  1. What you guys are saying sounds like it would make sense, however having layered my doors with 1 layer of: -Noico 80 mil deadener -Noico 150 mil closed cell foam and -1lb mass loaded vinyl I can say it made no perceptible difference in the sound of the door closing.
  2. I'm keeping the steering linkage for use in my car. The PS pump looks to be the same and has all the same lines and dimensions so I can't imagine it would be any different between the 2 cars but can definitely send you more pics and part number if you like. I'm 90% sure it's a match though considering the PS reservoir and steering rack are swappable between the 2 cars.
  3. Currently parting out a 2011 STI and I have a set of rear Brembo calipers that are apparently direct bolt ons for your 5th gen legacy (won't work on my 4th gen). Passenger side is off the car and driver side is coming off tonight. More pics to come. $700usd shipped USA/Canada with PayPal
  4. As some of you may know I'm parting out a 2011 STI sedan. Here are some parts I'm not keeping that should fit Legacies but do your own research to confirm. Everything listed has 100k miles (160k kms) and is in good working condition unless otherwise noted. All prices are OBO and do not include shipping: These parts should be direct swap: Fuel pump assembly/housing complete with STI pump (175lph vs LGT 150lph) $150 STI pitch stop $40 Alternator - $40 sold Power steering pump - $40 sold Steering rack - $100 (may be a lot to ship) STI red stitched steering wheel. Direct swap for 07-09 legacy and can be retrofitted to 05-06 (has a couple of wear areas on the leather so selling cheap) - $40 LGT (blue Subaru emblem) horn pad with airbag (can be used to update 05-07 car to 08-09 style steering wheel) $60 sold locally These parts can be used with modification: All 4 STI 5x114.3 knuckles with hubs (if you want to do a very ambitious 6 speed swap) $200 Rear STI Brembo calipers for previously mentioned crazy swap $700 shipped (also direct bolt on for 5th gen models) Sold off-site STI stock front/rear struts and springs that would work with that swap $200 Driveshaft also available $200 I'm also considering selling this bulkhead harness, STI gauge cluster, ECU, ignition ring, key as a combo + whatever else you can think of that is needed to overcome the immobilizer and challenges using a CANBUS 2011 STI ECU (in case you want to try and run a dual AVCS using this ECU - I do not). This would be expensive, (maybe $400+shipping?) and you would have to be a sadist. If interested let me know exactly what components you want/need and I will remove and sell them as a combo for you. More pics to come
  5. Should definitely fit all hoods. Also, just shoot it! You won't regret it. I did mine myself with a can and 2k clear and it turned out perfect.
  6. Just a heads up - as OP states this is single zone climate control so if you're dual zone this won't work for you.
  7. So reading through the important posts I'm 95% sure this is correct, but can someone just confirm for me that the 2008+ STI transmission (I'm using a 2011) works with the stock front axles from the LGT (mine is 2005)? Just want to firm up my plans. Here are the main things I'm using if anyone is interested. 2011 STI 6 speed and all of its accessories 2011 STI R180 diff (plan to flip the flange from my lgt diff) Stock LGT front axles *Auto driveshaft *Spec B rear axles (or axle end kit I read about to convert the LGT axles to work) Starred stuff I need to order. Everything else is coming off my parts 2011 STI.
  8. You can use your USDM hood for any swap you do. If yours is damaged it's better to find a local Legacy GT of any year and buy that hood for $100ish than pay for the shipping I would think.
  9. So there are different understandings on the subject of compression tests but what I've been told is that the closeness of the numbers is more important than the value itself. I'm no mechanic but it seems to me that one side is reading fine and the other is reading lower. That side is similar between those 2 cylinders. That kind of speaks to the head gasket idea. Again, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. A head gasket job might not be trivial but it's still a lot cheaper than replacing a motor. The real question is whether the OP wants to get rid of the car as is or start the process of removing the motor because once the motor is out its not hard to see what's actually wrong. OP if you're going to commit to getting a new engine you shouldn't buy one until you've pulled this one and had the mechanic actually look at it rather than just guessing the internals are dead. That's IF.
  10. Back it up a bit - I don't get why you need to replace the transmission if you're having a coopant mixing with oil issue..? This sounds like it's just a head gasket. I think you need to pull this engine and find out what's actually causing the problem here because it may not be a "just buy an entire powertrain" issue.
  11. Yeah that's a pretty terrible job. Was this from one of the importers in Mississauga ON? The one I used did a good job packing mine. Shipping across the border they must try to skimp as much as possible.
  12. I was about to toss all the OEM parts from my front end conversion. Sorry to jump in here maybe I should have made my own thread, but if someone wants anything other than the bumper I have it obo.
  13. I asked the guy after I gave it to him how much he was going to be able to turn it around for. "Probably around $1800" he says. :/
  14. Me too I like the slightly more aggressive OEM look. I went with his extended fiberglass one instead of the carbon and paint-matched it to my car. Very happy
  15. Someone is supposed to come tomorrow and give me $1300cad for this thing. Holy F
  16. Wow I sold one of these for like $100 4 years ago just to get it out of my garage. Now I dunno what to ask for this one
  17. Can someone tell me why these OEM downpipes are now selling for over $1k? I am parting out a 2011 STI and listed the dp for $300 and have people crawling out of my ass to buy it. Apparently prices have skyrocketed with covid. Can someone explain this?
  18. Good info. Now that I look into it you're right. I may just keep the rack as a backup then. Yeah the 6 speed swap from this generation seems like it will be tricky. There's a good chance I might sell it and use the money to get a spec b 6 speed swap but I do know of 1 or 2 people who have this gen STI trans working in their car with the DCCD functional. Once I get everything pulled off I can decide how to start piecing it back together. Either way the beauty is pieces like that will either work or provide funding for their equivalent correct piece.
  19. If it's an 05 you do not need a new assembly. Watch this video and either get that brand new pedal set I linked for $58 or just use that part number and order it from somewhere else, it will all work. It's just the cover you'll need to swap onto your assembly.
  20. I already said in both posts I'm keeping the engine
  21. Methinks you should see this one too though, just for full disclosure
