Last day of "full day" for school. Next three days are half days and just testing....So stoked. Funny, I hated H.S. but here I am as a teacher, in H.S., for now 16 years... got 13 more to go! Retire by 52.

FYI - if you are looking for an "experience" - http://www.cloud9living.com/ Got my brother this one: http://www.cloud9living.com/houston/race-a-lamborghini-lp-5604 for christmas and we are finally going to do it this Sunday! I'm sooo stoked.

Thinking of a tough set for my swimmers..... Main set needs to be about 3k meters....hmmmmm.

I read this as "Bentely GT" and was like WTF!
god I wish... lol. Nah, got a Bradley 4 years ago and have slowly worked on it. But once I got the LGT, it went on hold. My wife constantly bugs me about the "red car that wastes space" in our garage. Its a simple Kit car that sits on top of a VW beetle (old) frame. 1600cc engine in the back baby!

Starting to think about my summer project...renewing my work on my Bradley GT...really need to get that thing running....

I drive to Cobb in Plano for my tunes.

Hey Islandborn, could you tell us the name of the dealer and apprx charge for install for us Houston 5th gens?
Gillman Subaru - Northside.... Might hit up their Southwest Dealership and just chat with them. I'm to understand that the Southwest guys are pretty cool too.
-
Island, did you get to drive your car after the damper delete (before the spring and rubber valve was removed)? I'm curious what each mod does to the feel and function of the hydraulic clutch.
Unfortunately no. He did bring up that a bunch of the STIs switch to a basic imprenzas slave because it didn't come with all that stuff...

Now I'm in Texas - land of the truck: After "demonstrating" the get-up and go of my LGT, a big ol country boy in his jacked up truck exclaimed (in the thickest southern accent) "Wut the hell you got in dat dar car!"
-
Is this the spring you're talking about? Please tell us more ...
Its on top of the slave cylinder - all contents behind the big bolt need to be removed - plastic piece, spring, and a valve of some sort with lots of little holes with a rubber stopper. I forgot them at the dealership so I'll go today to pick them up and take a pic for all

I have very little time until summer but wanted this done. So I ordered the part and chatted it up at my Subaru dealership service guys. (they are all part of the Houston Subaru Group - run modded STIs and WRXs
) Of course it was a interesting thing as the STI and WRX set up is very different from ours - of course.
After looking at the AMAZING pics in the front of the tread, they did the delete quite fast @ 40 minutes. ALSO, they removed a spring set up that controlled the oil from the slave cylinder - common mod they do.
Results: Totally love it. This is old school clutch working. I can FEEL the slight vibrations thru the clutch pedal as I press on it. I'm running a Competition Clutch Stage 2 and would get frustrated getting into 1st gear. All the sponginess and guessing would leave me riding the clutch just to get going. Drive-Thrus KILLED me (I get a green tea from Starbucks every AM) as I would feel like a tool over-revving. IMHO this mod makes the shifting drastically better - even better I would say than the stock set up.
reeg240 - Well done with those picts. Even the guys at the dealership was quite impressed with how you got those so clean.
GTEASER - fantastic job on the explaining of "why do it" and the hunting you do so well for part look ups....(I swear you are independently wealthy and never work so you have time for all this stuff
)

Once you go black.....
-
GTEASER - call in sick so you can update that first list.
-
Garthos! Is that really your plate? Sweet.
-
GTEASER and reeg420 - thank you. Well explained. I too noticed this but thought that was just part of the whole system. I now have an upgraded clutch and this makes sense.
-
Still lost on why do it....
-
Thats what I did. 100mm CP coated pistons in my gut now.
-
I love the ride of my eibach springs. Soft enough to keep wife happy, tight enough to keep me happy.
-
-
I actually have those ramps... yup like Gteaser, cant use them. Too low. My wife bought me low profile ramps

Im looking into options on my rebuild. Ill post once we discover what to do
Ha, me too. I take the drive this weekend to Cobb to talk about options...
Quart of oil burned every 600 miles or so warrants it.

[quote name=
Our pistons are drop in but our heads give us a bit more compression vs the wrx/sti heads.[/quote]
I knew it!!!!!!!!!! The LGT guys got better heads than the STis!
-
Cool! That really stands up high tho. The GTSpec unit sits a lot lower.
Actually might be good - you can attach bungies or whatnot to it...
maybe when I throw my wife in the trunk now when she's giving me lip, then she can hang on to something while I racecar.

Conversation at a stoplight on the way to practice yesterday (I coach):
Dude: "Hey!"
Me: (not hearing him cause Pearl Jam is too loud in my car)
Dude: "HEY!"
Me: "oh, hey, sorry! (turn down Jeremy)
Dude: "Oh man, I fu**king love your car!"
Me: (slightly confused at conversation starter) "Oh, thanks." (I put on smile)
Dude: "Seriously, I fu**king LOOOOVE your car."
Me: (now observant on his envy) "Awe, I appreciate that, thanks alot!"
-green light, I leave.
I feel quite proud, then start thinking about....
