  1. Hey guys. Been a while. I got hold of prolly the last 3 sets of flares I’m ever gonna have if any of you are in the market. PM me.
  2. Yes this car was sold back in August of last year. I had a Mazda 6 Wagon for a time and now I have a 2002 WRX and a 2006 Baja Turbo. Since neither of my cars is a Legacy I do not frequent this place anymore. For those insterested I sold the Legacy to a Buddy. Who then ran the car 4qts low and fried the EZ36. He has since swapped the wheels to less fitted stance, raised the car and put the an original EZ30R back in. I dare say is nothing special anymore. However I am planning an EZ30R swap in my WRX and am currently planning the logistics of that plan out. Here are some pics of my 2 current projects. The WRX is Wide and flashy which hasnt been my M.O. for some time but I uses this car to promote the shop I work for. The Baja is going the other way. Lifted and I will do some graphics on it but to promote my Art rather then the shop. WRX: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Mobile%20Uploads/3019A432-FEC4-4778-B762-1914B38E584E_zpsiakscx1y.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/BIGNW%2012_zpsjjza5ign.jpg Baja: http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Baja%20Progress%2002_zpsgczj5qks.jpg Anyways thats what I am up to. I miss my Legacys, but I am pretty happy with the 2 I have now haha.
  3. I have a website that's sort of polished but it needs work. www.deadmrdesigns.com I want to buy a touch and go site like and ecommerce or something and then add all my builds, resume, misc. crap, as well as my art with a shopping cart for prints. I have prints of all my art from the last con I attended so if you would like some of the drawings I have already finished, I can send you pics of what I have she could pick if she likes. If she wanted something drawn just for her like a portrait, or her favorite character pm me. I was going to do my friends brother as if he was a character in Sword Art Online and surround him with the known characters from the anime, but we haven’t started it yet. I have done a few commissions where I have taken Original Characters people have created for a manga they are writing, and drawn them my way so they could use it as a cover or just a better visualization of their ideas because they did not think they had the skills to accurately portray them. I have the MR2 build going slowly because I am building an STi for a buddy at the moment and it’s looking sexy. It’s basically a swap/ bolt-on project, but we completely restored it from a bare unibody up with custom paint as if it was done from the factory but with more care. I'll post a lil pic montage then it’s done here if you like. I'm going to be finishing up a small series of concept drawings of the MR2 soon. As far as actual work the front end RX7 conversion is going well. The modified suspension is designed and I have my parts list but my desire to go to NZ is still strong, and I would be taking the MR2 with me and from what I am seeing about their import laws if I were to do that the car should be RHD because it will be way easier. I have been looking over the MR2 forums for how-to on that project and most of them swap EVERYTHING and I find that to be redundant if you know how to modify parts/ wiring so I think I’m going to take that on. Since the entire front end of the car from the firewall forward is going to be modified including relocation of the steering rack 5” forward to retain the original location in relation to the stock knuckle design or…. I flip the one I have so the steering output is on the right side and since I’m making new knuckles from scratch anyways to house the EVO X wheel bearings and brakes, I change them so the steering links mounts to the rear rather than the front which should allow me to retain the stock mounting and reverse the steering so the wheels still turn with the steering wheel correctly… This MR2 project is going to test my abilities to the max as 80% will be totally custom. It will be my greatest build (that is if I pull it off lol) I have a new idea I came up for the hatch is truly one of a kind and will completely change the look of the car, and though the engine swap I’m going with has been done before you can bet, the intake manifold and exhaust will be of my own design as well as the wiring, and presentation of the engine in the bay haha. I’m just going over the logistics of the plan and budget so I know what to order and when and how I’m going to go about it. I have been designing/ planning this build for almost 2 years. I have never taken this much consideration in planning a car, but that’s because I have never done this much custom work to a single car before and that’s including the Celaru lol In either case once I get my site up and running the way I want, that build (and all my others) will be posted there since it doesn’t seem to be allowed here. I’d post on the MR2 site and I started but I really dislike the mentality of the members there. I don’t want people to try telling me I can’t do this or that it bugs me cuz I can, but one member there in particular really irritates me because he thinks he knows everything there is to know about everything. A desktop hero if you will. Anyways, other than that I don't really know how to keep this thread alive since the Lego is gone unless you want me to post the MR2 and other crap this can just turn into a standing account of my goings on.... The sounds really conceded… lol ya… Catch ya all later. Johann
  4. I could make one that housed a FMIC easy. MADMAX style parts are easy to design and make cuz its all hard edges and function. Best bet would be to use an FMIC that was the right size volume wise but was mass produced so that if you munch it doing something manly you could just buy another. I did a mini attempt on the Lego I had before I bought the 3.0r. I sold the car to my buddy this is the only pic I have of them together. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/00000000-0000-0000-0000-00000000029F_zps1fkdknyv.jpg This is the new ride. My Lego went to a good home my buddy loves it but for now I'm out of the Subaru game and yes... It was stock when I got it lol.. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Mazda%206/0FD7590A-B21D-4C14-8B80-0F83D72E4610_zpsuoe745wf.jpg I'm still working on the MR2 but I haven't been posting it anywhere cuz I don't think anyone cares lol **Update that thread was removed from here so I guess I was right haha** I pop in here from time to time cuz I still get people asking about flares and I still sell them but ya I didn't realize people look at this thread either anymore haha. Cheers Johann
  5. I have a new set of flares that are wider then the ones on my car and I can make those arms I just need a full set of the stock arms to take measurements from. Lets go 18x11 on 315s lol Anyways if you want to talk pm me this isn't the place to do it. Nice you got your tires fitting how did your roll go? Did you have to stretch much?
  6. We didn't put her on the dyno we did a road tune. Car is sold but my buddy is having some issues with it... Ran fine for me for like 2 months and he gets it and 2 days after signing the papers it acts up so I'm heading over today to have a gander at it. He swapped the stock manifold back on it to see if maybe mine is causing an issue since the MAF is too far from the TB with that temp intake I made so it kinda sluggish on initial throttle from a stop and now it wont idle so he did something funky and I need to find it oh joy. For the first time in 12 years I do not own a Subaru. Got a 04 Mazda 6 Wagon and yes she is going to get pretties (mild) but its not even worth posting here so I guess I will update my MR2 thread and this one will die. I will try and get a sound clip for you once I sort out what he did wrong to make it not run. I'm sure I will still be around though trying to hustle art and flares. I'm thinking about making some suspension components for the Legos given that I have a TIG now and I need an excuse to weld things lol. If you guys got any ideas for making cool shit other then exhaust and dumb stuff that you can just buy for less let me know. I looking into making: Adjustable front control arms with built in roll centers Adjustable Rear Trailing arms Adjustable Rear Control arms and Tie Rods Adjustable Rear Trailing arm mounts (Like what I made for this car) 5x100 to 5x114.3 Conversion EVO X and 8 BBKs Front and Rear I got a list for the MR2 as well and maybe my new Mazda but I kind of doubt there is a market for cool Mazda shit lol. Anyways give me a shout if you got idea or you want flares or a cool drawing of your whips. Other then that I guess I will see ya all around. Later Johann
  7. Legacy has a lot of room if there if you set your suspension up the right way or flare it. I could fit a 19x10.5 +35 without hitting the struts (very close) which is 168.35mm of back spacing. I reworked the front suspension by cambering out the bolt at the knuckle all the way and then using the camber plate on my coilovers to dial it back into normal specs. Nice part about that is that the wheel pulls in sooner as it travels up and with a roll center kit it will almost perfectly retain the degree of camber for 1.5-2.0" of wheel travel. In the rear I did the same thing as you moving the rear wheel back by modifying the trailing arm link but I used arms that used hyme joints with misalignment spacers so the added rearward angle on the arms did not effect them. My camber settings were -2.5deg all way round To fit my tires 265/30/19 I did a little stretch so the tires side profile matched the fender flares to prevent rubbing issues, get a better stance, and I didn't need steamrollers on my car. I ran a hubcentric 25mm spacers (extra set of studs on the spacer) in the rear and a 15mm spacer on the front with extended studs also hubcentric. With the flares I was allowed to run 143.35mm of rear poke and 133.35mm of front poke from the mounting face of the rotor. No spacers would have allowed a 295 wide tire or a 18x12 +20ish wheel with like a 285/295 wide tire on it and have a little stretch to match the flares. The flares were about a 2" (or 50mm) extension to the car so with a roll and stretch will get you about 20mm giving you aprox. 271.7mm or 10" of space inside the wheel from strut to wheel arch so a 255/265 tire depending on brand should fit in there if you have coilovers so there is less risk of hitting the lower spring perch. Its definitely doable and without rubbing or stupid camber. Oh and word of advice. Take a heavy flat object wrapped in some cloth (to not damaged the paint) to use as a dolly and a hammer and fold the inner edge of the wheel arch totally flat. This will make stretching your fenders (if need be) way easier and way less likely of warping the metal because it will drastically increase the strength of your wheel arches when you start pushin on them. You will chip the paint off when you fold the metal flat so I took a razor blade and cut the paint at the outer 45deg down of the rounded edge of the arch where you fold it so when it chips off it breaks only on the inside where you cant see and then for you a silver fat sharpie or mask and spray paint will do you solid. Johann
  8. As long as the rear signal is red or amber and you don't tint your tails so its hard to see, no cop will even bother to look at you twice.
  9. He got them from me. I order them in set of five and sell them to people who find me via word of mouth. Same ones installed on my car and the quality and fitment on the lego is amazing.
  10. Mini Update: She is getting tuned today. Minor stuff to get her running good. After that is cleaning and detail and a photoshoot. Pics soon. Johann
  11. Because the MAF is right at the merge point its letting more air past it then the sensor is calibrated for so the car is running lean. MAF cars are really finicky imo I hate them. It needs a longer strait run and a slight restrictor so it matches the calibration its used to. I will make an air box rather then a merge and have a longer run before it gets to the MAF and that should fix it. At least the run the dual filter style intake. I made a temp single filter intake but I moved the battery for a reason. I was trying to get the car tuned this week but might not happen so i might take a stab at redoing the intake this weekend if i dont spend it all on the MR2
  12. Mini Update: Made a temp intake that will hold the car over till I fab another dual inlet one after my buddy buys the car. It needs an airbox style so the MAF has a longer run at the flow but I took it for its first test drive on the new mani and the results are profound. Throttle response was amazing even with a slight leak on the TB. I fixed that with some DYI gasket material and some RTV so I will check it again tonight to make sure it sealed and tomorrow she gets aligned. Once aligned she can head down to Tacoma to get tuned. No check engine lights yet so that's a good sign but I'm still going to have the Fuel Ratios checked before I sign her over to my buddy. I'm trying to see my buddy will let her go on the dyno for a pull or 2 so I can get numbers but if it doesn't need it then I will just take a few flyby and in take vids of her for you all. I spent most of the weekend fitting up the new front end to my donor MR2 so if you want to check that out pop over to my other build thread. Johann
  13. Mini Update: She Runs! Runs well too the throttle response is amazing. However, its not on the intake I built. In order to run it the MAF will need to be tuned as its letting more air past it then the original design so car isn't running properly. I have the original intake on it for now to get it aligned and then driven down to my guy to get tuned. We will swap the new intake on there. If it doesn't work then I will just do a redesign on new intake to work and tune it on the original. I don't see how tuning it will be much of an issue since they do this for those "Big MAF" types of intakes all the time. Johann
  14. I'm gonna be 32 in Aug... haha Like what you like; who gives a shit. You're not gonna see me cosplaying or anything crazy, but I still enjoy a good anime from time to time lol. Plus my art is going into more car portraits with anime vibe which is a nice niche to sit in I think. I just glanced through a few of my old build threads kinda sad that they have sorta been lost to the Internets to die in archives. I thought about reviving some of them, but meh lol. They are fun to glance through to see where I have come from and how much I've grown over the years. I need to get them added to my website soon.
  15. Mini Update: Legos engine is back in but I still need to bolt everything to it. Been working on the GC8 Front ended Bugeye all week trying to get the engine buttoned up I will take some pics of it soon when it looks sorta like a car lol. Lego should be ready to fire again by this weekend so I'm hoping she can finally move towards end goal of this project. I've have enough setbacks with cars for a while lol. Johann
  16. Mini Update: Got the longblock re-assembled and sorted out the intake manifold. Well I think I sorted out the manifold. It had a minor leak at the main flanges bolted to the head so I cut the runners off one side and re welded it bolted to the engine cuz I had it on the stand and the was a small notch I needed to cut on it where the throttle body was touching and a not allowing in the seal completely. I'm going to get the engine back in and hooked up today or a little later this week on the new manifold and try again. If there is still an issue I'm going to pull it back off and get the car running on the stock manifold and the new intake and sort out my manifold later maybe when its getting tuned or I may just save it for the next car I build because that will be a MAP car and not a stupid MAF car, but I'm getting ahead of myself. I have been juggling 3 cars and hoping back and forth between all of them as well as re-configuring my place which is why progress on the lego has not been as fast as I'd like. My MR project has been going pretty slow but I have been making okay progress on it. I sold the bulk of the Donor cars parts the other day so my storage unit that I was renting can go away and I moved the remainder of the parts I was keeping to the shop. The 2 thirds of the donor car are already at the shop but they need to be put on a cradle to get them off the ground so I can fab the suspension pieces I have them for. I got the casters the other day but I need to go buy the metal needed to build it which I will be doing this weekend. I have a couple parts left I need to swap to my current car like the electric doors but I need to remove and weld away the side molding. Once that is done I will be sealing the doors black and then taking the car in to have another spray of just base coat shot on it so its all one color again for the remainder of summer. I am also working on that 02 WRX with the GC8 front end swap I showed a couple pics of. The car was delivered back to the owners place over a year ago because he said he would finished it and he’s lost drive and asked me to finish it at his place for him and since I could use the extra cash I am working on that. I will take some pics of it next time I go there it’s come a long way since I posted those pics. Anyways, yeah I know threads that are all talking suck, so I will post up some pics of something soon for you all. Lego is just getting buttoned up but will look the same as the pics from the first time I assembled it. So ya. New car has been decided on. It’s another Legacy or Outback rather. Well... It’s actually 3 Outbacks.... Outback #1 is a 2002 that’s White with a clean title, buts it’s got a blown engine and it’s an auto. Outback #2 is a 2003 LL Bean that has the EZ30D and the super nice tan/ brown leather interior. It’s totalled and an Auto Outback #3 is a 2002 that is also totalled, but has the engine removed but it’s a 5mt... So I think some of you can see what’s going to happen here... Outback #1 will be stripped to a bare chassis. Outback #2 will have the Engine, Harness, Interior, Fuel Lines, Gas Tank pulled and then scrapped. Outback #3 will have the Tranny, Shaft, Diff, Linkage, Pedals, Shifter Trim, Master Cylinder pulled, and then scrapped. All of the goodies will go into Outback #1 but with some clean up and lil mods here and there to make a Nice VIP/ EURO style Wagon with the H6 and a 5mt. I'm getting all 3 cars for a screaming deal so I will be able to do the work and modify it for under $6500.00 so I will own it outright and no longer have a loan payment, as well as a more practical car to help transport my con stuff to events. I'll give you the mods list but yes once this Lego is finished I will be getting a nice photoshoot for it finished to close this out and making a new thread in the Outback section of this forum to showcase its build. It will be a pretty quick and dirty build but should be fun and a pretty slick looking car when it’s done. When it’s striped it will get the Engine bay cleaned and painted along with a mini tub and weld in cover panels to clean up the engine bay. Custom hidden brake lines with ABS removed cuz I hate ABS and it looks way cleaner without. Also a Couple covers for some of the components on the firewall to further clean up the engine. The engine bay harness will also be modified so that only the minimal amount of wiring comes into the engine bay. Battery, washer tank, fuse box will be relocated to a modified spare tire well along with a roadside emergency kit, and full tool kit. I will be changing the shape of the spare tire well to fit these components securely. The engine will be cleaned up and gone through to fix any leaks and then be dressed up with paint and a small wire tuck. I really like the way the stock cast manifold and engine cover look so I will just paint them to look better. I will be making a custom intake similar to the one I made for this threads Legacy but this car is a MAP sensor car so it will be much easier. Interior will be swapped and left alone for the most part aside from swapping out the stock sound system for a mild upgrade of door speakers, the nav deck from the MR2, a small amp. I will Prolly also change all the illumination of all the components to red using my sharpie technique. Performance parts I won’t do much. Cheaper Coilovers Rear Camber Adjustment Arms Front Roll Center Kit OBX EZ30D Header Cheap 05-09 Legacy Exhaust with Dual Mufflers Custom Intake My buddy is going to stock reflash it to make as much power and fuel eco to run on 87oct. I need this to be a cheap cruiser so I can drive long distance to cons and stuff. I mainly would like it to perform as well as stock with slightly better MPG on 87oct and sound cool. Exterior I’m going to try something new that I have been wanting to try but never had the chance. I’m going to be getting a set of 18x9.5 +30 wheels on 225/40/18 tires. That offset it already pretty aggressive for that body style of Legacy but the wheels I want are 5x114.3 so I will be getting 17mm hubcentric conversion spacers making it way past the point of fitting under rolled fenders. The plan is to take the extra fenders and quarter skins to make a very subtle widebody to fit the wheels. I will be cutting the stock flare on the fenders in the middle and then pulling it out to just the point it clears the wheels and then adding in a piece from a second set of fenders from one of the other Outbacks to fill the gap. In the rear I’m going to cut the stock quarters high and weld the inner fender to the skin so the wheels can come out and not rub. Then take the ¼ skins from another outback and overlay them on top to bring the wheel arch out but in a very subtle way. I may even add some of the door skins on to Outback #1’s to bring the body out. I should be doing about a 1.5”-2” flare on the body but it will be very hard to tell so it will be super clean. Other exterior mods will be: Legacy GT front Bumper w/ custom Integra Type R Front Lip Bolted to it 2009 Legacy Wagon Rear Bumper Grafted into stock bumper and dual exhaust. JDM Headlights JDM Taillights JDM Grill JDM Side Spats Mustang GT500 Hood Vent Custom Honda Type R White Paint Job Once the car is finished it will stay like that for the winter. During the winter I will finish the front suspension and RX7 front end conversion to the MR2 donor car and then swap it over to my car and then have it painted and in the spring with its time to start driving it again the Outback will get scuffed and then I will sharpie Manga style art all over it with the Dead Mr. logo on it. Then it will be cleared over to protect it. Once the MR2 is completely done it will also get the same treatment so when everything is all said and done both cars will match. I guess that wasn’t a “mini update” but without pics it’s a lame post so mini update it is. This thread is drawing to an end, but the MR2 has its own thread and the new car will Prolly get one too. Once the Lego sells I will order all the parts I need and go get the first car. I’m hoping to get one Outback a week to swap all the parts and stuff so that build should go pretty quick pending there are no hold ups. Anyways I will post an update of the lego soon and sprinkle in some pics of that WRX/GC8 thing I have been working on since it never got a build thread. Johann
  17. Mini update: Got the engine out and the head off. Valve had a slight bend in it. Swapped her out with a new one and she sealed back up. Yay! Also checked the other cyls to make sure they are sealing and it looks like I'm good to go. I need to go through my manual and print off the torque specs for the head and the timing instructions. I get my engine stand back today so I can reassemble everything and get the engine back in the car today. Id love to fire it up but i don't think imma get that far today. I'd like to assemble the manifold again back on the engine and check for leaks and make sure everything is perfect with it on the stand. Hoping soon this weekend she will be good to take for a test ride.
  18. Mini update: Pulled the manifold to trouble shoot the engine issues and found a slightly bent valve. Dry cranking without the injectors connected isn't making any ticking sounds so I don't think the piston is touching it. not really sure what the deal is but engine is coming out this week to swap the valve and see if there is any other additional damage... I had a small leak on the timing cover at the bottom so I guess this would be a good time to fix it lol. I hope to have the work done in the next day or 2 so this weekend I can try and get it going again.
  19. Hey fellas. Just about to the end of the tunnel. Spent the weekend getting her all buttoned up to test fire. First order was to fab and mount the new batter in its hidden location. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/E2543361-C3C8-4985-90F8-9427D4355BD9_zpsb1s9x18m.jpg Then mounted it to the passenger side frame rail and it fits like a glove. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/E48A7B16-9A22-4005-865A-713B1F26FAFF_zpsdurwis7h.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/C1B016E5-5AFB-4333-85C9-F1BF9350BBF3_zpsdspupb5k.jpg Then it was just a matter of running the last of the hoses and the power wires to the battery. Once she was all buttoned up she looked like a million bucks. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/45B14512-E127-4AD9-8FAF-434C80B986AA_zpsjwy6ecld.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/0B04A1E5-0525-41E5-97F8-EE392EB550D8_zpsle2r6cml.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/59C9CB91-8648-4751-8842-42F68076151C_zpsxlhqeur3.jpg So after that i test fired her and she started right up but then her idle slowly started to deteriorate and then she died. After that she was spotty and hard to start and keep running and she was misfiring and stuff.... I believe its because of the new location of the MAF and that more air is getting past it causing the engine the run lean. But since all the fab work is done is just playing with bolt-ons now so this week I am going to start ruling stuff out before I get her tuned. First I will stick my stock intake manifold and original intake on it to see if the car fires and that will tell me that the engine and the wiring harness is okay. Then I will install the new intake on the stock manifold and see if the symptoms come back and that will tell me the MAF location is causing the issue and it can be tuned out like they do when they put a Big MAF intake on WRX/Sti. If its not the intake then its the manifold I built and that could be due to a leak somewhere so I will look it over and install it with the original intake so I know the MAF isn't contributing to the problem and figure out whats going on. If its the intake then I can put it all back together with the stock style MAF and take it to get tuned and swap the intake there. If its the manifold then I will determine the issue and get the car tuned on the stock manifold and new intake and then swap the manifold once I have addressed the issue since the manifold should behave like the stock one aside from the internal volume differences. I think there could be a leak around the mating flanges around the TB or even that the manifold may be slightly warped and not sealing at the heads. I'm hoping its just the intake but either way I will sort it out. Regardless I think it looks amazing and I'm very happy with the looks. Once I get it to fire I will be cleaning up and getting her ready for her photoshoot and then she will be ready to sell to my buddy. But here is the lat pic I took and you can see fuel vapor in the manifold so proof that for a little while she did run... lol http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/0CB63E71-3F3B-4550-80F6-62A9E7C23372_zps6y2q95eh.jpg I will update once I finish my process of elimination crap. Later Johann
  20. Oh and also my website is actually starting to look like a website finally. Go check it out and if any of you guys are looking for some custom art of your car hit me up I'm always looking for work. http://www.deadmrdesigns.com
  21. Hey all. Finally got some more work done to the Lego this weekend. Last couple weekends I needed to give the MR2 some attention and was getting ready for an Anime Convention that I registered to be in the Artist Alley. As with just about everything I do; my skill set allows me to do things most cannot and the biggest issue with that is that I have little to no restraint when designing something. So about 14 weeks ago I started designing and constructing the components to make a booth. I figured if I was going to do I would go legit so that I can use it for future cons cuz I really wanted to promote my art more in the next coming years if I could. So I started with an initial design of a tri-fold and a table with in inset monitor so I could display progression vids and other things. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/3305A6A2-89E5-4174-823D-3C90EDBB2F06_zpsnzil77ak.jpg Over the next 11 weeks I worked on this and the Legacy as time allowed and the design progressed from an entire table to a folded table topper and I was having issues with my prints because the scanner was bleaching them out so I had to build a photo booth to take pictures of them with a Nikon 7100 camera and they came out much better but it ate into a lot of my time for the Lego and the booth. I finished everything pretty much the night before despite the time frame I had lol. I was also hoping to have the Lego done for the event so I could use it to transport stuff to the con but that didn't end up happening so I had to load it onto the MR2 which was interesting... http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/48BAF778-A358-406C-B313-8019BDDBA0A4_zpsjpb0pge0.jpg But thanx to the rack it all worked out. Originally they asked me to bring my DH bike to the con cuz its covered in anime girl stickers and I was promised more space but when I got there I didn't have the space they promised, so I have to improvise and put the bike and tri-fold across the hall which would have been a disaster since the tri-fold was to hold up all my art for display if not for the monitor. Luckally, I just put my art in a slide show with a faster timer that seemed to work well enough. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/26DC9E81-6463-4C10-8922-E7316E9EBB6F_zpskskshcdi.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/488B45DB-E8B9-485F-9B4D-2C20060D8A25_zpsmb1krqsk.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/3F55EC49-4E00-4B26-9161-C16DB29A8D28_zpscnj8ecgr.jpg I had planed to have more things to sell but I cut my losses and just had prints and my thumbdrives to keep it simple. So the night before I hastily made some displays for that. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/96022E82-89DD-4447-B927-75642CB2A42C_zps4a5hvc70.jpg In any case the con went really well for my first time. I sold more then I thought I would and I don't know if any of you anime guys know but Tiffany Grant was going to be there who was the voice of Asuka Langley in the English dub of Evangelion so in the weeks heading up to the con I did a drawing of the character hoping I could sell some prints and get the original signed by her. In the end I managed to sell 9 prints and when I went to get my original signed she was very nice and told me she loved the perspective of my drawing so that was a pretty big honor. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/anime/2576905C-2584-4EE5-AC69-AB09CA0C3C82_zpsatqyculw.jpg Anyways, that pretty well catches us up to the present aside from some work I did to the MR2 but you can check that out in my other thread. This weekend was all about the Lego trying to hammer this girl home. I started back on the Manifold by cutting out by hand and fitting the Lexan windows in it. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/CCF0A24A-7005-4461-9C37-2B7D57D2B281_zpsycfesuyi.jpg Once I finished I traced the fitted pieces onto a piece of paper with a scale so if I need I can get more cut out using a Laser etcher to replace them. Once finished I buttoned up and cut out the unneeded pigtails from my wiring harness and installed it for the last time. My wiring tools were with a friend so one section had to be left unfinished till i could get them back but its a quick fix. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/BDA0DC7E-6589-47AB-836D-7220155D9A1F_zpsrphr3jj4.jpg Next up was a big moment and that was painting the manifold finally. All the wires were fitted underneath, bungs welded in metal grinded and cleaned up. Took a long time to get to this moment but it was awesome to finally say she was going into the car for the last time. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/AE28E52E-D689-4B19-908B-82E4B48BDBF0_zpstadpxj4s.jpg While she was drying I moved on to another part which was my fender liners. I had been contemplating how to go about fixing this and the issue was that with the flares I had to cut the liners so the wheels wouldn't rub on them, but even with trimming there were areas they did rub down and it left large holes in them allowing dirt and water to get into the engine bay and on the backs of my headlights causing them to take on water on the inside. Finally while browsing through the local hardware store looking for booth stuff I stumbled upon this in the garden section. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/51483518-B9AF-4DF3-9805-5AA44DBDD5ED_zpsdvewo4nh.jpg Its made of black plastic and its every thin. I think they use it to separate soil for growing plants I'm not sure but it was cheap at 3.50 a foot. So I made some cardboard templates and then traced and cut them out in the plastic (with just scissors) and installed them with some of those universal tree type automotive fasteners. It worked perfectly! http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/2B42B69A-790B-4F9A-8CC7-173DD0DF74D3_zps8plm26co.jpg http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/45EC253E-6028-471B-A619-63830EDA85A7_zps3nbqd6ue.jpg Finished both sides and it only took about an hours start to finish this will be my new go-to for installing flares on any of my future cars. Once the manifold was dry, it was time for install. Finally all in with the harness and the EGR pipe I modified it all went in perfectly and looks great. Used a little bead of black gasket maker in the inside edge of the lexan flanges and then let it mush in to seal and it didn't fully spread out like I was hoping, but looks pretty great till I get the finalized laser cut pieces swapped in. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/660F064A-B59F-40F3-8E66-052408B62F1B_zpsaqb2t4ng.jpg Also got one of the modded fuel rail covers on and it really looks great covering all that wiring and stuff. Tucking is nice, but I think this looks much cleaner. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/Lego%2030r/80034AAD-238F-4BD9-8642-F4314857CB9A_zpsvfalqz2y.jpg Anywhooooo.... that's all I got for this installment. I have to finish the harness on the other side, clean up the engine bay, fab and mount my new battery, make a couple cover pieces out of that plastic sheeting and install the intake which I painted the same purple that is on the engine to give it some contrast. Hoping to finally hear her fire up with the new manifold next weekend so she can get aligned, and tuned, and then all dolled up for a photoshoot before I let her rest till her new owner is ready to take her. New car is pretty well decided. She is a 2002 Outback but.... A bit of a Frankenstein and needless to say she will be getting a hopefully quick and dirty build thread over in the BH5 section of this forum. Till next time. Johann
