westu37
Is there any threads about what is needed for 05+ LGT cans on an 05+ OBXT? Is it just cutting the rear bumper and longer hangers? Wes.
citka
There is a thread on a guy who did it without cutting anything. He got longer exhaust hangers (from a Jeep I think) and had the cans stick down a bit lower than they would on an LGT. Personally I took LGT Cobb cans and had the COBB tips cut off, then had a local muffler shop weld on short turn downs. It looks very subtle and stock. I Love it. NewLegGT67
I have some '06 GT stock cans/mufflers if needed. I'm also in central New Jersey. I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.

Ya that was me I just got some longer rubber exhaust hangers from a jeep cherokee at the pick n pull and they went right on no problem. I did dremel out the bottom of the rear bumper just to make sure I wasnt going to melt any plastic also. http://i622.photobucket.com/albums/tt307/fibtlcivic/exhausthanger2.jpg
Sublimejoe
Is that a stock LGT exhaust or aftermarket? Sorry, new here.
citka
The picture above your post is an aftermarket LGT exhaust. (no shame in being new. Welcome)
Sublimejoe
Thank you! So I can buy an aftermarket LGT exhaust and make it fit with minimal hacking?
OutbackXT05
Yes you can. All the needs to be trimmed is the underside of the rear bumper. You cant even see what was trimmed from the back of the car.
OhBe1
For OEM, it was me. No trimming needed. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/lgt-stuff-installed-25873.html?t=25873&highlight=LGT+stuff+installed 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. citka
Or, if you are into the super subtle look, you can do what I did: Get LGT cans and have the tips replaced with OBXT style turn downs. All the performance, but looks almost bone stock.
Sublimejoe
Hey guys quick question, a local guy is giving me a great deal on a Legacy GT spec b stock exhaust, is there a big enough difference between my stock obxt exhaust and that to make it worth putting on? Sublimejoe
Good to know! I feel bad because I called dibs on one that was local and had to tell the guy I changed my mind. I think I will just end up going Invidia exhaust and lobbing the tips off.
OhBe1
Performance-wise, no difference. The LGT's will just look lots better than the XT's. And any sound difference (improvement?) will be only if you have the tips in contact with the bumper cover. As for whether aftermarket cans will improve performance, dunno; sound, usually. Ours were a nice, cheap, cosmetic upgrade, with maybe a tiny sound improvement; but that's LGT cans going on a 2.5i. 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. titoedge
So I asked around the shop and met someone who had a LGT sedan stock exhaust to sell. Tempting.... I bought it and read this thread over and over again, to convince myself that this would be my solution to a very mean/nasty snarly exhaust without any catback. Wife was less and less amused with the sound for road trips, otherwise I woulda kept it w/o catback and magnaflow cans. Anyways, thanks to all the posters here, and some magic at the dealership! I have the LGT cans, and mid/y, connected to a Perrin 3" downpipe. They do touch for now, but I'm going to install some longer hangers this evening once the car cools off. Was even able to sneak a Rallitek rear sway in there, unfortunately the kartboy endlinks not so much Minus a set of longer hangers, I'm thrilled!!! Price for the dealership to sell me stock mid/y/mufflers - $1000+ Price for the LGT stock exhaust - $150 Trim bumper, longer hangers - next to nothing A few hours of labor - PRICELESS http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tedgerto/2011-07-15_16-36-01_516.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tedgerto/2011-07-15_16-35-56_868.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tedgerto/2011-07-15_16-35-52_295.jpg talk about low-pro http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v168/tedgerto/2011-07-15_16-36-10_345.jpg
westu37
titoedge The pics for yours is exactly how mine came out. I just used the longer hangers for the rear mounts and left the front muffler mounts near the wheels off. wes.
