  1. It’s a mid-2015 85D. That means that the “range” is 260 miles when fully charged. I’m not sure at what speed that range is determined but if you go 80-85mph you aren’t going to get 260 miles. I’d guess closer to 200. Between Los Altos (in the Bay Area, near San Jose for those not familiar with the geography) and Portland I need to stop 5 times, Vacaville-Corning-Mt Shasta-Grants Pass-Eugene. With a 100D or P100D I’m sure you can eliminate at least one of those.

Since I road trip with my dog, stopping every 2 hours to get out walk around, go to the bathroom, get some food/coffee or even just relax, in conjunction with the AutoPilot make driving long distances even with Supercharger stops much less strenuous. I drove Phoenix to Santa Monica, hung out with a friend for a couple hours and Santa Monica to Los Altos on the same day (technically it spilled over into the next) which was almost 800 miles, and walked 22k steps and my dog got 220 minutes of activity (he has a Whistle activity tracker).

I haven’t really pushed it that hard in regards to handling but the low COG is very apparent in emergency handling situations on the freeway. I’ve been in several close calls with oblivious people trying to wreck into to me.

No engine sound is really nice especially on road trips.

  2. WRX USA, I think you've mentioned that you are also driving a Tesla now. What are your impressions so far? Do you still like driving your OBXT?

I LOVE the Model S! I’ve driven it over 7,000 miles since September including back and forth to the Bay Area a couple times and out to Phoenix/Sedona through San Diego and back. Honestly, I haven’t driven the OBXT much during that time. The Model S actually has more space in it (it’s a dual motor so the frunk isn’t crazy large but still fits quite a bit). Acceleration on the Tesla off the line, even though it isn’t a performance model, destroys most cars. From 80-120 though the OBXT would leave the Tesla in the dust.

  3. It’s been just over a month since my dad passed away. I inherited his Tesla Model S 85D which I have been driving. I had the Outback transported back up to Portland and it’s been in the garage since the beginning of the month. I purchased the Cobb Flex Fuel kit and I’m fairly sure I’ll need to send it back to Cobb to get the correct 5 wire harness. I plan on keeping the Outback and most likely selling the bugeye.
  4. LGT.com Hivemind. Is $375.00 a fair price for a SpecB rear suspension minus hubs, brakes, Bilsteins and springs? Basically both trailing arms, all four toe arms, both upper arms, and the lateral braces?

Yes, you’ll see SpecB trailing arms sell for more than that on their own. It’s also a great opportunity to install all of the corresponding Whiteline bushings.

  5. The grille I have on now, the S402 one, is the same one I had when I first installed the JDM front end. I think I have three others, I think the gray one you mentioned is a JDM optional vertical mesh, a carbon fiber ZeroSports and I think the other is the JDM OEM black one. I installed the gray one for about a week before switching back.
  6. Gonna pick up a spare set of stock lights from a junkyard and retrofit them with some extra parts I have so I can just do an easy swap out.

How do you guys feel about USDM facelift wagon tail lights versus JDM facelift lights? I hate the red/amber lights and I'm not sure I'm feeling the JDM facelift ones but I keep going back and forth.

It depends on if you are going to get the JDM rear garnish. The JDM facelift lights with the USDM garnish don’t have a continuous line across the back. I went with Valenti LEDs.

  7. Would you be able to retrieve the Amazon link to that connector when you have a moment? I know it is at least a 2 year old purchase you did .

And do you recall which bulb you used for it? Cause I know that the UDSM double filament bulb can't even fit in the JDM housing.
