wurkenman
I put in my request a couple of weeks ago, but no one listened, so I had to do the yard work first. Now that it's done on the the 05 LGT engine build. Here are some of the internals. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq54/wurkenman/LGT/P1010282.jpg The crank. What is the clearance on the rods to the crank. These feel kind of loose. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq54/wurkenman/LGT/P1010285.jpg If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right. wurkenman
Checked the rod clearance and it is good at .0015. Now just waiting for the right main bearings. Seems that I bought an under size set. Not only am I getting old, apparently I can't frikin read either. If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right. mwiener2
If you bought cosi's, you're not alone in screwing that up. My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
wurkenman
Got the right bearings. Block halves together. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq54/wurkenman/2012-07-01134611.jpg Almost too pretty to hide in an engine block. http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq54/wurkenman/2012-07-01134659.jpg If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right. Leviman
Aren't you supposed to put the pistons on the rods before the case halves go together? This ain't no VW...
wurkenman
Aren't you supposed to put the pistons on the rods before the case halves go together? This ain't no VW... Not possible. At least I can't figure it out. If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right.
Max Capacity
Not possible. At least I can't figure it out. Correct that why there are those ports in the side of the block. That's one of the pieces that make these engine rebuilds labor intensive and why my buddy told me to get a new oem short block instead of paying his shop to rebuild my old short block. If I want a 400whp+ block he could build me a good one. But for my hp goals it wasn't worth it. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). wurkenman
Correct that why there are those ports in the side of the block. This is my fourth Subaru tear down. Believe me the first one was a mystery on how to get the pistons and block separated. If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right. specialB
man I have three bays and three storage lifts in my garage and I'd much rather be in yours. my father is merely a collector and always gives me shit when I try to wrench on my car in the garage. can't wait to do my short block install and hopefully 6mt drivetrain swap all at the same time. good luck with the build seems like you've been around the block once or twice with these

Max Capacity
Do you plan to port the heads and norrow the dividers ? I had my buddies machine shop do that to mine. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. wurkenman
I am not doing any head work at this time. The heads are shimmed and new cams are ready for install. After having to replace the heads and the block, funds are just running low. It should still be fun and it will be my daily driver. It's not a problem pulling the engine anyway, just in case I need MORE:). If you woke up today, you have another chance to do it right.
wurkenman
Last couple of days have been hotter than hell in the midwest. I stayed in the house with the air on. Got out today and did some more assembly. My wife does not like my garage either. Too messy for her taste. More pics to follow as time permits. Yard work waits for no one and I have 2 acres of grass to cut.
