ChemicalWaste
I had the same thing on my old 98. I swore it was the outback suspension. I think there was about 1.5" difference between the two at that time and I had the same ground clearance as an outback in the front. I can't help on anything though. http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=926&pictureid=5043
ssbtech
Judging by how much higher the spring perch is than the top of the tire, I'd say you have Outback struts in there... You've also got slotted rotors, so someone has been monkeying around in there.
nsrt4me
I installed the rotors, but I had nothing to do with the suspension.
nsrt4me
It seems as though the front drivers side strut has been replaced with the wrong outback strut at some point. I measured the wheel gap on each side and the drivers side is about an inch and a half larger at least....
dease42
that can't be good for the AWD.. can it?
ClimberDHexMods
that can't be good for the AWD.. can it? AWD doesn't care as long as tire circumferences are all the same. ssbtech
that can't be good for the AWD.. can it? Shouldn't make a difference. The wheel isn't turning at a different speed. Won't be good for handling or safety though. I'd be getting that replaced ASAP.

JermTheElf
I had this problem when I first got the car. In the trunk where the spare tire sits, the drains for excess water gets clogged. Pull the carpet up and make sure there's not a pond in there. I had a big pond, and drained it, then it sat normal! Good luck!

Impatient
OP, In case you are still in doubt, try this measurement: Between the bottom of the spring perch basket, and the top of the colar that has the lower mounting bolt holes, along the actual damper tube, if the distance is 5.5 inches, you have an Outback strut. Legacy strut should have a 1-1.5" shorter measurement.
scobaru5
I have this very same issue except I'm on spec B suspension... I put lowering springs on it and it didn't really lower the car much it just put it at stock ride height
