Update Time!

So over the the last week or so I finished up all the stuff before paint.

Installed some longer studs to run some 15mm spacers all around.

Installed some hood pins:

Finished the modifications to the rear quater panels:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton31.jpg

Removed the side molding and welded up the holes:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton32.jpg

And also welded up the anetnna hole:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton35.jpg

Also installed the lip, a set of side skirts, and some JDM rear spats. Here she is all ready to head to the body shop:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton34.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton36.jpg

So for the next couple weeks while this is at the body shop the ForeSTAR project will be getting some love. Also a couple little side job not worth mentioning about but when she comes back she will have a nice coat of paint and the engine and tranny will go in along with a nice service of custom performance mods.

Hey all.... I know it has been a long time since this was updated but its been at the body shop getting some love. Granted its taken kind of a while to get to this point but its finally back in my hands to finish everything off before final prime and paint. Here she is in one color, all strait and clean.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton38.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton39.jpg

So to start I needed to finish the engine bay and get it painted before I can install the engine and do any real fab work. Started by sanding and getting the bay ready for welding and body filler.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton41.jpg

Then cut out my side panels to start smoothing out the bay.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton42.jpg

Fits like a glove...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton43.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton44.jpg

Then I welded up all the unwanted holes.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton45.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton46.jpg

And finnally I made a third panel to cover all the holes and crappy metal left over from removing the battery tray.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton47.jpg

Next Is body filler and a lot of sanding. Not going super crazy with this bay but its will be what I am going to call my "Standard Tuck" plus firewall converted to run WRX dash engine bay tuck when I get my shop up and runing.

Mild will be:

Relocated ABS

Relocated Battery

Relocated Fuse Box

Tucked Brake Lines

Standard will be everything in Mild plus:

Tucked Engine Harness

Side patch panals and body with w/ custom paint

Also custom painted engine parts if desired

Pro will be everything in Standard plus:

Custom simplified wiring to only 1 or 2 pigtails coming into the bay

Custom Firewall Shaving

Custom Intercooler Piping (Reverse Mani and or Rotated Turbo Optional)

Relocated Power Steering Rez

SS Power Steering Line

Tucked Hoses (water/ fuel)

Full colored engine accents so everything matches

Custom colored fasteners (like dressup bolts)

Custom Tubing Optional

So if in a couple months you want a custom tucked super clean engine bay keep a look out. :)

They Jun s13 reps. About 30mm. Wheels are 18x10 +30 SVNR on 255/35/18 w/ 10mm spacers all the way around.

I would love to come to Cali for a couple weeks and do a few widebodies. Get some guys together lets do this... LOL

So update time. Currently the Engine bay is 90% done with filler work and is getting primer tonight but I took these pics a couple days ago. Tomorrow I will have pics of the finished bay in all one color.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton48.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton49.jpg

I just have a couple small bits left to sand and then its primer time. Next up will be finishing the ABS relocation and making the brake lines.

So finally the engine bay body work was finshed. Shot her in some black primer surfacer...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton50.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton51.jpg

Then sanded that down and got the top coat put on.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton52.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton53.jpg

Looks reallly good. Had to wait a day to make sure it cured before playing with brake fuild but today I am going to finish mounting the ABS pump and run the brake lines. Pics of that tomorrow.

So it took me a little bit to get another update ready. I wanted to wait the full cure time before I started drilling and getting brake fluid on the fresh paint. I was originally hoping I would get to keep the stock rear lines and tap into them but they were pretty far gone so I had to re-do them. Had enough tubing to do every line but the front drivers side so I ordered more. The tranny and engine will have to wait to be put in till that last line is ran. Here is the new abs pump location:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton54.jpg

Still need to fab the outside mount for the BS pump. Also the zip lines are only temporary till all the lines are ran and I get some a couple clamps installed.

As you can see these are now the only visable lines on the car.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton55.jpg

Got all the rotors and calipers on for the last time and the front coilovers and strut bar installed.

Next up is getting the harness and dash back in while I wait for more line. Still need to swap a couple things over and get the battery and stuff relocated to we'll tackle that in the next update.

looks nice, wonder what it would cost to commission you to build a "lower cost" project rally/fun/play car..... and or where do you sell your project cars when you get bored w/ them. Either way great work

Aww, I'm kinda sad you painted the flares. I know they were kinda ghetto, but they reminded me of my favorite time attack Subaru:

I know it looks completely different now, but I always thought it looked best like this.

sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.

I agree about the GST car. As far as work getting done yes I would love to do some more work. Pm me if you have ideas. I am actually considering selling my legacy as a project that would include labor by me to finish it. Since it getting parts taken out of it to finish my forester I was pondering getting a newer legacy or maybe one of those BRZs to do some custom fab work on.

Currently the Lego is on jackstands and would include all the custom body work. Full interior and my custom exhaust. Also included unless the new owner wanted to go a different route would be some performance struts and springs w/ camber plates. Adjustable control and trailing arms. Wrx sway bars etc. For the engine their are 2 choices. Ether a ez30r or ej207. Modifications on top could be arranged to build your own perfect Legacy. I want to put in the for sale adds but it's kind of a weird situation so I might wait till the weather gets better and I can get it back together more. But if any of you are interested let me know.

So bit of an update. Currently I had to put her outside for a few days as I am waiting for parts and I have a quick job I can get out of the way in the meantime.

Started off by getting all internal dash stuff in after the floor was dynomatted:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton56.jpg

Pick of the Bay with some more bits installed. Once I have the engine in and I can finish fitting all the wiring I'll loom the harness and get a gromet on there. Should be nice and clean with all the wiring coming out of just one hole.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton57.jpg

Girodisc 2pc front/ Rear rotors, Custom painted Calipers, Magic Pads, and SS Brake lines installed:

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton58.jpg

Now it was time for a bit of fitment testing. Got the new wheels/ tires on (from my Legac). Rear has -2 degrees of camber and the front has -2 degrees of camber and +1 degree of caster.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton59.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton61.jpg

Set it on the ground to make sure it would tuck then obviously adjusted the hieght back up but it tucked like a boss.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton62.jpg

The last bit of tubing comes on Friday so this weekend I will make a big puch to finish that and get the engine and trans in before the end of the weekend so next week can be dedicated to intercooler, intake, exhaust, fab, and all the other fun stuff.

Hey all. Update time!!! Got the engine and trans in after getting that last brake line ran.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton63.jpg

I am going to be doing another custom rotated setup on this car as well. As I was looking at it with the IC pipe not able to go into through the side wall of the engine bay I decided to clock it a little more then usual to me a better path for the IC and intake piping to make everything look a little more uniform.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton65.jpg

New location for the coolant tank w/ the reverse intake manifold.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton64.jpg

Got the IC pipes fitted and welded but I had to put a small notch in one to clear the alternator pulley. This is Stainless piping BTW and will be powder coated along with the intake manifold, coolant tank, and turbo once its all shaved and sanded down later today.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton66.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton67.jpg

I'll have pics of the finished intcooler piping, and shaved intake manifold for tomorrows update. The paint shop has an opening to get the car in for paint on Monday so I am making a puch to get all the pieces that are getting powder coated finished so they can be getting finished at the same time. We are getting close. A few more weeks and this bad boy will be hitting the streets. Stay tuned.

Here is is all finished up minus the down-pipe. I am waiting for a flange to make it but I think I'll have to make is after the car is back from paint.

Hey all. Got the car back from the body shop again. I was sopposed to be painted but they were taking to long and I told them to jam it and get it back to me so I could finish my stuff. So sorry about the wait for updates it wasn't my fault.. :)

Now that its back however I am working as fast as I can to get this thing done so I can move on to other things. Got the car back Monday and started by cleaning all the body filler dust out. Then I cleaned up Engine and put a coat of black engine paint on it. The nxt day I started test fitting some of the parts that were sent to powder coating...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton79.jpg

Looks and fits great. Next up is the main part of what I have left... Wiring. Started with the engine harness.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton80.jpg

Because this is a JDM engine there are no TGV plugs to eliminate but I still had plenty to do to fit the reversed manifold and wire tuck. This is how it ended up..

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton81.jpg

As you can see the sides of the motor only have whats needed so it looks much cleaner.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton82.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton83.jpg

All of the wires for the throttle body neede to be extended..

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton84.jpg

And the real reason and biggest part of doing this was the power supply plugs needed to be reloacted to the back of the motor to meet up with the rest of the plugs coming out of the single hole in the firewall.

The next day was a doozy. Rewireing the forward harness. The fuse box and washer tank are getting reloacted to join the battery in the trunk. Also the power supply wires needed to be re-routed to run with the rest of the plugs in the fire wall. After 9hrs of work I finshed.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton86.jpg

Power supply plugs...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton87.jpg

Extended fuse box...

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Brighton/Brighton88.jpg

I used three colors based on their size and each plug or relay is bundled together for trouble shooting if need be. However after doing over checks on each wire with my volt meter I doubt i'll need to dig back into this harness. All sheilded sensor wires were not modified in any way and the extention is not going to effect the car in any way for those that think are thinking of increased resistance.

I'll have more to come in a couple days.
