Now that is the best looking outback I have seen. Ever since I saw the first Black outbak I was hoping somone would do just that. Personally I would change the grille and clear the lights, maybee drop it a bit more and it would be perfect. Still the sickest looking outback ever!

Damn classy.

That must have run a pretty penny, though! :)

in case anyone was curious how the new wheel/tire compares to the oem, i realized that i still had pictures of the two wheels in my camera....

oem = 7x17 et48, 225/55-17

ssr = 8.5x18 et48, 245/45-18

i thought i might have to roll the rear wheelwells because of the increased width but now i think i have enough clearance after removing the rubber strip around the wheelwell. (remember i'm running coilovers so I have no issues with clearance to the inside).

Hey Andrew...I am wondering what your mileage change has been since you have done the increased tire size. You have a wider rim than I do by an inch, so your tread aspect is much larger than mine, even though we have the same tire size. (your's look so hot BTW).

I took a road trip to the mountains last week, 350 mile round trip and averaged 29.6 mpg with average speed of 58mph over that distance. Elevation change was from 5800 ft to 11,100 feet, back adn forth. Climed up over the Eisenhower Tunnel pass 2 times.

In the city, with aggressive driving about 50% of the time, I am getting 23.4mpg.

Just curious how things are going for you since it has been a while and you got some time in on your amazing set up.

cheers

jon

Hi Jon. Um I don't think I've ever seen 25 mpg let alone 29.6, did you buy the hybrid version of the OBXT? :lol: I randomly check my mileage by the tankful and maybe 3 or 4 tanks together and my mileage hovers at 22-23 mpg. I swapped tires around 2K miles and I thought I was getting low 20s with the re92s as well. Maybe the engine was still in breaking-in mode but I've never seen anything close to 25 mpg.

I'm running the kdw2s @ 2 lbs over oem tire pressures (34 front, 32 rear i think), and the tires feel solid, the sidewalls aren't squirmy at all. If I run higher pressures I don't feel that there's any performance improvement but at city speeds broken pavement becomes extremely unbearable.

I find it most enjoyable driving highway speeds in the 35-75 mph range. The wagon corners and tracks well, never wanders, steering effort seems heavier than I recall when it was at stock height which seems to be an advantage. I had 3 people in the wagon and I rode in the back for about an hour, plush would not be a word i'd use to describe the ride. :redface:

here's a shot from last weekend...
