Daily post limit?

Recommended Posts

why do you suggest that I feel threatened?

Because you show some anger at the mere suggestion of limits and attempt to slight me for raising the subject.

Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.

What forums are you on that impose daily post limits?

Nothing personal, but I don't feel like sharing that information.

you have obviously never owned/run a forum before.

Don't see how this is relevant to the subject but please feel free to elaborate.

regardless of what it posted, an active forum is a healthy forum. Tide doesn't make money when the forum is dead. Vendors won't pay to join a forum that limits the amount of posts a member can post in one day. Adsense doesn't work when members are not continually changing pages. Websites don't build ranking when members don't spend time on them.

I've built and sold several forums and I've never seen one that is successful by limiting posts.

I made the suggestion in the best faith because I believe new members are turned off or discouraged from posting when signal/noise ratio drops too low.

Vendors won't pay to join a forum that limits the amount of posts a member can post in one day.

Given the poor quality of some of our vendors, I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. And before you remind me the vendors pay the bills, I have on several occasions asked what I'd need to donate to see some of them gone.

I've built and sold several forums and I've never seen one that is successful by limiting posts.

Ah. Would it be uncharitable to suspect your definition of successful somehow includes a profitable sale? I'm more impressed with utility than profitability but I'd be interested to hear Tide's opinion, unless of course you're speaking on his behalf.

this is a business not charity. The sooner you understand that, the sooner you will move on from the ill-conceived notion that limiting posts will create a positive outcome.

I don't speak for Chad, I speak for common sense.

I speak for common sense.

You have a newsletter I can subscribe to?

Actually, hold that thought. I think I've posted enough for one day.
