: it mounts on the front driver side of the tranny.

So I guess I'd bypass the line going TO the oil filter/air cooler into this contraption. No idea how to get coolant to it still. Heater hoses are in this area, and there is also the throttle body heating stuff that could be tapped.
The only place I've seen those used is on 5th gen cars. I've seen that exact listing, I think it's a mistake and was taken from a 5th gen.

Because they didn't make that many.
I can't say that Ive ever seen one....

I figured... too bad a junk 5EAT is impossible to come by in these parts! I've called a few Subaru specific yards, but nobody has junk cores with sensors still in them! If it's not one thing it's another with this damn wagon. Looks like it's a $400 harness or bust.
I would have to look at the spare 5eat I have, but I'm fairly certain that harness is part of the trans like the 4eat. It has all of the VB plugs on it/etc as well. It doesn't come off without disassembly. I would bet it's just a dumb junkyard tech.
Make a CL/facebook. It seems someone is always parting out a 5eat lgt. I use to know where 3 different cars were sitting being parted out in WI.
-
Does anyone know of a way I can get a turbine speed sensor without buying a $350 harness?
The shop cracked them on both transmissions...

A junk transmission. I ran into similar issues when rebuilding a 4eat harness that was eaten. Harness was ~$350 too.
-
Does the center diff and trans share the same fluid? I'm asking because my planet gears teeth are destroyed and so metal particals are probably everywhere. So I don't know the extent of repair and surgery I have to do besides rebuilding or buying a whole new center diff.
Yes.

Talked with them a couple weeks ago. The kits will be developed and produced in the following order:
1) 15+ WRX (early 2017 release)
2) 02-07 STI
3) 05-09 LGT

So another 2+years?

$200ish...
-
built motor and blouch 1.5, running ethanol? think it'll be ok with this?
No.
If your building the engine, and going with a larger turbo and E, you can spend the $800 to build the transmission too.
-
More than the stock turbo can make if you don't launch the car.
-
Good for you. Bushings are also cheap and plentiful. Congrats on abusing your car. Super interesting.
I have the brass bushings, and VB mod, etc...
Someone wanted to know how the car holds up with boost launching with CD bushings, I answered.
-
It'll happen eventually.
5eats are cheap and plentiful. I have 1 spare right now, I may pick up another:lol:
Yeah, i never quite understood that table so i jus set my boost to 14psi at <3000 rpm. I launch at around 12psi @ 3000 in my video. Considering that it is a 2.0 liter it's a lot less torque than my brethren below.15 psi @3K in a 2.5 liter is a lot of torque dude. haha. What RPM did u launch at?
Whenever the light turned green
-
I abuse my car... The CD hasn't blown with me having to stand on the brakes to keep the car from moving. 15+psi launch.
-
Providing it's not $1200 for the tune alone, plus all of the hardware, like the other company I would be in.
Valve Body Mods, Giant Leaps Forward!!!
