I just ran out to LA and back from Dallas. Took I20 out and I40 back.

Averaged 24-27 cruising at 80 +/- 5 mph

Once I got out of Dallas - no more 93 octane till I got back to the house. :(

I've seen folks talk about what good gas Shell is so I tried a few tanks. Thumbs down for me as those tanks were my worst mileage.

Neat thing about the turbo was up or down the mountain did not matter as the cruise control stayed right at the speed it was set for. I usually lost any body that was tagging along on the long uphills.

Forgot to add this was with three adults and thier luggage.

Yes I know that EVERYONE loves to voice their ideas about what is good and what is bad when it comes to kilometres travelled but ........ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep yr negative and swearing to yrself PLEASE as it affends other users...
Kilometres? My LGT prefers manly miles to Sheila-pleasing kilometres.

BTW, affends ain't a Scrabble word. Another sad example of a convict's ancestor in an uncivilized, sheep-worshipping former Crown possession butchering Her Majesty's English...

I am sick of it only because the EPA slaps the numbers on the side of the car before you buy it (although I seem to be having better luck if I don't keep the pedal glued to the floor all the time)

I was having pretty bad numbers before I got the Cobb Ap now its like wow the numbers are right were they should be. Kinda odd more power with less fuel consumption. I was around 22ish average for a tank, now Im around 24/25, for the first time the other day when I filled up I had over 350 miles on the tripometer, before I could barley get 300 out of it.

No, I'm not sick of the complaints. :p

Everyone here seems to be driving new 2005 LGT with 250 hp  . I have a 2000 and love the car but with 165 hp and torque of 160 and cruising at 2500 rpm I get about 25 mi/gal I think :) . Generally a 60 litre fill up gets me 600 km. CND $6.00 a gal since Katrina and it's the gas companies sticking it to me for no reason other than greed.

try driving a 04 dodge ram HEMI AND GETTING A WHOPPIN 12 MPG IN THE CITY

THAT AND CAUSE I NEED FOUR DOORS IS THE MAIN REASON IM TRYING TO BUY A LEGACY GT...

LEGACY GAS MILAGE IS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME!!!!!!

Got no sympathy whatsoever for peeps driving trucks like that unless the bed is full of tools, equipment, and supplies for work - don't see that very much these days.

Thanks to peeps like that we are using gas at a heinous rate.

No offence BUT: Why draw the line on trucks? There are plenty of people on this planet that think that 22 city/28 highway is criminal and we should all be driving 50 cc Yamaha scooters that get 200 mpg. I'm not advocating this position, but if the "greenies" get their way we may all be driving 75 hp hybrids with 50 mph governors on them and be limited by law to take 3 passengers everywhere we go or not drive at all. What is considered "acceptable" is all relative to your point of view. To many, dissing someone for driving a truck, while owning a 250 HP "performance' vehicle sounds like the pot calling the kettle black.

complain all you want, we get very respectable mileage. My TT RX-7 got piss-poor mileage. The legacy is a thrill at the pumps, even with these sky-high prices. If you want to feel better, go look at a RX-8 forum, all they do is complain about gas mileage. Makes the complaints here seem very minimal.

1st -when i bought the truck gas was about $1.50 or so

2nd- im deployed and not driving at all....well i drive a HUMMER here and that gets even worse milage...lol

3rd- trucks only for work.....come on man when is the last time you needed a truck to move etc and wished you had one...they are the best of both worlds....mine is fast ,roomy, fun to drive and useful....gas is the absolute only downfall...

i dont complain about gas there is no use,its not gonna fix anything..

i was just stating that those who complain about 20mpg city should be thankfull they arent spending $85.00 to fill a tank to go 350 miles....

Some replies

2nd - I believe that US army is trying to get vehicles with better gas milage than HMMV. You do not need such off road capabilities to patrol streets in Bagdad.

3rd - so how often do you move? My wagon (VW Passat) is quite handy in such situation. If one needs to move something bigger you can always rent what you want and drive what you enjoy.

1st - I am missing very cheap fuel too.

I am going to post again, I drove 1500miles two weeks ago, best tank was 29mpg, worst was 23.5mpg, average over the entire trip was 27mpg, I am happy with thoose numbers. Even on some roads where there was lots of highspeed passing required the miliage was not too bad. The last stretch was 140miles, mostly level road between 5000-6000ft, drove 80mph(speed limit 75) and got almost 27mpg.

On a side note I wasnt paying for the gas, so whatever.

I think I will leave for work soon and have some fun, it is 45F outside right now, the car should run nice, screw gas miliage, 15mpg here I come.

While it's true that one can't reasonably expect a 250hp turbocharged engine to get great mileage, there are probably still areas where Subaru could improve efficiency. I mean, the new BMW 330i makes 255hp/220ft-lbs. torque and gets better mileage (EPA 20/30 MT, 21/29 AT) than the Legacy GT. From what I understand, they did this partly by attacking parasitic losses (electric water pump, pressure-regulated oil pump, etc.) and implementing smarter cam/valve management. I'm not trying to be a shill for BMW (I drive a Leganza after all), but if they can do it, so can Subaru.

Also, you need to factor in at least a 10% loss for AWD against the Bimmer, so 18/27 vs 19/25, not THAT much different

As we all know, there's no point in complaining about gas mileage, or fuel ccosts. As long as there is a limited (or at least artificially controlled) supply, the prices will not go down.

The real solution to high fuel costs has been found in England. See this web site for the real deal (especially take a look at the "specialist fuels".

http://www.petroldirect.com/index.htm

This is clearly the solution.
