  1. Damn I just realized neither come with top hats, and if your like me and don't want to use ur old top hats on your new coilovers, then you gotta add another 400-500 for a set of top hats. Makes that 260 price difference more appealing.
  2. 259 dollars cheaper, and they seem to have similar specs. I think KW are a German company so I tend to be swayed by that German engineering. Interesting I just learned that the RCE's are made by KW, according to this post from RCE from 2010
  3. I'm looking to upgrade my struts as well. I am going with the KW's after I get my car tuned and I am done with HP mods. I have tried Konis, and cheap coilovers.... i'm just gonna bite the bullet and get KWs, cause one thing I have never seen anyone do on this forum is complain about KW's.
  4. I would get the kit, it seems to be excellent quality. I was going to get it when the tuner was like tuning for high horsepower on 93 octane gets more dangerous to the block. So I said let me try e85 route 1st to see where that gets me. I can get a lot of horsepower for like a thousand bucks, e85 flex fuel kit was 550, so that is the bare minimum you would need, for significant gains. Price per hp, the e85 kit is big power adder versus the cost. To get any gains from a fmic kit ur gonna need a big ass turbo that can make use of it. My 20g would hardly see any gains from a fmic kit. So at that point im spending like 5k. Also if u get the fmic kit, u will probably need their air intake, like another 400 dollars. Cause the piping comes up where the oem air box sits, so u need an inlet that will play nice with the piping. My grimmspeed air intake would cause issues cause it has that cold air box, and if u remove the box then nothing would be supporting the intake pipe and filter and it would just flop around, no bueno.
  5. I was more thinking that I may go FMIC, and the kit I was looking at costs 1k for the intercooler alone and another 800 for the piping kit. $960 for the 4" intercooler https://www.extremeturbosystems.com/collections/legacy-gt-intercoolers/products/ets-05-09-subaru-legacy-gt-intercooler-only?variant=19933310844998 And another 800 for piping https://www.extremeturbosystems.com/collections/legacy-gt-intercoolers/products/ets-05-09-subaru-legacy-gt-intercooler-piping-kit Who goes backwards when they upgrade, if I go fmic, I would probably not go back to a tmic setup. 1800+ for a fmic kit seems pricey, selling the tmic would make getting the fmic more appealing, if that makes sense. Either way, I think the E85 will be enough to get me to my goals for now, hopefully. Its hard to put a number value on the hp goal cause I'm more accustomed to rwd setups. Awd hp feels different imo, and all I know is atm I want more hp. I am currently just shy off 360 peak hp/trq, I feel I need at least another 75-maybe 100. If the e85 doesn't do it, then yea I gotta start planning again.
  6. Part of me wishes I would have gone the hose route because now the resale value of my IC goes down and more places to potentially leak air from and cause more problems. Hose is simple especially if you have the oem style which they have a bunch of aftermarket options and is cheap. But this Grimmspeed hose is a pita cause its so awkwardly shaped and only one seller(they actually gave me a hard time about it, wanting to see reciepts, reason etc. like they were afraid of me stealing their technology or whatever reason so they aren't so easy to give it up!), but it does have some nice flat spots so it might be better. When I get the extra one I will see for sure.
  7. I installed it in the IC, see picture. But prior to that I also ordered everything I would need to install the iat in the hose between the IC and TB, as a 2nd option if I couldn't find someone to weld the bung to the IC. I was just sharing that information in case anyone was thinking of going SD with TMIC and not wanting to drill into the IC.
  8. For anyone who is considering SD and doesn't want to drill holes in their 1000 dollar IC. You could go the route of installing the iat in a cheap hose. I would use some lock tite or something to make sure the nut doesn't back off into your intake and fubar your engine. Grimmspeed will sell you the tube for 75 bucks plus tax/shipping but its a special order and doesn't show as a part on the site. I ordered an extra one, to try and see what it would like, still waiting for it though. Got the other parts though. Hose Adapter from Mishimoto https://www.mishimoto.com/aluminum-1-8-npt-add-on-bung-hoses-couplers.html AEM 1/8 sensor part number # 30-2014 https://www.aemelectronics.com/products/sensors/temperature_sensors/parts/30-2014 Also if you order the kit from iWire, select the front mount, luckily I did cause its a foot longer. You can get the kit for either IAT sensor, just let them know. Notes below. Fitment Notes: Length Differences Front Mount Length = 48 inches Top Mount Length = 36 inches IAT Sensor Our Hybrid MAF Wiring Kit works with any 3/8" NPT IAT sensor. When adding on the IAT sensor from us we utilize the AEM Sensor with weld on bung AEM part number 30-2010. Contact us about a wiring kit for the 1/8" NPT Thread Air Temperature Sensor found on AEM part number 30-2014. https://iwireusa.com/products/hybrid-maf-wiring-kit?variant=41226124263577
  9. The hybrid sorta works the same way, it just branches from the maf sensor connector to a iat sensor, so the tuner can use either or. Its the same thing, just doesn't delete the MAF and allows 2 options to tune instead of 1.
  10. I also have to install the IAG AOS kit and I also got the IAG Street to Competition kit to go with it. I am having oil pressure issues at high rpm tuner said. They said it could be due to the crankcase not venting enough due to the crap pcv design, which is pushing the oil to the sides of the oil pan. I have lower vacuum, not sure if or how that plays into it. Either way I'm just going to install these 2 kits to try and relieve the problem. Could just be that to much is blowing by the rings because I went on the looser side when gapping the rings but I already rolled the dice at this point so hopefully this alleviates the issue. The kits will replace the PCV and let it vent better. Forgot about these to two kits so its more like $1.6-1.8k in parts.
  11. I have the hybrid kit. So it may be an issue doesn't seem very long but its just 2 wires, I can figure something out. Got some goodies to install for round 2 of tuning. iBuildRacecars E85 kit iWire Speed Density Kit(bung and sensor already installed on IC) DW FPR with a Fuel Pulsation Damper Killer B Extreme Flow Hard Turbo Inlet Lets see what roughly $1-1.2k in parts and some E85 can do.
  12. Oh boy, we gonna find out lol! I thought about it as well, but if anything I can pull the MAF cable back to the firewall and run it along that.
  13. Got it home and realized I probably shoulda double checked that it wouldn't hit the brake fluid reservoir so I just mocked it up and everything looks good.
  14. Where did you weld in the bung ? I found a place that would do it for 75 bucks.
  15. I have the Grimmspeed TMIC, not sure if there is enough meat to tap in threads. I've been looking for a shop to weld in the bung, but no one does that kind of thing near me (aluminum welding). So I'm trying to figure out how to get a SD setup with TMIC. I am thinking of maybe putting it in the charge tube using something like this. https://www.mishimoto.com/aluminum-1-8-npt-add-on-bung-hoses-couplers.html And using a 1/8 npt sensor instead of the 3/8 that i have. https://www.aemelectronics.com/products/sensors/temperature_sensors/parts/30-2014
  16. But I got my turbo a long time ago, before JMP went ape shit with his turbos.
  17. So I am going with a custom kit from iBr, https://www.ibuildracecars.com/store/flexfuel . If you email them, they can provide a 3 pin wiring kit. It uses one of the TGV's to send the signal. Ordered the Killer B turbo inlet as well. Going to see what e85 can get me before I go crazy with turbos and fmics. Is there anyway to connect a speed density setup without a fmic. Cause usually it goes in that piping. But not sure the fmic would let you setup sd. The money I save from not buying a 2k turbo and 1800 dollar fmic kit would let me get those KW coilovers that i have been foaming at the mouth for.
  18. I remember it costing around 700-800 bucks. If someone is making it cheaper for the same results I'm all for it.
  19. I think whats going on is something in the flex fuel contraption is sending signals which the cobb or protuner software can then use to adjust whatever fuel make it happener accordingly. Its actually pretty basic but they made it plug and play and works easily with tuning software.
  20. The flex fuel kit allows you to put in whatever you want and you dont have to think about it, one day you can have 70% 93 30% E85, then go to 40% 93 60% E85 and the map will adjust accordingly based on the sensor telling whatever unit the ratio. So you can go full 93 or full E85 or whatever mix, that is the best reason to use it because its completely adaptable based on whatever you have in the tank. Cobb had a plug and play kit which made things super simple. https://www.cobbtuning.com/flex-fuel-for-subaru-forester-xt-and-legacy-gt/ But they no longer make it. The kit I want would have to be comparable to this kit. And to be perfectly frank E85 is just instant horsepower! So its probably one of the best bang for your buck mods you can get considering your current mods.
  21. Are there any flex fuel kits other than the cobb? Looks like they no longer make it anymore, might have to find new old stock or a different company. Anyone know of any other companies making a good flex fuel kit comparable to the old cobb kit?
  22. It was a sticky on the old site, seems like its not anymore. Looking to maybe get some new wheels.
