Generic lets mod my car thread

Recommended Posts

Title says it all, this will be my thread to follow my leggy project as it evolves.

2007 Legacy GT spec.B

A friend is helping me by doing a LOT of footwork on a modlist, and I really owe him a ton for all the help hes given me in just conversing about the car. He is a proud owner of a beautiful aspen white WRX wagon, pictured here..

So once he and I get some real sit-down time, I can put up a coherent list of what we will be doing to this lovely daddy-car.

----------------

Semi-official mod wish list

----------------

Wheels / Tires

Short shifter

sway bars and endlinks etc.

maybe strut bars

gauge pod with boost, EGT, oil temp (the latter two tell you a lot more about how 'warmed up' your engine really is compared to just 'oh its idle is settled down lets beat it to hell')

new drivers seat

Tinted windows

---------

Mods

---------

Stage 2 HogZaust (lol)

Debadged trunk

For engine mods, I'd start with at least a FP HTA68 with is it the 8mm (bigger) hot side. then get the supporting pieces.

Check out the First thread in the Tech forum's lot's of info there on turbo's and set up's.

oz superleggera 18x8!

One of the wheels was poorly refinished two owners ago, but aside from that they are in lovely condition.

Engine....I will look at that but I feel like I want to do those mods a bit later.

The few I can say are soon are...

Short shifter

catted uppipe

sway bars and endlinks etc.

maybe strut bars

gauge pod with boost, EGT, oil temp (the latter two tell you a lot more about how 'warmed up' your engine really is compared to just 'oh its idle is settled down lets beat it to hell')

hmmm maybe a new drivers seat

Ok so since the 225/40/18's on the OZs are basically slicks by now and make my wheel well look like a warehouse, I have settled on a set of Nitto NT05's in 235/45/18.

My choices were between the Yokohama advan AD08, Michelin PSS, Hankook RS3, and Falken 615K.

All of these tires will meet my grip needs, and only the personal reviews of wet conditions and price could really sway me at this point and for the price, considering my student budget, I can't say that I could find a better tire for my needs than the NT05.

Great dry grip, great wet grip, doesn't frighten the driver in actively raining conditions (from the reviews people have written), and assuming I don't beat it to hell and back it should last, while remaining an amazing tire.

Can't wait :D

Also pics.

I was going to say shocks, but you already have the Spec B.

And look to the S402 for inspiration too:

http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/05/subaru-legacy-sti-s402-limited-edition.html

  • Six-pot Brembo calipers front and Two-pot rear.
  • Different steering gear ratio. (13:1 instead of 15:1)
  • 235/40R18 rims with suitable tires.

Why would you add a cat to your car where there is none? Is it possible that you meant catted DP not up?

But other than slowing down your car by adding a 3rd cat, are you going to do any mods which will make the car faster, or are you more of an appearance guy?

Why a catted UP?

lol 1am posting strikes again, need to get rid of that catted up.

I do have a tentative goal of 300whp,300+ wtq but making that happen comes second to improving the vehicle's agility and some certain appearance aspects.

The S402 is a huge inspiration and will hopefully play a large role in this, and found this thread as a good starting resource.

Also, this is before I got the tires mounted but on the way out of physics 2, apparently our campus police are getting segways and they were taking segway courses.....next to my car O_o

so instead of having the impatient freshman kick her door open into the side of my car, I get the possibility of a campus cop to park his segway in my fender....gotchya.
