thestratomaster
You can't go too low with an Outback because the extra wide stuck-on fender bits hang out too far past the tires and the whole lowering thing just looks more exaggerated. That's why you get wider tires
ssbtech
That's why you get wider tires Then you wonder why the wider wheels and tires have carved up the wheel bearing. The cladding and fender are almost an inch thick, doesn't matter how wide the wheels and tires are, the cladding will always stick out too far from the tire to look good. The cladding does not provide for more tire space in the well.

ssbtech
I know. I still think it looks like the springs fell off. Regardless of the wheel size, if you look at that car from the side the wheels are all off-centered in the wheel wells. The back wheels tuck up and forward leaving one nasty uneven wheel gap. scoobyscoodle
ok so its come down to konis or bilstein hds, any oppions on whats better Both are great dampers but in my opinion the konis are a little better, and you can adjust the rebound damping on them to better match your spring choice. GEE-OTTO
maybe your right gee-otto i need to save money anyway lol I mean unless you do serious track time our stockers aren't bad. Hell add your choice of springs (matching rates to strut/shock rates so as not to prematurely wear them out) and you'll have a nice handling setup. for $ instead of $$$$ stock struts/shocks can be had for under $200 and springs for another $200 or find them used for good money
Vinny78
very true right now im on ralliteks with stock struts but i hate the rallitek springs. i mean the stance is nice but the noises i get from the springs suck lol.

AZP Installs
It's all good, the KYBs are absolutely fine. However this thread started out asking about coilovers, rather than a stock replacement setup. -Mike http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg Call directly for your best Whiteline Price! | We also carry almost every manufacturer now, so before you buy parts call us. ported
My 08 Outback 2.5i has just had Whiteline front/rear sways and adjustable endlinks installed. I'm waiting from Primitive Racing in Oregon, for my King springs and KYB GR-2 shock/struts. Both Paul and Jason at Dales Alignment in Burnaby have recommended this upgrade vs coil overs, for everyday driving etc. with some light track use thrown in. Neither recommended for cost and maintenance reasons, coil overs. As far as another poster has said, "front sways are not that important", should rethink that. Jason (Dales Alignment) recommended if dollars were short only doing the front bar. After installing and driving with only a front sway bar installed, my turn in was much better. I didn't feel like the car was ploughing through the corner. With both front and rear done the balance is great.
N.sane
Welcome fellow BC resident Sounds like a good list of suspension mods for daily driving. Never heard of King Springs until you mentioned it, but after some research, looks like a good choice since it doesnt lower the car (thus maintaining suspension travel). I agree that a front sway bar is important on our cars. The McPherson strut design is prone to camber loss during cornering. A bigger front sway bar reduces this camber loss, which means more grip for the front tires and reducing understeer.
