Where to look for a wagon?

Caboose

Recommended Posts

Besides the classifieds here, Autotrader, and Cars.com, where are other good places online to look for an LGT? I realize these are somewhat rare cars, but I'm not having much luck finding one, let alone a wagon.

I'm sure I'll have to test drive a sedan to even decide if I want a Subaru. I've never driven one, and I've never ridden in one.

The thing you have the most of is time so use it to your advantage and do research. I went back and put together an excel sheet of cars that sold on this forum and other places that fit the bill of what I was looking for. I used it as a means to pull all the data together in order to get fair market value. The problem for buyers with these cars is that most sellers know there is a demand that isn't being met, as a result the price of the car is often higher than blue book. Every seller is entitled to sell their car for what it was worth, I had people trying to sell me cars for what they paid for 2 years ago but with many more miles. Stand firm on what you want and something good will come. Was looking at a wagon in OH before the seller decided to hold onto it. Lucked out and last week I took a flight down to ATL and picked up a 5-speed manual wagon will all the power mods I would have wanted to do myself. Hell of a deal in my opinion and all because I was patient and "did my homework."

I looked on and off for about 9 months before finding mine. I'm happy with the purchase still, despite little quirks here and there. :)

Luckily I found mine about 40 miles from my house.

You'll find it in due time if you're not in a hurry!

I just bought a white 05 LGT Limited wagon from Serramonte Certified (their new-car dealership does Subaru and VW) near San Francisco. Paid $17k out the door ($15.7k before tax and registration) with 49k miles on the odometer. As rare as these things are, they have ANOTHER one being prepped for sale. I had a look at it while we were discussing price. It's red with beige leather and it's a Limited with around 90k miles on it if I remember correctly, 5EAT. This was just 8 days ago so I doubt they even have the car ready yet. You can probably call and ask if you're willing to come all the way out to the Bay.

Here's their site: http://www.serramontecertified.com/

I'm sure there is a lot more I'm forgetting, and I can update as needed.

Full disclosure: The car was in an accident ~6 weeks ago. It was not a total loss, and is currently in the process of being repaired. The repairs carry a lifetime warranty, and the car will not be leaving the body shop until I deem it acceptable. My standards for quality are bar-none, so it will be perfect. I've attached pictures from the accident below. The damage was almost entirely superficial, despite my initial thoughts otherwise. The car was Stage 2 for a little while (~15k) but was converted back to Stage 1 before we moved to Texas. The car is back to stock now, though I still have an APV2 I can sell with the car.

Before the accident, I'd have rated the car at a solid 9.5/10. No real dings or chips to speak of. I expect after everything is taken care of at the body shop, and after it's detailed, it will easily exceed that.

Because it's still at the shop, I don't have a specific time frame of when it'll be available. It could be as soon as a week, or as long as another month.

I haven't really thought much about asking price at this point, to be honest, but if you are interested then I'm sure we can work something out.

Accident:

It is almost entirely body damage, no significant frame damage. It just ended up needing some minor pillar alignment, from what I was told.

I did a tan to black interior swap in my Lexus. I'd do it again for the right wagon, but I'd REALLY like to avoid doing that if possible.

BTW, what's a ballpark cost for a full black interior? The Lexus wasn't cheap, even with me doing the work. That's money I'd MUCH rather be spending on other mods.
