  1. Try cleaning and tightening the connectors to actual defroster on the glass. Could be corroded due to its age. Be careful pulling the connectors off.
  2. @Infosecdad @Dishwasher had a thread here named something like `Insurance and you`. Not sure it will help in your specific circumstances but it had a lot of very useful information.
  3. I was so over the Honda Accord wagon when I was dirt poor grad student. Still like it.
  4. It was `Dishwasher`, even though he was in commercial fleet insurance he knew a few things about personal cars insurance as well. @Infosecdad Brian what's your insurance company? I feel that list of requirements is fairly restrictive.
  5. Here's a much more realistic choice of car from BaT for @m sprank to come to ECM2024: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1998-subaru-legacy-3/
  6. @Infosecdad So sorry to see that happen to your wagons, total bummer... Especially the RBP one looking so much like mine. Duh. Congrats on your daughter's wedding though, mine is going to be 13 this spring and I can't imagine let her out on a date much less getting married. Kids grow fast.
  7. I almost scraped enough pocket change to put a bid above current $66K USD but shipping is outrageous:
  8. That's not my territory, if I can get 5 or 10% off on SB from my dealer that would be great. They give me 20% on small-ish orders but SB is a different kind of animal. A coworker is offering a built long block from his totaled 06 LGT, but a) he's not sure if timing belt jumped, and b) engine is in the car still. Not sure I am in the shape, physical and mental, to pull the engine on the driveway in this weather.
  9. 405 miles from home. Hope wagon is in good enough shape to make it there and back home. Need to figure out the dates and whether boys are looking to attend so we can get the math figured out.
  10. All those had the HG done, way past 100K though. My LGT at 178K, Tribeca at 155K, 05 NA OB at 198K. 2010 OB I do not recall but when the TOB went I did the HG also, simply because the engine was already out. I have now got rid of engine hoist and engine stand. Hoping wagon's engine lasts another season before I have to deal with bubbles in the expansion tank.
  11. We should do a group buy on new SBs. My wagon's engine needs new head gaskets soon but with the mileage on this original motor I need a new SB too. Duh.
  12. Same here. The owner mentioned Legacy GT forums several times in the responses there, I wonder if he's on this forum.
  13. Here is a potential car for @m sprank. Boys sent me a link today. https://carsandbids.com/auctions/301kAP4p/2009-subaru-legacy-25gt-specb
  14. I have to say that as a software engineer I am amazed how far the technology has come. Excited and afraid at the same time of what lays ahead if the momentum continues.
  15. That sucks man. Based on shape it looks like the rear door weather strip to me. Worst I ran into with OEM parts were wiper inserts that were 1.5" shorter than stated. Still have them...
  16. Putting the hose back on the block is fun-fun-fun. I used some clear wire lubricant to force slide it on that nipple on the block, with the clamp already on the lower portion of the hose. Not looking to do it again tbh...
  17. I call brave, labor is always the most expensive part of any project. If you can save some dough by doing the work yourself that's great. I personally love doing this kind of work and I have done a lot. When my sons help me then we really can get major projects complete (and we have). I have the shed full of stuff that wold be in the garage otherwise so yes, a big shed is a blessing.
  18. Had shed exactly like this one in our previous house. Rebuilt the platform before selling the house. @Enlight Tell your friend to watch for beams when he is inside (ask me how I know). @jaylew You are more brave than I am. Even though I like building things, I bought pre-fab with delivery and installation. Too many projects at the new house and there is only 24 hours in a day.
  19. Are you doing this with the dash out or still in place?
  20. May be the parking brake handle switch is not working on the sim...
  21. Btw, I have bought some "OEM" parts from Amazon that ended up being counterfeit. In particular, years back was prepping for an overhaul of front suspension on son's 05 OB and bought shocks and tops hats from Amazon. Parts waited for a few months until I had everything ready and when we opened the boxes the top hats were clearly remanufactured old top hats. Cracked rubber, just painted over with black spray paint. Boxes were brand new though. "Made in India". Not sure if this was a return from some smart ars customer that got shipped to me, or real counterfeit stuff, but after that I stopped buying parts from Amazon. Support your local dealer if you can.
  22. Oh wow, I have actually read through the whole thread. Learned a lot about racing gigs and have a slight idea that the place has been chosen and early November there may be an invoice coming. Which is great, as my boys and I are looking forward to it! The wagon is probably not going to be driven at Watkins Glen. During the ECM trip the engine was pushing the coolant out of the expansion tank. We made the trip to PA safely but I am not sure I want to risk it. Not in the position to deal with the engine right now - at 248K it needs new short block, not just head gaskets. Will see where it all stands closer to date.
