  1. Love the mid-size truck. My ‘12 Frontier is in the Goldilocks zone for almost everything I need it to do. I don’t tow but I do use it to skid felled trees. It’s parkable in the city and enough truck to get up some full-on sketchy “roads” out in WV. I don’t think I’d get a new one, though. May never get a new anything again, for that matter.
  2. The 13/14 KYBs on Eibachs work for me (no rubbing on 8.5 x18 +45 Enkei rims with 245/40s) but I do recommend upgrading at least the rear sway bar as well. Even if it’s never going to the track (mine either), the handling and balance change is appreciable.
  3. I’m still under 50k miles on my ‘10 LGT so it’s not going anywhere soon. I still have some cladding to install underneath and a new TMIC but after that it’s just maintenance and occasional driving. My modding will be focused on utility mods on my ‘12 Frontier in the near term. I say this knowing full well I will be subconsciously clocking new and used car prices. Maybe not Carreras or AMGs, but def curating a set of options in the used AWD MT 4-dr market.
  4. I’m stealing those stats when (if) I list mine. Same year and color (but my miles are a bit more modest). Sarang, give it a bit of time. There is an audience out there, either a WRXer or someone like me who needed a family car with guts and a stick. You’ll also be hoping for a buyer who, unlike me, knows how to wrench to take care of as much maintenance as possible, and who might even look at the mods as a great head start. In any case, unless cash flow is an acute issue, see what pops this weekend or next when people have time to look for their next ride.
  5. Parking it in the grass makes it look super low. How’d you lose the chunk out of your front lip?
  6. Congratulations! Next step, open a Virginia 529 plan and get on a waiting list for daycare. NoVA is brutal with daycare and preschool, at least around Arlington, and by the time she’s ready for college it’ll be even more ridiculously expensive. Puts Subaru mods in perspective, though. If my kid ends up going into the service or to prison, I can afford the Brembos. If he actually goes to college then I’ll be limited to mediocre wiper blades. Maybe.
  7. Had Crutchfield install my Kenwood DMX7706S receiver and an idatalink maestro unit, plus a backup cam. The gauge display is money. Much cleaner than actually installing extra gauges, and a fair amount of inputs and parameters to select. Should have done something like this a while ago. Now I have to set the EQ levels and figure out all of the other features.
  8. I went to the dealership (not where I bought it) today to have my recalled recall fixed. Upon checkout I noticed the dealer attached a few pages to their version of the svc paperwork that had the LGT’s entire history, including production dates, the “port” (listed as 020 Lafayette), a list of “port accessories,” the dealer it was shipped to, extensions of Subaru warranties (Takata airbag, headlight bulb, “fail code ULF warranty extension”), recalls and other service/warranty claims. TLDR: SOA knows quite well what they’ve installed and done to the car.
  9. The Ryobi inverter generator I want to buy from Home Depot has been out of stock in stores anywhere near me and online for weeks. When I started looking at them last year there were usually 4-6 in each store. Now there are none anywhere.
  10. Coming up on 9 yrs this week. The LGT was dropped off from a flatbed at 11 pm on July 10 while I was across the country for work. Wife had no idea where the e-brake was located and called me to rant about the car. It’s been nothing but smiles since then.
  11. I used a Maguires refinishing (sanding and two applications of goo that was supposed to cure) kit on my fog lights and after allowing for curing time I tried the Lamin-x overlays. They slid around and wouldn’t adhere. Had to remove and clean off the uncured finish. Eventually worked but PITA and not the outcome I was looking for. When these LED fog bulbs go, if ever, I’ll get the Ford LED fog assemblies and do a Lamin-x overlay off the bat.
  12. You must get up quite early to find an empty freeway around Chicago.
  13. This. Instead of looking at a Stinger or a Golf R I kept and modded the LGT and bought a used truck. So now can use the truck to lug kayaks, building materials (and a rather awkward miter saw), or whatever around, and get to the river at spots the LGT or any sporty car dare not tread, while still getting my adrenaline flowing in the Subaru. With no car payments. Rationalization refresh completed.
  14. +1 for the Stinger AWD. If I had to buy new right now, that’s where I’d start. Solid value proposition for a customer like me: combining strong performance and a little bit of utility.
  15. A tuner who was sued by the EPA? They would have had to be putting out a serious volume of discretionary hydrocarbons to get the EPA’s attention. Like, Mad Max levels of egregiousness. I’m interested...

  17. Almost as in a few mils short of exact width. No mod (it’s a 3M tape application) just an eyeball to even out the spacing on either side. Pro tip: tape mark exact center of lip and center of trunk, and match them up as a starting point when peeling tape backing. Will take shots of fit/finish tomorrow.
  18. Sub. Interested in Lamin x whole headlight result.
  19. I have a thin flexible poly unpainted trunk lip from an outfit called spoilerking.net. They feature searching by make/model/year, and mine was almost perfect width of trunk. I wanted black so it works for me, but if you wanted to paint it you’d just need to add flexi agent to the paint and maybe prime with an adherence promoter.
