  2. Good news it seems likely , but either way it's definitely an issue.

     

    The other up side is now you need to remove your intake manifold, and are likely to find all kinds of gasket band hoses in terrible shape that will need replacement, and improve your situation.

     

    These cars are so much simpler to work on and it's been a nice change.

     

    That being said the intake manifold and everything around it is the worst design I have ever seen, built to fail. The whole vacuum system is plumbed it the most stupid way ( see blue tee)

     

    Wile you have it apart delete or replace the blue tee and change where your FPR gets it's boost reference

  3. My legacy sure sounds like a lawn tractor, lol

     

    When I removed my intake manifold I saw so many areas of oil soaked blow by that where not really visible with the manifold and intercooler on.

     

    Mine has 177k and Evey gasket and hose in that general area was cooked from the heat and leaking.

     

    Tgv to manifold, throttle body hose, turbo inlet and some weird little hose connecting block hard line breather cross over where the worst offenders

  5. That intercooler will work with a nipple style turbo. I would think twice about selling it if you're going with STi intake.
    I was hoping the same thing but they no longer sell the different style silicone hose.

     

    Any suggestions ?

     

    The other side of the coin is also there is TONS of sti options available , kinda seems like it much better for someone with a legacy style because there is only one good option (GS) and the process west is superior

  6. I really want an H6 LEGACY , to be supercharged later. The sound is amazing.

     

    The 5eat is a much better auto option than most in the price range but it's threads like these that keep me from ever pulling the trigger.

     

    Ya know now that the late model WRX 6 speed swap has been proven it is a much cheaper option for a manual swap, could ditch that slug box and get a 6 speed for a lot less than the typical STI swap.

     

    That being said unless you do the labor yourself , feel like it's going to get pricey converting from an auto.

     

    Even my ex wife thought your car looked nice though, so might be worth it

  7. The tuner is the one that ordered this kit. It was my reading and asking a bunch of questions that uncovered the fact that I am missing a couple of dampers. Can't find too much info online about converting this specific model to top feed.

     

    I'll get there eventually. Since the manifold has to come off anyways, might as well get the crappy cob inlet pipe out and switch to a Perrin.

    That's unfortunate, I would reach out to the tuner and see what he had in mind, I remember it being time sensitive originally. Now that you are this far down the rabbit hole I might consider returning that kit if possible and making you own lines and getting a new fpr

  8. Thanks but my line kit is for use with a stock FPR. I might just let the tuner install the injectors and deal with any damper weirdness.
    You have kind of backed yourself into a corner with the kit you bought, the OEM rails have the damper as a part of them and can't be relocated to ANY aftermarket rail.

     

    Some people will buy stock top feed rails from and 08 plus legacy or WRX/sti and use the dampers from that set up.

     

    You basically have two options at this point.

     

    Scrap or modify your line kit to incorporate the later model top feed rail dampers or after market.

     

    Only run the damper at the fpr.

     

    When you originally started asking about this I suggested custom lines was the best option , or just to have your tuner buy and install whatever he suggested.

     

    Also to make the situation worse as mentioned above aftermarket dampers don't seem to have any advantage over stock, and from all the reading I have done you are going to get the most reduction in stumble from a two port fpr , plumbed in parallel with independent returns for each rail.

     

    At this point I would just slap on the new rails and line kit to your stock fpr, omitting the other two damper and see how it goes.

  9. Can I use the stock fuel pressure regulator too?

    And the dampers on a stock 2006 are on the old fuel rail. I'll need an aftermarket pulse damper right?

    For your fpr upgrade, did you go with an Aeromotive?

    It depends on the kit you bought some are from stock fpr, some for aremotive.

     

    I went with radium engineering.

     

    There is some basic pics of my setup ony build thread, I made all custom lines.

     

    Most people would suggest you keep or substitute the dampers specially with stock fpr

  10. Did you finish your conversion?

     

    I'm thinking about tackling this myself at some point. Are you pulling your intake manifold and removing the stock metal fuel lines?

    I did finish it, completely removed metal lines and OEM fpr, so much cleaner. All new braided AN lines and fittings

     

    I did completely remove my intake , based on the shape all my gaskets and vacuum line where in will say it's foolish to not pull it and replace everything.

     

    Plan on replacing all your vacuum lines in the area all gaskets , and probably breaking a nipple on that peice of shit , heat baked plastic manifold

     

    My build would be done if it wasn't for the manifold, I'm going to to an STI conversion because I can't get myself to buy a replacement.

     

    If you want to a avoid any damage to the manifold and else where get everything nice and hot with a hair dryer, I got lazy on one hose and it's how ended up in this spot.

     

    Added bonus without OEM lines to deal with the manifold can be installed or uninstalled in two pieces.
