maniaxzero
When it gets warmer in NY, I'm thinking about painting the calipers with metalcast groundcoat, then metalcast red to achieve a candy apple red effect. Problem is I don't want them to chip easily, what are some good strong high temp clearcoat solution? What clearcoat did you guys use in the past? Here's some sample pics of what I'm trying to achieve: Groundcoat http://i.imgur.com/fmVJgl.jpg Metalcast Red http://i.imgur.com/c4trwl.jpg Finished http://i.imgur.com/F1XtCl.jpg Here's a current pic of my car: http://i.imgur.com/aL67S.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Vo3So.jpg My goal is to have the calipers match the color of my headlight projectors.. 01rs25
Well that looks like a mess. Why did you decide to paint EVERYTHING? Lugs, Calipers, Brake pads, retaining clips. All the time you spend putting newspaper everywheres you could have just as easily pulled the calipers off and done it properly. Slammed more than your girlfriend. He said those are sample pics, not pics that he took of the process on his car. With that said, I think it'll look nice, if you do it properly 2006 SWP 3.0R 5EAT VDC BBQ 2008 OBP 2.5i 4EAT BBQ [RIP]

maniaxzero
On a side note, I just spoke to someone on the mazdaspeed forums. He painted his mazdaspeed6 calipers with plasti dip white for a whole year and it's still on there good with no heating problems. I'm debating if I should paint the calipers with metalcast, then use the plastidip glossifier as a clearcoat.. http://www.toolorbit.com/image/Performix/Performix-11212-6-lg.jpg

subie.snob
so has anyone plastidipped their calipers yet? I was wondering the same thing! The chrome on my grill is chipping so I was going to do that... then I got to thinking... wheels can be done, so what about calipers? Hell, someone did their whole car! FocuS
Wouldn't the plastidip product be a little problematic with the heats brake rotors experience...
