987687
A lot of progress done today. Engine is ready to pull, just didn't have it in me tonight. But it's all disconnected. Ej22 is all timed up ready to run. I, unfortunately won't have a header till the weekend, but I'll still fire it up to make sure it runs. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3522.jpg
GEE-OTTO
I wish I could find a BD for these prices even if I had to slap a EJ22 or a Ej25 in there it would still be a STEAL? Plus I love them

98LGTLover
You may find one sometime. Took me over 2 years to find my steal on one. Legacy GTs never show up on Craigslist in my area.

987687
I don't have the accessories bolted on, no coolant, or even rad hoses hooked up, the intake just stuck together enough for the MAF and no BIG vac leaks, etc. I just wanted to go to bed knowing it starts and runs. haha. Pics uploading.
987687
So first I'll start my showing some pics of my shop. I wish I had a really luxurious shop, floor jacks, a lift, jack stands, air tools, all the sockets and ratchets money can buy ... But I don't. I have a scissor jack, stack of 2x4 scrap for jack stands. Just some basic sockets and a bag of misc tools, etc. Here's my workspace. Where I did the work on the ej22 swap engine http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3524.jpg Standing by the engine looking forward, you can see my shop computer on the table saw: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3525.jpg Standing by the table saw looking across, much clutter. A lot of storage, broken generator as my tool bench, etc: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3526.jpg Now on to the juice stuff. here's my engine hoist. Mr. OSHA came and approved this one himself. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3527.jpg It finally started to separate! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3528.jpg The paperweight coming out. Again, Mr. OSHA was standing by making sure everything went alright http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3529.jpg LGT ChrisPower special edition: http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z314/987687/98%20Legacy%20GT/IMG_3530.jpg I didn't take a pic of putting in the ej22, look at the ej25 coming out pic, and imagine it only having one cam sprocket on each side. Done. It didn't even take a thousand words to describe that picture

987687
I had everything hooked up, last step. Adding coolant. So I was dumping coolant into the top rad hose like a kid in a candy store. My excitement practically boiling the coolant out, when all of a sudden.... psssssss. Coolant pissing all over the place. You bet that killed my excitement. hah. After a good long search and grumbling I found out I was missing the gauge temp sender. Swapped it from the ej25, and it was all good. Don't know how I missed that one, I caught the missing knock censor and the EGR solenoid when the engine was still on the floor.
987687
Here's the first start vid. The beeping is my phone. heh. I cranked the motor for probably 30 secs to make sure oil was circulated. No idea how long this engine has sat. Maybe years! He she is! Fired up pretty quick for not having been run in so long! 2000_LegacyOutback
Now you just need to weld up some exhaust and you'll be set
987687
I actually just got the exhaust all together. In the vid the exhaust system was sitting on the floor. haha. I got the gaskets and bolted it all together, and now it sounds nice. At some point, ie. when it's not freezing out. I'll weld up a better system for it. slimfast
so what do you have left to do? anything? more pics/vids after a nice wash and wax?!
987687
so what do you have left to do? anything? more pics/vids after a nice wash and wax?! Biggest thing is to get it registered and swap it for my other Legacy (which is for sale) on my insurance. Then get inspection, everything for inspection is done. It's all in good shape. There are a few things left I want to do though. Install my JDM headlights, replace bulbs in HVAC thingy, tint fogs yellow, install HU and my custom iPod system. Also, I want my gauges to be red, so maybe I'll just make the hvac red at the same time. It also needs snow tires, and I need to get tires for my summer rims, but no rush on that Once it's on the road I have access to an indoor truck storage facility with hot water sprayer :D:D So it'll get a nice bath and wax. Hopefully the heads are good off the old engine, because if they are a friend of mine is buying the heads and intake mani for $200. I have interest on the original headlights which are in nice condition, and the HU in it now should fetch a good sum. I'm pretty much gonna pay for the thing selling parts off it. haha. 2000_LegacyOutback
Ahhhh Haha nice. Did you get any kind of muffler?
987687
Just stock muffler for now. The exhaust system is 3 parts. The header (obviously I had to find a single port one). The first cat, and then the rest is one piece... Some stupid shop made a new midpipe (did a terrible job) and just welded it all together. So a custom exhaust is in it's future. As is a 5speed swap, rebuild ej25D block with dual port 22 heads and 1500 cams. I just need a shortblock to rebuild, I'll have to see if the old one is worth it or not.
