Matty2Hotty Posted September 13, 2013 Share Posted September 13, 2013 How about just making a custom metal skid plate/body pan to fit right under the front end to protect the headers from rain/snow, I'm pretty sure they won't crack as fast. pleaidestar Posted September 13, 2013 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Its not bumping them or scraping that causes the cracking, the places the crack are under the flange and where the so called welds are. Its the thermal expansion that does them in from what I have seen. I have fixed three sets of them in 4 years, all of them needed to be hard faced at the welds because they are dragging material from the flanges to fuse the tube to it..basically they aren't adding a feeder rod to the weld areas.
