Car is not that far away.  I have traveled more distance to pick up.  Issue is cash.  No bank (legal) will open a new loan on a 2006 model year car.  Not an LGT at least.  Its Christmas, family is priority.

Must be "adult" and not buy toys for me.

Mod car for use at Summit Point???  https://summitpointmotorsportspark.com/

Good man. This is the main reason my car has sat - I built it to be a weekend toy back when my first was born, and ever since my weekends have largely been dedicate to other, more important things. Not that they are mutually exclusive, but the car fell way down the list of priorities. BTW I am in MA, so Lime Rock would be my track of choice. :)

@UnderdogDon't part out this car out. At the right time, a buyer will come forward. It will be exactly the year, trim and condition they are looking for. It's just timing and if you have time, that person will make that offer inevitably.

In my opinion, I would list within the forum first. Visibility is lower but for those who are still active we can vouch for the build quality, reputation of the owner and overall value of this vehicle. I actually sent this to my buddy who has been looking for a SpecB. If you want to share pricing over PM, I'd gladly share this with him to see if he's interested.

Not knocking BaT or equivalent auction sites which will generate more visibility. But I'm with you on the no reserve deal. It's a toss up in the end, you won't have a choice if its way under what your expectations were on final sale price.

I appreciate the wisdom. I definitely have the time to wait, and like I said earlier - I'd rather leave some on the table and have it go to the right buyer than squeeze every last penny out of it on auction to some rando. The key is going to be measured investment into the things it needs to be ready and more desirable for sale when the time comes. The upside is that the investments will make it easier to drive in the meantime (replacing my 10y/o summer tires with an all season, for example).

I couldn't part mine out. I just couldn't undo years of carefully calculated work to get it to the desired state. I know if the day ever comes that I need to pass it on, I'll lose potential money because of it; but I'm better off mentally. 😝

This sounds a lot like encouragement to never let it go!

  2. I’ve been thinking about it while waiting for some answers to my questions from the folks at BaT. They were encouraging me to list it no reserve, which frankly is pretty intimidating. My gut feeling is I’d rather list it here at a fixed price and potentially leave some cash on the table than take the chance of getting hosed, but I need a few more answers before I make my decision. I have the FS thread all typed up - so if I decline to auction it I’ll set a price and list it in the next day or two.

Dammit.  One LGT I would probably buy.  Like a nearing the event horizon the I feel the gravitational forces sucking me in.  Must use restraint and exhibit self control.........

I get the struggle! Exactly why I’ve been unable to part with it for the past several years, even though I haven’t had the chance to drive it much. Honestly I’d be psyched for it to go to you or any other of the die hard enthusiasts here.

sad day!  mine is still sitting :hide: ... almost had it sold this summer for pennies, but it didn't pan out...

    how much for yours? ;)

TBD! I submitted it to Bring a Trailer so I guess I need to see how that plays out before I list it outright. I’ll be sure to keep folks updated here.

Meanwhile, today is my 10 year purchase anniversary, set to hit 100k of my own miles before new year.

Congrats on the anniversary and milestone!

  5. Hey all - sad to say it but the time has come for me to part ways with my Legacy. The car sits way more than it should and frankly I need to move beyond my attachment to it. It's an understatement to say it has been a great car to drive for the past 16 years (!!!) and I have loved being a part of this community. I'd love for it to go to someone with the same passion for the platform, and will be making a sale thread in the classifieds. If you know anyone who has been looking for an exceptionally clean, original-owner, sub 90k mile 2006 LGT 5spd,  I'd appreciate you pointing them my way.

  6. hello past LGT kin. i added some fluids to the 4th gen and started trying to sort it out to sell it.

it's been a while since i've been here. for a bunch of various reasons (some valid and some not), the LGT has basically been sitting for a while. it still starts, still seems to run fine, but it's time for it to go. main issue right now is while sitting the brake line that runs down the passenger side has given way (found fluid leaking under the rear passenger side door) so it's not able to be moved.

general question, and feel free to tell me to bug off... but what are the value of these things these days? there's probably about 55k on the rebuilt engine and i think around 175k on the overall body, but i had a ton done to it over the years. i've attached my build sheet, it put down 311whp/333wtq on a mustang dyno, and i've attached the full list of mods i've ever done to it. not in the list mods is that the valve body for the 5EAT was modified by ClimberD (HexMods).

    Known issues with the car:

    • The A/C doesn't work
    • The seats in the interior are in the shape of a car from 2005, except the driver's side seat has a pretty good tear in the bolster. However, the entire carpet was replaced with black carpet when I had the car rebuilt in 2014
    • A wire is snipped on the Grimmspeed EBCS causing a CEL and limited boost, but I have a replacement EBCS on hand I just never installed
    • The rear driver's side door handle needs to be painted. There was a failure of the mechanism and I had it replaced, but the shop that replaced it wouldn't work with me to get it painted
    • The battery is toast but it jumps and runs when needed (I started it to test the brakes)

The car was PDR'd in 2014 and the exterior is in pretty good shape. The front bumper (JDM) could use a respray and it's got that typical fourth gen rust in front of the driver's side wheel well. I also have a ton of the stock parts hanging around and even some BNIB performance parts.

Anyone want to give a swag at what I could get for it? It's still in my possession since buying my Audi in 2017 because I wanted to move into a situation where I could garage the LGT and tinker with it, but life has just not gone in that direction. Honestly it probably needs some more work besides the brakes and the list above (tires, the wheels are in rough shape) so I'm not expecting top dollar.

I hope you all are well. It's good to see some familiar names still active in here.

Good luck with the sale, man. I'm sure that's a difficult decision given how much you've put into the car over the years. Wish I could help you with a ballpark value but I don't really know what the market is like these days. Your car was a fun build and will be a great starting point for someone looking for a project.

  7. The wagon folk were discussing it a few years ago.

Found this for my own curiosity today.

Thanks for the link - jogged my memory from when I rewired the FPCM many years back. You can just make out the vent in the shadow on the left side of the pic. I'll check those vents and make some more mesh screens if needed.

  8. Laughed at "driving season". How many miles do you have on it?

Good call on the intake protection, what about the exhaust vents under the rear bumper skin?

It’s at 89,5xx currently. I’m going to be driving it more this year now that I’m back to work full time. Only thing holding me back from year-round driving is the summer rubber. The tires turn 10 years old this year so they will be getting replaced with some all seasons in the fall.

I wasn’t aware of any cabin venting that exits under the bumper skin. I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the heads up.

  9. I feel sorry for everyone who doesn't own a GRP LGT... :p

Great day for some minor paint correction and getting it ready for another driving season. This week I'm going to have the windshield replaced again - I had the original windshield replaced back in February while I had the cowl out to get rid of a mouse that took up residence on my cabin filter, but the installer didn't get a good seal between the molding and the body. Going with another installer this time, assuming they think they can do better. Pic below shows the screen I made to keep critters out of the airbox, and the ultrasonic deterrent I still need to wire up (I've had to do this on my other vehicles as well - that's living in the woods for ya). Last pic shows the gap between the windshield molding and the body - previous installer suggested using a heat gun to mold it into place, which is why I won't be going back to him.

  10. Stupid question for people here:

Has anybody had any luck or ideas for running a fuseblock and/or placement? I'm looking for a good way to reliably provide power to some goodies (power folding mirrors, HID levelers and LEDs DRLs).

A bit involved but I relocated the battery to the trunk then made my own accessory fuse box in the battery’s original location. There’s also a decent amount of room in the driver side fog light area if you can get creative with a bracket.
