  1. I have that same shift knob, and to my knowledge a kartboy short shifter. But your knob sits much further down. How much did you have to thread yours down? I went until it felt snug and wouldn't loosen during normal driving. I didn't want to strip it.
  2. Yes, but slightly Yes, with as far as I can tell no driveability issues.
  3. The 05 heads won't have the ports for the air pump. I did the opposite by using the later heads in a 2005. I needed block plates in that recipe, but idk how you'd do it going the other direction. And yeah tuners might be nervous to touch it... Depending on how dead your 2008 engine is, you can throw those (cleaned and reconditioned) 2008 heads on the 2005 shortblock.
  4. Ugh, I know tax season isn't going to be kind to me, otherwise I'd grab the fog lights. Glws!
  5. Not sure if/how the 2008 air pump thing will complicate things. The heads are different, but I think functionally the same. Hard oil lines are different but not crazy to make them work. If you have all parts like harnesses and such, there's no reason you couldn't make it work. Just compare most everything to see what's different.
  6. Thanks, though the goal is to go black and not back lol Yes freaking please! I saw the older thread where user "hops" put 07 spec b stuff in, though I don't think he finished that part. And he did it in 2009. All the pics are gone too
  7. That's the ultimate goal. I've got the front seats, carpet, center console, and a few trim pieces. I'm mostly doing this to clear out the garage. Unfortunately I think the passenger side isn't as plug and play. Going from 05 to 07. Blegh. In other news, I did about 50 miles of interstate speed today. No rotor shake, pretty happy to have dodged that bullet after the stuck caliper. Though the whole thing could do with a more thorough bleed ..
  8. Man that Evora is not that much smaller than a station wagon! White car looks like an na miata with a hardtop and a martini livery.
  9. I'd look to see how much of the door panel is available by removing the rear seat bottom cushion, potentially how much of the hinge hardware is accessible with the front door open, and then if a slim jim could operate the internal mechanism.
  10. Just using the right amount of sealant in the right place. I recall having to do that redo once or twice while keeping the cams spinning freely. It was easy to bind the cams or use too much sealant. And it can easily get in an oil channel for the avcs operation. And then if the cam gear seals aren't pushed in the right amount, that's a problem too.
  11. Can't really comment on the cam cap covers from a safe standpoint - although I hated the condition of mine and reused them. Engine has 50k miles with no oil pressure idiot lights. As for assembly, getting heads on the block was easy (instructions) but getting the cam covers on with the correct sealant application was what tripped me up.
  12. Dove into the passenger caliper. Top 12mm bolt needing convincing and a wrench on the slider hex portion. (Anti Seize had been used). Top piston didn't exhibit any resistance being pushed back in, but the bottom piston had enough resistance to convince me. I had rebuilt this caliper a number of years ago, and the dust boots apparently had worked themselves loose, and apparently enough debris has entered the housing over time. Unfortunately now isn't the budgeted time to upgrade to bling brembos. Main concern is the straightness of that rotor though. Since that's an easy enough fix I'll take it for a test drive before replacing those.
  13. I think I've got a sticking caliper. Drove a few miles today before getting on the interstate. About 2 miles later the steering wheel starts shaking, luckily right at my exit. Swerving from side to side doesn't fix it like a wheel bearing would. Get to my stop, that wheel is emanating a lot of heat. Blegh.
  14. While you're in there you should be prepared to replace a ton of rubber hoses. Chances are they're so stiff they won't hold up to disassembly. Just a heads up
  15. Subbed as I'll probably go this route in 2-3 windfalls from now when I upgrade turbo and fueling.
  16. Somewhere in the suspension forums there's a generic modified but street driven alignment range that's generally preferred. It's nothing crazy, something like -1.5/-1 F/R camber, zero toe all around, and more caster if your parts afford you the option. I can't remember if I found a definitive post, but kinda had to amalgamate all the random info I found. Posts by whitetiger are reliable, but usually more track focused iirc.
  17. As far as I know this is the first replacement. Yeah it's driven a fair amount. Just under 257k at the moment. Super excited to get behind the wheel later this weekend. I'll be able to see so good lol
  18. Windshield getting replaced today. Cold weather snap gave me a nice crack. I've been waiting to get this glass replaced since day one, it's soo pitted.
  19. Yeah that wing is teh hot. A lot of things make me sad I don't have oodles of disposable income, and that is one of them. I really need to start getting the black interior in my car. The new stuff is collecting all sorts of garbage in the garage, and I miss my heated seat. The new stuff is 07, which I believe is slightly different on the driver's side and wildly different on the passenger. There is a thread about the swap, but all pics are dead so I'm left with perusing vacation pics. For anyone who took a vacation in 2007, what album do you use? I only see 2005, 2008 and 2009 on the shelf.
