  1. No there are videos and posts on how to do this. Overall no. Probably small things here and there.
  2. Yeah I agree it's definitely a very usable car but I bought it when I was in a very different stage in life. I wanted a manual awd fast car I could drive year-round and could haul lots of stuff in when I needed to. Now I don't winter drive it anymore, have an SUV and don't need the wagon space, my wife can't drive manual and the newer cars coming out are just as fast and way more efficient. Besides I have way too many other hobbies these days and no time to spend on maintenance and mods. I think that's only going to get worse in the days to come
  3. Small update for some pics of the lower arm bar people are interested in. Will be listing more parts tomorrow.
  4. I think the time has come where I will be selling this car in the next few months. Lots of high quality parts here I was going to use for myself but I've just lost interest. Due to an upcoming baby, change in priorities and desire to buy an electric performance car sometime in the future; I'm not going to have the time and won't get the same satisfaction out of modifying this thing anymore even if I keep it so here goes. I will try and apply a shipped price to each part. All prices in USD. If you're Canadian we can do CAD at current exchange rate. If you're in the Ottawa-Kingston area you can pick up. Willing to do deals with multiple items. I accept paypal, crypto or potentially any other form of payment you suggest. 6. Man.. the responses that I get here sometimes make me think this place is Facebook. Let me seal this up for people who only read the post above theirs or 1 line of the original post. Maybe we can close this thread. As I said in the 2nd sentence, there was never any intent to reuse these parts. Why people seem to think it's necessary to say "don't cut corners" or "don't take the cheap way out" is beyond me. The intent of this thread was to determine whether these were salvageable for resale. Why? Because this car had it's engine replaced 20k kms before it got totaled. If it had its clutch replaced at the same time it would be worth reselling. I've never looked at a partially used clutch. Mentioning things to look for like cracks in the flywheel - great advice! I missed that when I was looking at it. Telling me not to reuse used parts...
  7. Took some pics yesterday before I throw these coilovers and wheels on. Can't wait to finally get rid of this butt sag.
  8. Well as I said I'm not planning to reuse them just seeing if they're any good and if I can sell them. Good point I'll take a closer look at whether those are actually cracks or just dirt. According to the PO this car was driving fine before it was in a rear end collision.
  9. This is the 6 speed clutch pack I pulled from my STI parts car but have no idea if it was replaced recently or not. I'm planning to sell this and go with a new one but just looking at the contact surfaces it I can't really eyeball how much life it has left. Anyone have any good tips on checking a flywheel/clutch disk? Does the thickness wear noticeably?
  10. I have an OEM STI uppipe I'm about to pull off of an engine and list in the classifieds here. PM me if you want it. OEM is the best quality. That said, my car is running a Grimmspeed right now and I'm happy with it.
  11. I have an aluminum accelerator pedal assembly I pulled from a 2011 STI. This is the 1 piece design that is used on the 2008-2009 (maybe 2007?) Spec B. If you are trying to upgrade your stock pedal to sport pedals and have one of the 1 piece design years, you'll need this assembly. Pretty sure the STI one is cross-compatible with the WRX and Legacy that use this design but check part numbers if concerned. I have only personally done the swap on my 2005 which is a different design accelerator. The brake and clutch pedals are covers and are the same throughout all years. Selling cheap. $35 shipped USA/Canada
  12. I hope this shop is covering all of this under warranty considering they replaced the shortblock and are now having issues with that same shortblock.
  13. We need more pictures of this car Madrig!
  14. I've done all my doors and wagon hatch area and the most noticeable thing I've seen is better sound quality from the speaker cabinet effect on the doors. Noise reduction is hard to determine because I'm accustomed to how the car sounds but there was some small amount of noise reduction from the exhaust, which was my goal. It isn't Jaguar quiet by any means but if I crack a window and listen to the outside world you can tell the car is quiet. If I ever have the carpet up again I'll do the footwells/floor and that would probably help a lot. Also I have a 2018 Nissan Rogue SL with the stock Bose system and I did all 4 doors in that too. Comparing it to someone else's Rogue, mine had noticeably better mid bass and sound quality in general but no noticeable reduction in road noise. Those cars are already pretty quiet though.
  15. I think Shawn06SpecB has it right. The frameless windows are the weak point for that weighty sound you're looking for.
  16. Yeah that's why I'm looking for a reputable one. I've seen all the Amazon stuff and don't trust it the cheap Chinese stuff in this regard. The kit I mentioned in the original post had a pretty good reputation and was a Canadian company. They had only good reviews but they don't seem to be available anymore. Might be related to the global chip shortage. Compustar, Viper etc don't offer anything above just the regular 2 way starters and alarms which is too bad. If I find something promising I'll post it here.
  17. What brand were the kits that didn't work? Edit: also why specifically Viper Python Avital?
  18. You should watch the video first. Even if I don't do it myself there is an entire industry built on doing this stuff. If it's a well-built kit from a reputable manufacturer there's nothing wrong with installing a remote start system.
  19. Anyone running an aftermarket remote starter on a manual? If so, what system are you using and do you or do you not recommend that system? I want to do a complete conversion to push-button start, proximity key, remote starter etc. and I've found one system that provides an OEM-like conversion but the company looks like it just went out of business this year as they're not responding to any messages or updating their website (Advanced Keys). Check out the video below. Anyone know of another system like this?
