N/A Legacy Stage 1 Package (AVO)

Recommended Posts

The DBW has 3 settings for wet/rain/mud, normal, and 9 stages of "power" settings. Easy to fine tune to your preferences. People can certainly get a re-tune instead - except if you have an n/a which Cobb doesn't support any more, and opensource doesn't have definitions for. Having sold several turbo kits for the 2.5i and having to get definitions created for over half those customers, I can say it's 50/50 of finding a tuning solution for a particular model.

The exhaust and intake is the increase - dbw is for having it feel better.

If you're interested in tuning the 3.0R, your best bet is to hit up the Australian Legacy (Liberty) forums. I've been lurking on their forums for a few years and it seems like they're the ones who are doing the most with the N/A engine. It's mainly due to the high prevalence of the 3.0R down there. That and the fact that they have a Spec.B version of the car.

I did but the 3.0R header for the automatics only comes in production in late June. I don't think I will be able to wait that long. :(

Even without the header, it may still be possible to hunt down a basic tune, or at least find out exactly how they're tuning their vehicles.

I would imagine that's the best way to get the full benefits of what Paul's offering here.

Paul, do you have any idea how much gains would there be with the exhaust + the filter + a tune? Also, do you do any tunes for N/A cars?

It's only an estimate, but probably between 10-20hp maximum. I actually don't have much experience with the 3.0-liters personally, I know much more about the 2.0 and 2.5 liter n/a's and turbo models. For the same reason I don't think I'd be up for tuning the 3.0-liter. While it's probably not too complicated, it's just not an area I'm personally familiar with.

Lol, your one of the reasons I've no new ones available, they've been spoken for.

And for updates on that - they are here, technically. I'm waiting for the trucking company to call me up on exact delivery date/time. I should have been two days ago. :(

Just a fun little progression of recovering a muffler tip from long burnt plastic.

yeah, pretty ugly.

Heat gun set to Obliviate to soften it up a bit. It and a box knife blade for the major stuff.

After trying a variety of other chemical methods, it got down to doing it the hard way.

Now for the fun part...

A lot of polishing via what was on hand. Having all the proper equipment (big buffers) would help, but I'm not set up for that.

And then the final touch by hand.

It's not too complicated - you are basically letting it know where 0% and 100% throttle is. That's measured by a voltage signal (drive by wire....), and the box mainly needs to know what the specifics are for your vehicle. So you start that process, press a button when there's no pressure on the throttle, then after it "learns" that, you mash the throttle to 100%, press the set button, and you are ready to go.

Here's a sound clip/video of just the mufflers on my Outback. They have the downturned tips (because Outback), but the basic muffler design is the same.

Paul - do you have a part number on those mufflers? Sound (not too loud) and style (nice, but unobtrusive) is exactly what I'm looking for on my 06 Outback 2.5I.

Thanks!

Alright so I'm new to this website I just bought a 2010 Legacy 2.5i with 6spd Manual and I'm toying with the idea of getting some upgrades, mainly going dual exhaust over my stock exhaust system. I've only been looking for a couple days but performance parts seem to be hard to find for a 2.5i at least in 2010 is this kit coming out for my year? or does it already work with it?
