To remove or not to remove banjo bolt filter

Recommended Posts

I'm installing P&L AVCS and turbo oil feed lines this week along with 2 new OCV, I've seen very divided opinions on the banjo bolt filter in searches. I'm running the stock vf40 still, and haven't had any issues at 84k miles, but am considering removing the filter when I install these lines. My OCI is around 3000 miles never over 3500 miles, and I don't have to top off between changes checking every 2 fillups at the pump. My question is how many here have actually removed it without issue?

228k. never replaced. regular oil changes every 3-4k. never had an issue.
258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos

Removed mine at 144k miles. Too little, too late. Motor was already smoking, turbo went bad, etc. I just took it out to see if that was the cause; no light would pass through it.
