Today: I installed a spare bumper I had painted 5 years ago (lol), front lip, and finished up the grill and grill mounted fogs. Last week I cleaned up the JDM headlights and fixed the LED DRL’s.
I’m finishing up projects on the car and getting it cleaned up enough to sell it. We bought a model 3 and getting back in this loud thing is just irritating. I wouldn’t mind keeping it as the Home Depot run car, but it’s just too loud and smelly in comparison.
I thought about parting it out, but My garage is too short to get the engine out and driveway too steep to safety remove the carcass if I pulled the $$$ suspension and breaks.
I know that feeling. I inherited my Dad’s Model S when he passed away and my Outback has just been sitting since. So much so that I need to drive it around to get all the sensors ready so I can smog and register it. Not to mention that my dog hates the vibration and constant noise of the Outback too. The only reason I’m trying to get it registered is that it is my best vehicle for throwing a stand up paddleboard on. Also all of the “smart” features of the Tesla make driving the Outback tedious.

Darn...I guess I'll have a set for sell in next couple weeks or I'll swap my front end

That’s what I ended up doing. I bought the air dams first thinking they would fit the USDM bumper. When they didn’t, I bought a JDM front bumper thinking I had everything. Then I realized that I was going to also need JDM headlights, JDM grille, JDM fenders, and some other small JDM bits (+USDM Legacy hood) to make it all work.
-
Noticed that one. Also saw the wagon waist spoilers, the outback front air dams that I've never seen before (I assume jdm fitment though), those under body air dams are a bit interesting. It's cool to see these cars are getting, or maybe have been, popular in Russia and surrounding countries. One more source to keep mine alive.

These front air dams?
100% they only fit on JDM D-F Outback bumpers.

Pioneer DVD is what I always go with, I love playing DVD music video cds while I drive. The sound quality is better then blue tooth. I am adding a full system. I did my doors, not my 5 channel amp, wiring is done, now to add the JL w3-v3 10 in a ported box. I love a nice sound system.
What format exactly?

These are the Sport fogs, can't even imagine the Max's..
Unfortunately the fogs aren't adjustable on the car, but yep I planned to lower them down a bit.
I think I'm going to keep them though. I don't drive the car at night a lot and I don't have to turn the fogs on when I do, but say I'd need some extra light, they could really come in handy.
I have the Max’s on my Tacoma and they are awesomely bright. I moved my Pro’s from my Tacoma to my Outback when I upgraded and transferred over the corresponding mounting bits. I’ve never been flashed by anyone with either the Pro’s or Max’s on my Tacoma, so the cutoff is really good.
-
Don't know what to make of these SS3 LED fogs. This is the lowest output they make and seems like it'll be obnoxious, but significantly more light at least.
Which version are those, sport, pro or max’s?
Agreed, they look like they are on the high side.

Tough to tell what that part is. Does this reinforce the factory mount like AVO?
It replaces the OEM one with a beefier mount.
-
I sent mine out to media blasting and powder coat, I had them done in silver so they look like aluminum. I did grind away a small corner for the rear brembos on one side. I was able to get the bolts torqued on the other side without having to remove any material.
I got my set for $400 ish, and came with the upper links, did not come with the lower sway bar mounts. I had to buy new ones from Subaru. I replaced all the bushings with Whiteline and replaced the arms with the Whiteline adjustable bits.
I'm into my rear end refresh for a good amount of coin, but everything is new or next to new to include wheel bearings.
That would have been a perfect time to upgrade to the Cusco rear HD sway bar end link brackets (part # 684316A), rather than the OEM ones.

Looks like diode dynamics has the SS3 LED kit that will fit 05-09 outback model years too, just fyi - https://www.diodedynamics.com/ss3-led-fog-light-kit-for-2005-2009-subaru-outback.html
They also fit my Outback with a JDM front end swap.

KW Tarmacs with 8k/6k from Myles at Racecomp perhaps? After 6 yrs my warranty rebuild took 12 days door to door down to the KW facility in CA.
Those are KW V3’s?
I still have the Outback spacers installed. Will I need to get rid of those?

I have a Tacoma TRD Pro so the off-road capability of the OBXT isn’t as critical.

Another option is swapping over to the Bilstein BTS-5088J, that drops the ride height 30mm:
-
You could always send your bilstein shocks for a rebuild/re-valving. I did that when I got mine. Only sent them the rear ones though.
Since then, I replaced the original rear coils with some 500 lbs/inch Eibach from summit racing, since I usually carry heavy loads. Also purchased these sleeves to adjust preload.
How long did the rebuild take? Understood that you had it done pre-COVID and that may impact their turnaround.
-
What tires/size are you planning to run?
I’m undecided right now because I’d also like to find some coilovers to replace my aging Bilstein BTS setup. I’m currently running 235/45r18’s on 18x8” Enkei Raijin’s. I’m thinking a 265/40r18. What size tire would you recommend?
Edit: Maybe 255/45r18

The last time I drove my Outback traction was a serious issue, so I’ve been looking for some wider wheels.
I’ve settled on either TE37’s in an 18x9.5”, and doing all of the fitment mods needed, or BBS RF 520’s (18x9” ET45).

Low beam headlights:
Low beam headlights with fogs:
I realized I should have also done high beams after the fact.

JDM D-F Outback front end with Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro’s in SAE yellow:

Installed Diode Dynamic SS3 Pro’s in SAE yellow:
-
Did an oil change and since it’s been so long I couldn’t remember the exact capacity with the KillerB oil pan and accidentally overfilled it requiring me to drain a little bit. That was super easy to do with a Fumoto valve.
I also installed Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fog lights in SAE yellow.
-
Installed diode dynamic SSC2 led pods at each corner of the hood. Need to post a pic.
Like with ditch light brackets?

I know this is a very old post.. Is anyone here able to advise on how to make these buttons functional? I was not able to figure out what parts I would need to make the middle and right buttons functional.
As far as I could determine, you need to have a button in that spot and not a blank.

Are they a different lamp set up then the lgt? They look the same but jdm cool kid....
Do you notice a big difference in the pro vs the max? I've been eyeballing them and was planning to get the pro before the max came out. Looks like a big difference but also $$$.
The fog lamps are different on the JDM Outback and I remember them mounting differently than the USDM ones. It’s been a couple years since I’ve last been in there. I need to pop off the front bumper to take a look. I also have a Syms lightweight front beam I’ll probably install at the same time.
It’s a huge increase in output on the SS3 Max’s, even over the SS3 Pro’s and definitely over the OEM Rigid LED’s. This is where I did my research: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/page-186#post-24528029

I had to drive the Outback about a month ago but only to get it out of the garage so I could put the truck in there to install an OEM Audio + System. I still need to reregister it.
I took this pic after I installed the Diode Dynamics SS3 Max’s and removed the SS3 Pro’s. The SS3 Pro’s I plan on installing on my Outback. I have no idea if they will work on my JDM bumper.
Custom E Brake
in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)

The part LegacyMarket has is RHD.
I swapped over to the GR STi brake handle (while swapping to EDM D-F center console) and added this: https://www.lathewerks.com/subaru-e-brake-button.html. I’m fairly sure the brake handle will also work on a USDM center console.
