robertsm99
I know standard rims on my '08 Spec-b are 18" but have ahd a lot of issues with the factory rims and blowing tires on potholes. Never had an issue in my '05 Legacy GT which had 17" rims and tires. Does anyone know if 17's will fit with the calipers and everything else? Thanks. I Donated Too luchadorjose Posted January 2, 2013 I Donated Too Share Posted January 2, 2013 Yes, a 17" OEM wheel will fit without any issues. 215/45/17 tire size is factory spec
robertsm99
Cool thanks. Now I need to decide if I want to downsize. And even if I do manage to do so will it help my issue...
Drift Motion
Yes, a 17" OEM wheel will fit without any issues. 215/45/17 tire size is factory spec that's only for the GT the specB has a taller sidewall, so use a tire size calculator to find the right size for yourself GT and SpecB shares the same brakes, therefore if it fits the GT, it'll fit the SpecB
.Catalyst.
^ This. Speedo will be off for the spec.B since it was calibrated using a 215/45R18 as stock. I'm running 215/45R17 on factory 05 LGT wheels for winters without issue (outside of the speedo calc). My spec.B [#163] Project Thread with Pictures Get CryoTuned! robertsm99
Cool, thanks. How far off is the speed-o? Have you been able to calculate it or figured it out?

robertsm99
Cool, thanks appreciate it. One more thing that occurred to me today, will I have to get a 17" spare as well or will the mickey mouse still work if I happen to get a flat? Drift Motion
im pretty sure you already have a 17" spare tire/wheel setup
Whatisit
no, specs have a different spare due to the 18" rim size. He will need to get a GT spare
robertsm99
So I started looking around and was informed that even if I go with a 17" rim and use a 215/45 17 tire that it wouldn't help my situation with potholes and that I'd need a 50 or 55 to actually make the difference. Do they make a 215/50 18 tire? Would it fit in the wheel well or would I have to go with a 215/50 17?
NewLegGT67
You might also want to consider a 225/45/17 for the potholes. I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.
