MasAyinde
I'm installing my TBE and catless UP this weekend. I'm already pulling the intercooler to make the job easier and was probably going to pull the turbo to port the wastegate. Since I'm pulling both of these, do I have to remove passenger side exhaust manifold to pull the UP through the bottom or can I pull it through the top and not bother with the manifold? I'm trying to minimize the amount of exhaust components I remove to minimize the risk of leaks, so I'd rather not remove anything that I don't have to. bmx045
You need to unbolt the UP from the manifold, right at the point of the front o2 sensor, then you pull the pipe up from the top. Have fun.
MasAyinde
Well yeah, I figured I had to unbolt it from the manifold. i was just looking to avoid unbolting the manifold from the block and the x-pipe
bmx045
You don't have to touch those. You'll need to remove some heatshields and possibly the o2 sensor.
MasAyinde
Every write-up I've seen says that the manifold needs to be removed in order to remove the UP through the bottom of the car. Is this not the case?
rao
If you are pulling the turbo you do not need to touch the manifold. If you aren't the uppipe can be removed by removing the engine mount bolts (bottom and the top dog bone) and jacking up the engine slightly. Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT

Is this not the case? This is why I said you would pull the up from the top. pull the turbo, then you won't need to touch the manifold aside from the up connection.
