What is that KB part? Turbo flange?
-
When are you shooting to get this thing back in the car?
Before Christmas.
-
There was no pop... And Im apparently the only member who has done triple digits judging by how astonished people seem at that.
No, and not the first to blow it up doing so.
-
stock block is dead at 165,xxx... I knew I had jinxed it by posting in here a couple weeks earlier. It had been on a CryoTune with uppipe, downpipe, ebcs, and BNR16G for the last couple years.
Had nothing to do with that triple-digit back road run and a loud pop?
-
Nah- Heuberger.
They also convinced me to buy the aftermarket drivetrain warranty that I later found out only covers engine failures from lack of oil- won't cover burnt valves.
I see a very simple solution to your problem, then. .

Get the JmP turbo anyway. Totally worth it.

Nothing wrong with an electric turbo.....
future tech will have lots of cars with an electric one to eliminate lag while the exhaust driven one spools.
Truth. Apparently the next iteration of the WRX will have an electric turbocharger. .

It doesn't look to an ALK, just a pillow ball style bushing replacement. They don't have a Legacy specific piece, but this Impreza GC chassis one is likely the same.
These with pillowball

EDIT: Actually they do have 2 different ones available for the BD/BG chassis Legacy, the one I linked above, and this one with hard rubber instead of pillowball.
These with hard rubber. This looks like what you have.

Technically his chassis is BJ, if it makes a difference, though, I don't think it does for those parts. .
-
I think they'll fit. . They're a good upgrade, as, an anti-lift kit makes a huge difference in straight-line acceleration and turn-in.

performanceradiator.com
$130 and free shipping. They're local to me, and what I'm currently running for a radiator.

Y'all wanna hit up NAPA, they've got a little multicolored pack of small zip ties that come in like, black, pink/red, green, yellow, blue, too-- great way to accessorize, and choose bright colors so that you can easily see if a zip tie has come loose, meaning a vac line has popped, which can aid you in troubleshooting in the future-

Good stuff. Sub'd

Do not throw washers in the turbo inlet. That's not a very good idea.
Hate to say it, but, if moving the injector doesn't move your misfire, well. .
You need a new shortblock. ™

Already in.

They still need volunteers, so, go sign up, dude!
-
wish this wasn't on a friday:(
Well, good thing it's on a Saturday, then.
-
I am registered as a volunteer and will be coming down in my MSM. My younger brother is registered as a student in his stock automatic 2004 Legacy
So, I'll see you there? Bring the halos!

I am getting ready to purchase a BNR 16G and oil supply lines from Infamous for my 05OBXT 5EAT. I have 110K miles on the stock turbo, which has never failed. Can anyone suggest a good Subaru mechanic in South Florida to do the work? I am in West Palm. Will travel. Dealer is my only known option.
You'll probably end up doing it yourself. Dealers won't install non-OEM parts, nor will they install parts you bring them.
-
Sticking with OEM packs?
There aren't any "performance" options. .
-
No, you need to redo the HLAs and it'll be fine.
-
It's only a guide. Heat expands the pistons, not boost. Question is not so much how high are you going to run boost, but how long are you going to hold it there. Most street-driven cars spend very little time in boost. I would say if you're doing normal street duty, with shorter periods at high boost, you can aim at the tighter end of the clearance range. If you're going to do track days, go the looser end.
Does it make a difference if the car is regularly driven uphill at speed? What constitutes "very little" time in/on boost? 30 second sprints? 1minute?
-
What's that? ...tcm? I'm unfamiliar
Check the BBS. It's modding the TCU. Some people say ECM instead of ECU, too.
-
Sub'd.
Bought an 05 mc/bb from eBay this past week, will be installing sometime in the near future-
Will likely be installed with new pads and ss lines, so won't be able to comment on - from stock performance, but will offer feedback nonetheless.
-
Generally agree with your comments, but at least for '05, this is wrong. My '05 will happily bounce off the rev limiter in any gear as long as I like in manual mode (well, I know for sure at least 1st/2nd/3rd - have never had it near redline in 4th/5th). I think you actually have it reversed - I seem to recall hearing that '07+ will upshift for you (and do rev matching on downshift?).
I may have that info backward. Thanks for the correction.

Yeah, I bought like, the last one, apparently. Went looking for them shortly after mine arrived, to send a link to a friend and there were none to be found.
Check valve shouldn't make a difference, AT/MT.
