  1. a friend of mine has a kartboy. He seems to like it. He had some issue with it being almost TOO short tho, I want to say it was within millimeters of being a problem. Never seen a cobb as I have a 5EAT and wouldn't want it any other way. I cant figure out why people pay extra for a spec B but welcome all the same.
  2. See, I don't like that though, if its a bolt on solution I want it to be a BOLT ON SOLUTION Ie I bolt it on and walk away, I dont want to have to go to tractor supply and find something to fab up, the fabbing was their part of the job. I dont mind at all using a spacer if they would provide it in the kit, at least then I'm not hunting for a way to "make it work." having an endlink snap when you're doing something thats probably already a bad idea is not going to help you at all lol.
  3. read every word on this thread, I still cant figure out if these bars actually work or not? They're priced right and I realized not too long ago I need to upgrade my suspension before I even THINK about more power. The review is good but the problems concern me. I wont be taking the risk of making something designed for my car fit with spacers and washers and things. If its designed for my car it should fit and have no issues. If its working I'm going to consider buying this thing but if its all crazy and needs all kinds of back yard engineering to keep it from breaking endlinks or wearing things out in 2 weeks.. no thanks.. so whats the word guys?
  4. wont the varsity be a madhouse? It seems like it is all the time.. I assume a game is goin on, sorry but I'm not really a sports fan thats not gas powered so I know nothing about it lol. well SoG is the state's only SPT dealer. Most of the guys that work there themselves have modded cars, even the salesmen. I talked to a guy there (chuck? charles? a C name) that had a modded wrx. I was trying to convince a friend to get one.. lost him to the MS3.. oh well, good choice as well.
  5. I never go inside the perimeter, but if you go to the hiram powder springs smyrna area you'll probablly see me. I'd be interested to know more about your stage 2, do you get warranty service done around here? if so who does it and do they give you flack? I need to head to SoG to get my oil changed (I have all my work done by my favorite dealer while my cars are under warranty) I spotted a very clean dark blue 04- legacy on east-west a few days ago, was wondering if that was anyone here.
  6. welcome. Glad to see soeone with another legacy in the area joining the group. I often see the last gen legacies on the road, and even tho I might wave or even just stare at em to see if they notice, they seem to be in a daze.. there used to be a guy in aug. that had an awesome white legacy that was at most an 04, tinted windows, nice rims, looked great, and he was always staring and riding beside me n whatnot heh, I think its cool, despite what subaru may be trying to do with the wrx we still have sort of a sense of exclusivity in the legacy and its cool that people recognize that.
  7. not a bad idea really. although being that close to frys might drag me into its gravitational field and make me spend money I dont have. I'm only free sat and sun, but I really dont have anything to look at, just an LGT like you see on the lot with a few minor things..
  8. they have SOME.. if I had to guess I'd say you might see the most trade in value from a subaru dealer cos they know what it is. So many other people would be like "whats that a scion?" and want to give you $8k for it cos the scions are like 16k new.. unfortunatley if you'er a trade in kinda guy like I am, you're kinda stuck with this car. Mines almost worthelss now.. after only 2 years its valued under 20k.. and thats annoying to me.. tahnk god I got a decent deal or I'd be upside down even with a 6k downpayment last time around. right now I just want to be w/o a car payment, the extra money would be nice, but I dont want to be driving some old clunker in a few years, so I dont know how thats going to turn out.
  9. marta? I'm sorry I hear its the worst public transit out there.. but hey its cheaper than gas probablly.. dunno bout safer tho, never been on it, dont plan to be on it.
  10. no? hrmm.. ok then.. any of yall know a good detailing shop out in the atl area? clay bar wash wax interior detail carpet scrubbing leather detail etc. ? dont really wanna go inside the perimeter.
  11. the bad thing asbout being out here is tho for subaru SERVICE I have to drive an hour... btw, last friday, dark blue and tinted in slow lane 20 eastbound.. bout.. 6flags fulton industrial area.. bout 2:45-3pm any of yall?
  12. I sold my project truck on a guys word.. he eventually gave me a downpayment, but I took it off the for sale thing and stopped responding to potential buyers when he gave me his word he was gonna buy it. I agree people dont deal on peoples word much anymore, I always used to deal with downpayments when I was parting trucks, but even then.. $1 would have been sufficient.. I didnt require some huge amount. and I like living in the stix.. maybe not with bubbas tho.. I live soundwest of where 92/278 meet by about 5 minutes people who live IN atl come out here and are like "DAMN you in da boonies!" they're crazy they dont know what the boonies is.. my parents had a singlewide trailer at the lake for a vacation spot that wasso far out that we couldn't get cable or phone service for it. it was down a dirt road. but man do I miss that place..
  13. GA 400 is the georgia autobahn.. or at least thats what people tell me. average traffic flow I'd say around where I am is between 65-85. Once you start getting closer to alabama tho the limit goes up to 70 and people wil almost run you off the road unless you do at least 90... its insane! I'm glad I didn't move out that way. and everyones not in a hurry in GA.. beleive me lol, infact a good number of people from this state have all day and nowhere to go EVER.. just.. not in the atlanta area. Think southeast GA, statesboro, waynesboro, millen..
  14. yea.. if I see more than 25mpg on a constant flat highway trip I'm happy. my car averages 17mpg on my commute and its 70% highway..
  15. (peter griffin) perhaps.... (/peter griffin) TBH, I've never actually been in the perimeter and driven myself heh, I dont know anything about the streets downtown.
  16. on that note, it MAY be possible to make some sort of simple script, if you know how the winamp playlists work, or use some sort of automated media library scanner thing for whatever media player you use. You can enable the ipod as a harddrive, inside that there is a hidden directory that has numbered directories inside THAT.. and inside those are your actual mp3 files ith the original names. The ipod works basically by (as my understanding) using an xml file to reference these. As to what the numbers mean I dont know.. but.. it may be easier to do that than you think. If you have some batch scripting or light programming knowledge you might be able to do that. I dont know how in windows, but in linux you can probablly look in /proc for a newly connected device (usb something? I dont REALLY Know that well in linux either) and when its detected taht the ipod has been connected, runt he script that syncs your winamp library, and run the music off the ipod and never have to copy the music to your carputers harddrive. damnit! dont drag me back into this hobby!! its too expensive and addictive!
  17. Douglasville here.. cars too dirty to be going to any meets right now infact I'm poking around the southeast forum to find a good atlanta area detailer that actually DETAILS.. because PRESSURE WASHING is not DETAILING!!one!!one1!11!
  18. nice work bmac! I havent been reading can ya summarize what you're doing there? from the post it sounds like you're selling those custom jobs (which look awesome) what kinda price are you looking at, and what screen are you using for them? weird that your complex manager has no problem fumes in an enclosed area that might can cause people to DIE.. but paint fumes outside are soooo bad.. I hate apartments.. I'm glad I'm moving out of mine.. just last night someone across the hall threw a party that lasted until 4am. they throw beer bottles down the stairs and have had the cops called on them twice in a month.
  19. a little late on the draw here but: http://www.darkfox1.com/gpsantenna.jpg microsoft usb gps antenna, updates fairly quickly no problems through the window defroster, it was a pita to get in there tho
  20. underneath the motherboard? as in you have to remove the motherboard to access the HD? HDs have a much higher failure rate than mobos, seems like that could become a major pita if you have a vibration problem or get a bad drive. Course.. any time you have a bad drive its a pita. design looks good btw, external psu can easily shave 4x6" of size off the case so thats a grand idea also
  21. ITX mobos are your friend, energy efficient, small, light weight, lo profile, low heat, its the perfect mobile PC mobo. http://www.mp3car.com is also your friend, tons of resources, every possible question or idea you've ever had ever about a car and a computer are probablly there already with a long discussion of plausibility execution and maybe even someone whos done it also (from memory) http://www.mini-itx.com should be the url.. sells a lot of itx cases and other accessories. I agree with the whole ipod linux thing, its designed to play mp3s and movies, not so much GPS heh I MAY be selling my carputer in the near future, its a via epia 1300 w/ 100gb seagate HD, 2 upgraded fans (11cfm each over the single 7cfm fan it came with) and its already mounted to a board that sits on top of the spare tire. I'll have more on that later.
  22. great work on the screen mount. Its important that someone carry the torch on a buy-n-bolt-in kit for this stuff to really bolster the project. If you make one, I would suggest contacting the guys at mp3car.com to see if you can work out a deal to sell through their site as well. I'd also be interested ot know how close you got that paint to match your factory bezel finish. thats why I was trying to build an unmodified navi bezel screen bracket kit so that it would match factory.. because it was factory. But it was very very diffuclt.
  23. oh theres yet another fun thing! lol supposedly theres something in the driver side but I was unable to find it.I wound up running the wires through a large grommet up above the turbo on the passenger side by the top of the wierwall. It comes into the cabin BEHIND the a/c ducts.. I was able to push the wire in far enough taped to a pre-bent coat hanger to force the wire to curve down to the point that I could grab it in the passenger floorboard and re-route it to where it needed to go. I ran it down under the console instead of in the door jamb.
  24. oddly enough theres not a lot of CONSTANT power in the car, its very strange as I've rarely seen this. the only thing I know of that works when the car is off would be the horn, parklight switch and uh.... I think thats it. theres gotta be a hot in the column, but ya gotta ask if its worth it to pull off that, you may also be able to pull from a spare power outlet in the fuse panel but I dont know if one exists heh, sorry I'm not terriblly helpful on that one.
  25. my power ran straight off the battery, and grounded to the chassis (ground loop may be an issue with this method, cant say for sure) and to feed accessory I tapped the cig lighter + in the dash for the one tha twas in the ashtray.. it only works when the car is on accessory so its the perfect place considering you're in that place like mad setting this all up anyway. I had ground loop, and I played with all kinds of solutions, direct to battery, into power system, into chassis, I eventually had to use a ground loop isolator which fixed all the problems, but at a small cost of sound quality.. as to whether or not it was a noticable difference.. thats up to the listener I suppose as I didn't hear one.
