  1. Should hopefully have some real GTX3067R related updates soon. Didn't mess with the car much at all over the last year while getting my new business up and running, but finally had some more time as of late to start making more progress. Heres a few little teasers.
  2. Another (long overdue) update on the car. http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticles/ID/4082/Project-Legacy-GT-Part-2-Bolstering-the-Drivetrain.aspx A new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, transmission mount, blast plates, and transmission bushings.
  3. Oh, the plan is to ignore those things entirely.
  4. Probably going to order a set of Wedge Engineering brackets for them. Or have someone local make brackets. They were used in an STi before I bought them and are ready to bolt onto new brackets using the OEM sliders.
  5. Trans is back in, engine should go back in on Friday. Maybe running and driving again after SEMA?
  6. http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticles/ID/3996/Project-Legacy-GT--An-Introduction.aspx Project Legacy GT is LIVE! Building the perfect practical street car that will be road trip ready and still kick ass at the track. Keep your eyes peeled as we continue the build in preparation for the best street turbo upgrade.
  7. Yup, all the valves will be adjusted and cleaned up while its apart. He'll also be checking for cracked ringlands. While its apart its getting a new clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/blast plates too.
  8. I've been chasing misfire issues forever, really made me not enjoy driving the car. Finally took it to my mechanic with the assumption of it needing an engine rebuild (146k miles). After determining that it has 0% leakdown and 135psi cold compression across the board we started chasing other possible causes. It wasn't being caused by spark plugs, fuel injectors, coil packs, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, boost leaks, ecu, tune, engine harness grounds, or MAF sensor. We think it might be a combined issue of the headgasket on 2/4 and a valve issue. There was carbon buildup in the coolant overflow, so I definitely need to get the headgaskets done. Hopefully this finally solves my mystery misfire.
  9. Few things since my last update. Front and rear Brembos are on the car along with '04 STi BBS wheels. Added an innovate wideband on the steering column. Replaced all the interior and puddle lights with LEDs. Had Nordic Retrofit do a Morimoto HID retrofit and custom housings on another set of headlights. I dropped my car off with my mechanic about two months ago to finally diagnose the random misfires I've been experiencing for the past couple years (). I kept putting it off because I simply assumed I needed a new engine, after 146k miles of hard use I wouldn't have been surprised. Lo and behold, every cylinder has 0% leakdown hot and cold, with 135psi cold compression across the board. With that pleasantly surprising news we proceeded to hunt down every possible avenue of misfire. We were able to determine that it was NOT caused by: spark plugs, coil packs, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, engine harness grounds, ECU, tune, MAF sensor, or boost leaks (although my Forge BPV was pissing boost all over). Final diagnosis was that the head gasket on cylinders 2 and 4 is likely shot. Its missing primarily on that bank, and there was carbon build up in my coolant overflow. No overheating and it wasn't bubbling the coolant. My mechanic was putting his wife's Outback XT back to a "stock" stage 2 setup from her VF52 build, so I picked up a top feed conversion, set of ID1000s, DW300 fuel pump, and a set of Moore blast plates. The car is now back home with me, running better now that its not bleeding boost everywhere, but still missing a lot at idle and cruise. The plan is to put some money away for a couple months then take the car back to have the headgaskets replaced, get the valves adjusted, install the fuel system, blast plates, new clutch, and new turbo. Right now I'm debating between the BNR HTA68 and Blouch 380XT. Not sure what clutch I'll be going with either. I'd like to be making ~350whp on pump and over 400 on E85. Hopefully by next spring I'll have some dollars squirreled away for a set of 18" SSRs I've had my eye on, and a set of RCE Tarmac2s.
  10. Grill is done. 20140626_190610 by Connor Harrison, on Flickr 20140626_190646_Richtone(HDR) by Connor Harrison, on Flickr Relay that I need to wire up the LC-2 didn't show up today.
  11. Well you gave me the idea to give carbon skinning a try when I asked you about your side mirrors! Once I get more resin I think I'll be doing those.
  12. Grill "winglets" are done. Had my roommate clear coat them yesterday, couldn't be happier with how they turned out. 20140625_203927 by Connor Harrison, on Flickr I was able to sand blast the brembos after work yesterday to get them ready for powder coating. I just need to wait for my new brembo logos to get here and coordinate a time to use my neighbor's powder gun and oven. 10499682_10202355924275454_769941327_o by Connor Harrison, on Flickr I should be getting a relay and fuse in the mail today so I can finish up my install on the LC-2 wideband.

  14. Is that 2" hot side and 2.5" cold side piping? Why the difference?
  15. Thanks on99 I don't suppose my 17" '08 WRX wheels will work for winter duty anymore once I get these Brembos on?
  16. Still need to find time to install my front lip and Innovate LC-2. I picked up a spare shortblock from Franz that I'll be rebuilding, and I got a set of 04 STi Brembos today that are getting stripped and powder coated silver with blue Brembo logos. Progress is slow but steady.
  17. Went on a 90 minute drive to work on the MAF scaling yesterday, when I got back I accidentally clicked on "clear data" and not "update MAF", so that was a waste of time. Then I thought I would put my summer wheels on, but when I got to the last wheel I snapped the shank off one of the lug nuts, only the seat of the nut is left on there. Tried to fit up my WRX lip, but didn't realize it was supposed to be significantly wider than the bumper so I scrapped that idea. Today is about 40 degrees colder than yesterday, so I don't think I'll be doing too much today...
  18. Went out last night for a nice long drive last night to work on the MAF scaling. Going to do that again today in between installing the LC-2, and putting on summer wheels/front lip.
  19. Last week I got an update on my phone that a few packages were delivered, so I wrapped up work and split early so I could go play. My new KS Tech 73mm CAI showed up! Along with new plugs, Innovate LC-2, and a new hotside TMIC gasket. Old intake... (Perrin afta-MAF hose and K&N filter) New intake! At the suggestion of Franz I picked up this SBC coolant housing gasket. Its nice and thick with a rubber seal, and should help contain the boost better than the stock little rubber o-ring. Fits perfectly!
  20. Hey, shut up about it and make your own thread.
  21. Wrapped up the last few things today. Triple checked all the vacuum lines and bled the coolant, made for some nice smoke. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3778/13297905644_20c3462339_b.jpg Updated the tune to ignore the TGV CELs. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3807/13299030003_fc5cb5a9ef_b.jpg Then took it for a spin! Feels (maybe) a little quicker, but is definitely a bit smoother without the leaky TGV gaskets. There is a local dyno day in about 5 weeks, I'll see if the numbers changed much. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7169/13297520235_ee4e46ee39_b.jpg And then back into the storage unit it went. I'm dying to switch back to summer mode, but its going to be below freezing again for the next week or so... http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3792/13297675013_c27b096c1d_b.jpg
  22. I used the supplied hose, but couldn't get it to fit over the PCV fitting, so I used the OEM hose off the PCV fitting then bridged it together with the AVO hose using a section of coolant hose I removed with the TB bypass. Its a bit janky, but it works.
