you have to copy & paste actual link, as it doesn't work with vigilink

  2. Under normal operations, the crankcase is constantly pressurized and the outlet is the PCV valve. Sounds like that might be blocked or it (the smoke) would be exiting the CC via the PCV during your smoke testing

. . . and if the PCV is blocked, then it will exit from the oil fill tube or dipstick tube, since both are the biggest paths of least resistence.

  3. I've got the same leak! Except mine is coming from everywhere on top of the block. Clogged PCV?

mine likes to leak down the back of the heads, and onto the crossmember/UP. Smells delicious. :spin:

I don't think it would cause a vacuum/boost leak though. If my[often flawed] logic is correct, when the motor is actually running, pressure isn't sent from the inlet to the breathers, since it's all made after the turbo. It's just getting into the case now because you're applying positive pressure to the pre-turbo piping. (assuming you're testing from there.)

Yours is probably PCV-related. I would at least change it, since it's cheap to do so, (~$30) and see if the problem persists.

BMB, pressure is supposed to be equalized between the two sides, via the crossover hoses that run along the back of the PCV system that's mounted to the back of the intake manifold. Since it's already torn down, maybe go ahead and run those bad boys through the wash to ensure that there's no blockage?

  4. That much makes sense since I'm not plugging any hoses at the moment, so I'm certainly pressurizing the case a bit. Only bringing it to 4 or 5psi though.

Unsure if this would act as a small vacuum / boost leak under normal conditions...?

It shouldn't, since it's crankcase-connected. Unless you had blowby, but, at that point, it's not really a "boost leak".

  5. cam position sensor?

    Camshaft sensor. #6 here

This is the most likely piece, and, what I was going to guess, but, needed to know top or bottom first, as, on the B-series heads, there's an identical casting mark for an exhaust cam sensor on the bottom, but no electrical for it.

  6. Looking for a bit of help here. There seems to be a sensor of some sort that sits on the passenger head, just in from the valve cover gasket and towards the rear of the car. The plug that connects to the sensor connects from the passenger side of the car.

What the heck sensor is this?

Top or bottom of engine? Have you deleted your TGVs?

  7. So pass this along to the other guy who responded to me as well. Both of you are exactly as i initially described. And yes that means people like you are the real definition of whats wrong with forums today . I hate to burst your swollen bubble heads with this rude awakening. I want to mention one last thing to you both as im not going to entertain you anylonger. You need to grow up a bit, and show some courtesy to other people. If this forum is one of the most important things in your pathetic lives ? Well that explains alot. It tells me your car has been your biggest ticket purchase to date . That is sad. You both are sad . Do everyone a favor and drop dead, You pair of stuck up cocksuckers.

Got this in a PM. Then reported it, just so the mods could laugh, too.

Seriously, WHY do they sell these cars to anyone who wants them?

  8. Outback Automotive of Auburn, WA recently changed their name to Infront Automotive, after reportedly receiving a C&D from SOA. Even prior to this change, many were experiencing subpar service and labor; those of us local to that shop and have had such an experience, no longer recommend people use them.

My personal experience was limited to a phonecall with John when I was shopping around for parts and such. I had heard that they did headwork, and called for a quote.

I was quoted $800 for basic headwork. No 5-angle valve job, PnP, just what was needed to bolt them back on. Using the list in my ERSL, it should cost about half that-- $400. I later learned that they (Outback/Infront) didn't actually have a machine shop/facilities on-site and would be farming out the work, most likely to Heads Up!, a reknown automotive machine shop in the area, then marking up the price. I haven't called back since, and don't plan to. After hearing other's poor experiences there, and seeing some of their build quality in person, I'm not impressed enough to recommend that folks take their cars there, and if asked, I'm honest about it -

I would wager that, at some point in the near future, enough of their mistakes will have stacked and be made known, that they will be forced to close.

  9. Tris ain't as bad as e everyone wants to believe either. He's quite pleasant actually

Why does everyone say that? You make it sound like I'm some chickenhawk lame-o.

For real, though, we gotta get together and cook sometime - Let's make some bitches fat and happy!

I fear that the jury is still out on that! For his sake, I hope the jury comes back with a favorable verdict. He's facing the hanging judge. LOL!

Bitch, ain't nothing to judge! I hang to the left. ;)

  10. Well I have the heads back. Not happy.

The second set of time serts still didn't seat all the way. So spot face to get them flush with the aluminum... First head after this looked good.

Second one he borked the thing and cut too much material on two sides of the plug seating surface and counter bored it a little. :(

Have to sleep on it some to decide to plow forward and hope the plug seals or bite it and get two new castings. Then find another machine shop. :(

Also found out I need to pay a load to the state and feds. This life thing is not getting any easier.

It can be rough at times, friend. :( I hope it gets better for you soon!
