coppertone
Meaning how much would you spend on your total car audio. That would be all parts only, no installation. For my background I have spent at least $1800.00 on a head unit just as a basis. It seems nowadays that car audio prices fluctuate based upon what is hyped up at the particular moment. I know some people who have 17 speakers in their cars, and others who run 4. With all things being equal, please share your dollar amount spent. 2010 2.5GT limited is for sale. DeltaNu1142
For my purposes, I see no need to run more than 7 speakers: separates FL & FR, coax in the rear + a sub. The sub itself & the amp I already had; but let's say $300 new...$660 for a Pioneer AVIC-X940BT head unit$220 or so for a sub enclosureThe extra $400 just to put a double-DIN unit into the LGT kinda adds some "artificial" expense to my list... plus another $100 to dye the pieces adds up to... $1680? Wow, it didn't seem like that much when I was buying it all over the span of a few weeks. But, yeah, that's probably about right. I ended up with GPS, DVD, Bluetooth phone, and iPod interface with good, clean sound. It's probably not much more than I've spent on other car audio setups (aside from the JDM double-DIN kit). coppertone
Its amazing when we start to add up the cost, how quickly we come to see we were blinded by smaller purchases. I usually start with what makes the most pronounced effect on my sounds. Then I migrate into deeper pastures from there only to be raped by my own selfish desires lol. 2010 2.5GT limited is for sale. BigTDogg MA
I've got about $2K in my Z's system, but I bought most of it used. An Xtant 3300x would go for close to $900 new back in the day, the 2140c would be close to $700, I got them for about $200 each used. My LGT system is going to be pretty basic. 2 pairs of coaxes and a sub. One amp, and an MS-8. Done

KSpan
So far I'm at $250 each for a JVC KW-R900BT HU and some HAT Imagine speaks for the front. I guess my sub, an MTX Road Thunder 5500 and box ran me $200 about 10 years ago. When it's all said and done, I'll probably be right around $1500. kongzilla
For myself to be satisfied with a car sound system, it would have to spend about $2500-$3500. Thats why I would never start.
Marcazi
I had the same problem. By the time I got a good head unit in my Legacy, I had already spent $2500. My system cost my just under $10k with doing it completely myself.
